Summary of Lesson Plan
This social studies lesson plan is designed for 5th grade students to learn about how settlers wanted to find a route to Asia, but ended up in North America. This will be the introduction of the unit on American settlement and the thirteen original colonies. This lesson will use the 5th grade Houghton Mifflin Social Studies textbook United States History (pgs. 122-125).

H1.5.6 Identify individuals and groups responsible for founding and settling the American colonies. H2.5.1 Describe motivations for and expeditions of European exploration of the Americas.

Make sure to have poster boards for group activity and art supplies.

TUESDAY week #1

This social studies lesson plan is designed for 5th grade students to learn about the importance of the Jamestown Settlement. This lesson uses the 5th grade Houghton Mifflin Social Studies textbook United States History (pgs. 130-133)
