About Wireless Broadband Client

Wireless Broadband Client is China Telecom's network access software, with which you can access internet through its ChinaNet(WLAN), ChinaNet(3G) or ChinaNet(1X) networks. Note: 1. Notebook with modules or equipment based on 802.11b/g standards are required. 2. The client supports simplified and traditional Chinese, English operating system of Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Windows 7. 3. ChinaNet (1X) is for CDMA 1X network, and ChinaNet(3G) for EV-DO RevA network.
4.In order to ensure wireless access services, please unplug the network cable before useing ChinaNet network. 5.SSID of China Telecom ChinaNet(WLAN) is ChinaNet.

II Installation instruction
1. Insert network card, it will automatically pop-up interface of Figure 1. Click Install to

begin the installation of the Wireless Broadband Client.

Please choose installation language and click OK to continue. 4. Into the terms of the agreement interface.

(1) You must choose I already read an agreement, and accept all above all agreement clauses, and then take the next step.

(2) Click Next, continue the installation. 5. Complete the installation

After installation of some network card drivers, you need to restart the computer to ensure normal

operation of the software. We recommend that you choose yes, restart the computer now. And then click Finish.

IV Network Access Service

1. Auto Connect Access

1) Click the Auto Connect button, In accordance with the user has set the sequence; it will dial up to access internet with effective network. The default connection in order of ChinNet(WLAN),ChinaNet(3G),ChinaNet(1X). 2) During the process of connection, you can click Cancel to cancel this connection. 3) If you want to disconnect, please go back to the main interface of dial-up access and click "Disconnect" of connected network.

ChinaNet(WLAN) Access

1) Click the Connect button corresponding to WLAN on the main interface, and access the network after passing authentication. If you do not insert the network card with a UIM card and havent set a WLAN account, please follow the instruction, enter a WLAN account and password, select the province you belong to, and click OK. If the connection failed, you may try other ways of wireless broadband to make a dial-up access. 2) During the process of connection, you can click Cancel to cancel this connection. 3) If you want to disconnect, please go back to the main interface of dial-up access or click Disconnect on the interface of Network Status. 3. ChinaNet (3G) Access

1) Click the Connect button corresponding to 3G on the main interface, and the access will be done after successfully connected to 3G network. If the connection failed, you may try other

ways of wireless broadband to make a dial-up access. 2) After connected to 3G network, if the signal is too weak, the access will be automatically and seamlessly switched to 1X network, with which you can continue using Internet services. 3) During the process of connection, you can click Cancel to cancel this connection. 4) If you want to disconnect, please go back to the main interface of dial-up access or click Disconnect on the interface of Network Status. 4. ChinaNet (1X) Access

1) Click the Connect button corresponding to 1X on the main interface, and the access will be done after successfully connected to 1X network. If the connection failed, you may try other ways of wireless broadband to make a dial-up access. 2) During the process of connection, you can click Cancel to cancel this connection. 3) If you want to disconnect, please go back to the main interface of dial-up access or click Disconnect on the interface of Network Status.

Menu Functions

Settings Settings options include Personalized settings, Account Setting, and PIN Code

Management. 1) Personalized settings

It includes Start settings, Auto connect settings and Quit confirm settings. a) Start settings

Click Settings, select Personalized settings > Start settings, and open the window of Start-up Setting. If you select Automatically run at system start-up and press OK, the client will be automatically launched at system start-up next time. b) Auto connect settings

Click settings, select Personalized settings > Auto connect settings, and open the window of automatic connection setting. Please select the sequence of automatic connection according to your personal demand. After the setting complete, it will dial up to access internet with the set sequence when you click automatic connection button in the main interface next time.

When you check the "ChinaNet(WLAN) abnormal break automatically connect to ChinaNet(3G)", the client will carry out correspondent operation. When you select the "Remind to switch or not", the client will remind you to switch network when it find signal of ChinaNet(WLAN).

c)

Quit confirm settings

Click settings, select Personalized settings > Quit confirm settings, and open the window of quit-confirm setting. Please select operation according to your personal demand when click close button. When you check the "Do not notice me again, the client will carry out correspondent operation. If you uncheck and click close button, it will quit the window of confirmation.

Account Setting It includes ChinaNet(WLAN) account settings, ChinaNet(Home) account settings and

VPDN settings.. a) ChinaNet(WLAN) account settings

Click Settings, select Account settings > ChinaNet(WLAN) account settings, then enter account and password of ChinaNet(WLAN) and select the province which you belong to. If you select Use international roaming and press OK, the client will connect ChinaNet(WLAN) in WLAN network environment of foreign co-operators.

b)

ChinaNet(Home) account settings

Click Settings, select Account settings > ChinaNet(Home) account settings, then enter SSID and password of ChinaNet(Home). If you select Home(WLAN) dial first and press OK, the client will give high priority to ChinaNet(Home) for ChinaNet(WLAN) access when there are ChinaNet(WLAN) entertainment and ChinaNet(Home) entertainment at the same time. If you select Dial with pppoe, the interface will increase the input box of PPPOE account and password. Enter PPPOE account and password , input press OK, the client will save the information entered. When there is ChinaNet(Home) entertainment, if you click Connect on

ChinaNet(WLAN), the client will connect AP of ChinaNet(Home) and dial-up PPPOE.

c)

VPDN settings

Click Settings, select Account settings > VPDN account settings, then enter name, account and password of VPDN. If you select Use vpdn dial and press OK, the client will connect to VPND network when you connect with ChinaNet(3G) or ChinaNet(1X).

PIN Code Management PIN code can prevent your WLAN (1X) and WLAN (3G) service from illegal uses. You can

change your PIN code, or enable PIN code protection in the settings. a) Enable/disable PIN code protection

If PIN code protection is enabled, your PIN code needs to be verified when the wireless broadband client is launched next time. b) Change PIN code Click Settings, select PIN Code Management > Change PIN Code, and then input the current PIN code and a new one. At last, click Confirm to finish. Note: The length of PIN code is required to be of 4-8-digits. c) Verify PIN code

After the PIN code protection is enabled, you need to enter the correct PIN code to use the Internet services and applications of Wireless Broadband (1X) or Wireless Broadband (3G). Note: The system will remind you of the remaining times for entering PIN code. If the number of

consecutive wrong inputs exceeds that allowed, your UIM card will be locked. If so, you have to use PUK code to unlock the card, otherwise you can't execute any operations related to UIM card. d) You still can dial emergency numbers if your UIM card is locked. Use PUK code to unlock UIM card If your UIM card is locked, the dialog box of Use PUK to Unlock will pop out after

you launch China Telecoms Wireless Broadband Client.

Note:

Enter the correct PUK code. Enter a new PIN code. Click Confirm to finish.

The system will remind you of the remaining times for entering PUK code. If the number of

consecutive wrong inputs exceeds that allowed, your UIM card cant be unlocked.

Tools Tools options include Network card driver management and Upgrade.

1)

Network card driver management a) Delete the network card drivers

Click "Tools", select "Network card driver management" > "Delete the network card drivers", Delete the installed drivers. b) Download network card driver

Click "Tools", select "Network card driver management" > "Download network card driver", you can get the list of drivers, and then choose the applicable one (according to its manufacturer and type) to download and install. When you click Download, you can define the save path first, and then download the selected driver from the Internet to a local path. It will install automatically. If you click Download and Install, the system will automatically download the driver, save it in the designated path and start installation. 2) Upgrade a) Software upgrade

The client software supports manual and automatic online upgrading. The client will automatically check new versions on a regular basis. If there is a new version, you can choose whether or not to upgrade. If you select Software Upgrade, it will immediately check whether there is a new version. If there is one, you can choose whether or not to upgrade. After the process of downloading upgrade pack starts, you can cancel it manually. The features of new functions will take effect after the client is reset.

b)

UIM card upgrade

Click Tools, select Upgrade > UIM card upgrade. After the upgrading, the latest frequency information will be added and perfect domestic and international roaming services will be provided continuously for you.
