"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways ..."
(Isaiah 55:9)
When we returned to live in our tribal village of Taperillas this past January, we anticipated doing both the translation comprehension checking, and helping a young couple (Rodrigo & Mabel) who were learning the Simba language in Taperillas in preparation to work with the Simba people. Unfortunately, due to health problems, Rodrigo & Mabel have been unable to return to Taperillas. In fact, nearly all of our Simba co-workers are currently out of the work for medical reasons. At times we've been discouraged as we consider how very few are working amongst the Simba. However, the Lord has had other plans well underway! At the Taperillas conference in March, we were amazed to see what the Lord had been doing to prepare two young men to serve Him in one of the Simba communities further south. Salomn, the 20-year old son of our translation helper Julio, moved into the Simba village of Ipati-Yaguapa this past Fall after accompanying Julio to a Simba conference and becoming burdened there to work amongst the Simba youth. Helping Salomn with the music at that same conference was Michel, a Bolivian friend who also had a heart to evangelize and disciple the Simba people. Michel moved with Salomn to Ipati-Yaguapa, and lived there with the Simba people for two months this past Fall learning the Simba language and culture. We were very impressed with how well Michel could communicate in the Simba language after just two months of study! Here are two budding missionaries to the Simba the Lord has been preparing! At the Taperillas conference in March, Salomn and Michel led the music, and also assisted in the teaching. Salomn taught the adults twice. Even though he studied through High School in Spanish, he is very fluent in Simba. Like Julio, Salomn is a gifted teacher, able to hold the attention of his listeners for an hour or more! Michel taught the children, and was continually surrounded by children and youth for most of his time in Taperillas! Salomn and Michel have now returned to Ipati-Yaguapa to continue working there with the Simba youth, and in Michel's case, to continue learning the Simba language and culture. Please pray for these two young men.
* Praise the Lord that our co-worker, Larry, has completed his cancer treatments and expects to return to Bolivia soon. Please pray Rodrigo &
Mabel will also be restored to good health soon. * Praise the Lord for the successful translation
check in February ... the New Testament books of Colossians, Philippians & James have now been finalized.
Watching the Simba believers butcher a cow, and cut and prepare all the meat (using nearly every part of the cow) was quite the experience!
* Please pray as we continue the comprehension checking on several other New Testament books in preparation for another final check in July. * Praise the Lord for our son Josh's upcoming
wedding, and for the provision for us to be able to take part in this special time with our family. Please pray for Josh & Michelle as they begin their new life together!
* Please pray for Jonathan as he prepares to fill in for six weeks this summer for the pastor of the church where he now works as Youth Pastor. * Please pray for Jesse as he completes a summer course this month, and also prepares to work as a counsellor again this summer at Camp Sagitawa.
With Michel helping to teach the children, Kathleen was able to help the women with the food preparation ... this was a good time of fellowship with the Simba women.
In closing we want to thank each of you who uphold the Simba work with your encouragement, support, and prayers. We are so grateful for you--
