We the parishioners of Saint Michael the Archangel, through leadership and strong traditions are faithful disciples of the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Catholic Church. We commit ourselves to be generous stewards of our faith, our parish, and our community. We strive to involve all members to be united in one parish family for the salvation of all. Notes from the Pastor: What a moment of grace and a wonderful celebration we had last Sunday with our confirmation mass with Bishop Jackels. It was more meaningful as it would most probably be Bishop Jackels last act in Girard as our bishop in Wichita. But of course it was most meaningful with the grace of the sacrament that our High School kids had received. Thank you to their parents for their unwavering support, thank to our Confirmation Team for all their sacrifices: Mary McClaskey, Dr. Adam Paoni, Michelle Puckett and Pat Westhoff; thank you to our Altar Society for hosting the dinner for the occasion, to our choir and musician, and our Arts and Environments committee, and for all who helped to make the occasion a success and meaningful! Again, congratulations to all! Thanks be to God and we receive another moment of grace this weekend. Congratulations to our Second Graders who receive their first communion this Sunday, April 28 th: Trevor Amershek, Laklyn Arthur, Alex Brake, Elli DeGruson, Sara Goble, Brandon Leritz, Jaden Norris, Kaleb Scales, and Dawson Stegman. Thank you to their parents for their wholehearted support and for their catechist, Janel Scales. Please continue to pray for these children that the grace they receive will help them grow strong and mature in their faith. On a sad note: Dave and Jean Diskin are selling their house in Girard and moves to their farm house close to Saint Paul. Consequently as they are very much closer to St. Francis than here, they are leaving our parish. Jean also has to give up her parish council position and their slot for adoration from 8:00AM to 9:00AM. If any of you are interested to take that time to spend in adoration of the blessed Eucharist, please call our parish office. We are also now considering her replacement for the parish council. From our Stewardship Form you returned last November, the following have expressed their intention to serve at the parish council: Jim OToole, Marilyn McCracken, and Dennis Heidrick. To choose one of them, my plan is to follow the biblical way when the apostles chose Next Sunday(05/05/13) 10:00 AM Cooper Puckett, M. Reif, Mitch Adams, M. McDonald Anna Goble 8th Graders 8th Graders a replacement for Judas Escariote. We will put all the names rolled in a piece of paper. On Pentecost Sunday, that is May 19th this year, we will pick one of the names. But before that we will have to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to guide us in the selection. Please pray for us that we will be able to decide according to Gods will. Change of plan: Ushers/Greeters meeting is moved to May 4th 5th weekend as some of those who signed up are first communion parents. So please take note of this change. Also next week, we will have our May Crowning at the 10AM Sunday mass and 8th grade recognition. Children 1st to 8th grades are invited to join in procession of flowers and candles to crown the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary. There will be a Virtus training session scheduled at 7:00 p.m. after Mass on Wed. May 8 in the large class room at St. Michael Hall in Girard. All who have an interest in helping with the youth this is your opportunity to attend. Finally, thank you for celebrating with me the 27 th year anniversary of my ordination to the priesthood. Thank you for all your greeting cards and gifts. Your kind words are so encouraging and inspiring. Thank you to our Parish Council for organizing the reception and all who came to join us. May God bless you always! Fr. Roger
