2. First Launch
After you have successfully purchased and installed Celtx Script on your iPad/iPhone, open the app to view the Scripts page. Celtx Script ships with the Wonderful Wizard of Oz sample script.

The Scripts page is your main reference page. From this page you can: Start a new script. Select a script for editing. Sync your script with Celtx on your desktop and in the cloud. Select a script to delete or duplicate. Select a script to change script title and author.

3. Starting A New Script


Celtx Script supports scripts written for film, theatre, audio-visual, comic, and audio play productions. To start a new script, select the button on the Scripts page.

Your new script will appear on the Scripts page.

3.1. Setting Script Name and Author


While in the Scripts page tap the script's title to open the Script Name & Author dialog. Enter the script name and author(s).

4. Writing/Editing a Script
To begin writing or editing a script, tap the script icon on the Scripts page.

4.1. Writing/Editing a Script on the iPad


Once the script is open you can tap into the script to begin writing and editing. You can switch the script elements: by tapping an icon in the element toolbar by tapping the tab button by tapping the 'return' key by double tapping the space bar by using 'tab' on an external keyboard.

Once you have finished a writing session simply close out Celtx Script and your script(s) will be saved to your iPad.

4.2. Writing/Editing a Script on the iPhone


Once the script is open you can tap into the script to begin writing and editing.

You can select script elements by tapping the from the pop-up menu.

Once you have finished a writing session simply close out Celtx Script and your script(s) will be saved to your iPhone.

4.3. Element Transitions


The transition between elements in Celtx Script is consistent with writing a screenplay, AV script, stageplay, comic book or audio play in your Celtx desktop software.

4.4. Undo/Redo
Celtx Script supports undoing and redoing script edits using the 'Undo' and 'Redo' buttons

4.5. Cut/Copy/Paste/Delete & Bold/Underline/Italics


Celtx Script supports cut/copy/paste/delete of text and notes, and bold/underline/italics of text. To enable, tap and hold the script to bring up the magnifier for precise cursor placement. Then, release to bring up the 'Select/Select All/Paste' dialog.

Choose 'Select' to select a single word. You can also drag the edges of the highlighted text to select a full element or more than one element. Choose 'Select All' to select all the text in a script.

To cut or copy text (and notes), select 'Cut' or 'Copy', then tap the desired location in the script, hold to bring up the magnifier, then select 'Paste'. To delete text select 'Delete'.

To bold, italicize, or underline text, select 'More', then choose 'Bold', 'Italic' or 'Underline'.

4.6. Notes
Celtx Script supports annotating a script with notes. Notes created in Celtx Script will be carried over to Celtx on the desktop and other mobile devices during the sync process. Likewise, notes created in Celtx on the desktop will be carried over to Celtx Script during the sync process. To create a note in Celtx Script, tap to position the cursor in the desired location in the script, then select the button on the iPad (or button on the iPhone) to bring up a blank note.

You can also change the colour of your note by selecting the 'Colour' button and tapping the colour of your choice. When you're done simply tap outside the note (iPad) or select 'Done' (iPhone).

5. Working with Full Scenes


Celtx Script supports quick jump to scene #, reordering scenes, and deleting scenes. To pull up the Scene menu select the button while viewing the script.

5.1. Quick Jump To Scene #


Scroll through the list and tap to jump to the scene you wish to review or edit.

5.2. Reordering Scenes


Select the 'Edit' button, then tap and drag the button on the right hand side of the scene you wish to reorder. Then select 'Done' and review your new scene order in your script.

5.3. Deleting Scenes


Select the 'Edit' button, then tap the button on the left hand side of the scene you wish to delete. Then select 'Delete' to delete the scene from your script.

6. Page Viewing & Printing


Celtx Script supports page and font zoom, page numbering, wrap to screen (iPhone), page formatting (US Letter or A4), parchment background, AirPrint, and emailing a script as a 'Text' or 'PDF' file.

6.1. Page And Font Zoom


Page and font size on the screen can be set to your viewing/editing preference. The size can be adjusted from 50% to 400% scale using the iPad's/iPhone's thumb and forefinger 'pinch/zoom'.

6.2. Page Numbering


Celtx Script numbers each page of the script. The page numbering and content on screen corresponds to the page numbering/content as printed in hard-copy or PDF formats. You can elect to view and print the first page number by selecting the First Page Number'. button and enabling 'Show

6.3. Wrap to Screen (iPhone)


You can elect to wrap your script to the iPhone's screen dimensions by selecting the button and enabling 'Wrap to Screen'. You can also adjust the font size used in wrap to screen mode. Wrap to screen mode is for viewing/editing convenience only your script will appear properly formatted when printed as a hard-copy or when emailed as a text or PDF file.

Editing 'Notes' in 'Wrap to Screen' mode. While in 'Wrap to Screen' mode, notes can be difficult to select and open. If you are mainly editing notes, we suggest you temporarily turn off 'Wrap to Screen' and enlarge the script (see 6.1 Page and Font Zoom) to make notes easier to select and open.

6.4. Page Formatting (US Letter or A4)


You can elect to view and print your script in different formats by selecting the choosing between 'US Letter' and 'A4'. button and

6.5. Parchment Background


You can elect to view and edit your scripts using a parchment background by selecting the button and enabling 'Parchment Background'.

6.6. Print and E-mail as Text or PDF


You can print or email your script by selecting the 'E-mail as PDF'. button and selecting 'Print', 'E-mail as Text' or

7.

Syncing Scripts

You can sync scripts on your iPad/iPhone with Celtx on other devices (mobile, desktop and cloud). Script syncing is free and provides valuable benefits: You can write your scripts anytime, anywhere and always work off the latest version. You will have made a backup of the scripts on your mobile device (and avoid catastrophe if your iPad/iPhone is lost, stolen or broken, or if your script is mistakenly deleted). To sync your scripts select the icon on the Scripts page.

You will be presented with a create account/sign in dialog. A free, private Celtx account is required to sync scripts. This account also provides you other free cloud-based Celtx services: Controlled project collaboration. Project & file versions. Web-based script editing. 2 GB of file storage.

7.1. Creating a Free Account (one time event)


To create a free account enter your email and password and select the 'Create a Free Account' button.

You will be presented with a Thank You message. Follow the direction in this message to check your email to activate your account. Once activated, return to Celtx Script and sign in to your account to sync your scripts.

7.2. Signing In
NOTE: If you have previously been using 'Celtx Sync' (Celtx Script v1.1 and older) you will need to create a new account. We have replaced Sync with free Celtx Services. To sign in, enter your account email address and password and select the 'Sign In' button.

Upon sign in your scripts will immediately sync. And, because Celtx Script remembers your login information, your scripts will sync every time thereafter that you press the button. If you are experiencing trouble signing in, please select the 'Trouble Signing In' button for directions on how to obtain further help.

7.3. Resetting Login


You can reset the automatic login on your iPhone/iPad by selecting selecting 'Script', then turning Remember Login 'OFF'. then scrolling down to and

The next time you attempt to sync a script you will be presented with the Celtx Services create account/sign in dialog.

7.4. Using your Celtx Account to Sync Scripts


Upon signing in to your Celtx account , scripts on your iPad/iPhone will be synced with scripts in your Celtx account. If the newer version is on your iPhone/iPad it will replace the version in your Celtx account. If the newer version is in your Celtx account it will replace the version on your iPhone/iPad. Because your Celtx account keeps a full history of every sync, you will always be able to retrieve an older version of your script. Retrieving a script is covered in the Celtx Services Owner's Manual.

7.5. Syncing Scripts With Your Celtx Desktop Software


To sync scripts please first ensure that you have downloaded and installed the latest version of the Celtx desktop software (version 2.9.5 or higher), available free at http://celtx.com. Once the Celtx desktop software is installed you can sync scripts between your desktop and mobile devices. Note that all script formatting and script markup is preserved during the sync process. Opening Scripts In Your Celtx Desktop Software You can open scripts synced into your Celtx account directly into your Celtx desktop software.

1. Open the appropriate project template in your Celtx desktop software ('Film' for screenplays,
'Audio-Visual' for AV scripts, 'Theatre' for stageplays, 'Comic Book' for comics, 'Audio Play' for audio plays). 2. Select the Services button (or 'File->Open from Celtx') 3. Sign in with your Celtx account (ensure 'Location' is set as 'Celtx Services')

After signing in you will see a dialog showing scripts in your Celtx Account. Select a script to download into Celtx on your desktop and select 'OK'.

Saving Scripts From Your Celtx Desktop Software You can save scripts from your Celtx desktop software to your Celtx account. These saved scripts will be synced with your mobile devices the next time you select the button on your mobile device.

1. Sign into your Celtx account in your desktop software (If not already signed in, see sign in
instructions in Opening Scripts in Your Celtx Desktop Software) 2. Select 'File->Save to Celtx'. You will be presented with a dialog.

3. Title your script and select the 'OK' button. 4. Your project is now saved to your Celtx account.

8. Deleting a Script
To delete a script select the button on the Scripts page.

Then tap to highlight the appropriate script and select the

button.

Note: deleting a synced script will also remove the script from your Celtx account and other mobile devices during the next sync.

9. Duplicating a Script
To duplicate a script select the button on the Scripts page.

Then tap to highlight the appropriate script and select the
