Graduate Assistant Position Description: Casual Worker Title: Graduate Assistant, Womens Resource Center Department: Womens Resource Center Time base: 20 hours per week Schedule: Varies, Monday Friday, 8:00am 5:00pm, some evenings and weekends Salary: $887/month The Womens Resource Center is designed to foster a campus environment that values learning about the histories, cultures and contributions of women. The WRC provides programs and services to support and empower the campus community. These include student leadership opportunities, engagement with faculty and research on womens issues, education and advocacy around campus safety, sexual assault and domestic violence, peer mentoring, campus programs and events on issues pertaining to women and society, academic persistence and the support of gender equity and social justice for all students. The graduate assistant will gain experience with but not limited to: Advising of students Supervision support of student assistants and student volunteers Fiscal management support Programming Assessment and program evaluation Facilitation and training Position Summary: The Casual Worker position is responsible for assisting with the on-going development and coordination of the Womens Resource Centers programs, resources and services. Under the direct supervision of the Womens Resource Center Director, the Casual Worker position would assist in the day to day operations of the WRC; and assist with the supervision and advising of the WRC student assistants. General Duties: Assist in continuing development and maintenance of a long term vision for a growing relationship with various constituencies on campus. Support and collaborate with WRC student staff and relevant student organizations in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a broad variety of women and gender-based programs. Provide leadership to and co-advise students in planning of events. Assess the needs of women at CSUDH and evaluate resources currently available. Contribute to developing a plan of action to address unmet needs. Participate as an active member of the WRC staff; attend meetings, retreats, trainings, and provide support to major department-wide programs. Meet regularly with supervisor to provide updates, monitor performance, and seek guidance Programming Support: Assist and support the Director with program planning and implementation. Specific programming support for Womens History month and other gender-based programs and events. Attendance at these events may be a part of the job. Research Support: Conduct research on various gender or identity related topics to educate and improve program quality. Assessment Data Entry: Create surveys, implement, and process data into usable reports. Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

Knowledge and Skills: Ability to develop campus based programs that address womens and social justice issues. Comfortable working with a wide range of diverse student populations. Ability to advocate for students concerns. Administrative and technology skills. Ability to perform detail-oriented projects. Ability to apply student development theories to practice. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills Ability to maintain professionalism and determine appropriate application of policies or guidelines Preferred Qualifications: General knowledge of the principles of individual and group behavior Ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in planning events and student involvement Ability to advise students individually and in groups on routine matters where required Ability to work in a fast paced environment with interruptions Ability to work independently and at times with minimal supervision Ability to comply with all CSU Dominguez Hills confidentiality policies Note: Exceptions to the stated minimum eligibility qualifications may be granted at the sole discretion of the University.
