OVERVIEW OF iPHONE

iPhones are multimedia-enabled smartphones marketed by Apple Inc. The iPhone runs on an operating system known as iOS (formerly iPhone OS). Third-party as well as Apple application software is available from the App Store, which launched in mid-2008 and now has over 500,000 "apps" approved by Apple. There are five generations of iPhone models, each accompanied by one of the five major releases of iOS (formerly iPhone OS).The latest model is the iPhone 4S which was released on October 4,2011. The iPhone 4S added a higher resolution camera (8 megapixel) with 1080p video recording, face detection, and video stabilization, a faster, dual core processor, support for both GSM/UMTS and CDMA on one chip, GLONASS support and a natural language voice control system called Siri

Android is a Linux-based operating system for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers. It is developed by the Open Handset Alliance led by Google. Android has a large community of developers writing applications ("apps") that extend the functionality of the devices. Developers write primarily in a customized version of Java.[18] Apps can be downloaded from third-party sites or through online stores such as Android Market, the app store run by Google. As of February 2012 there were more than 450,000 apps available for Android, and the

estimated number of applications downloaded from the Android Market as of December 2011 exceeded 10 billion

Type of System

Iphone
Closed System which means Apps from Apples App store can only be run on IOS. Needs approval from Apple Inc.

Android
Open System which means Apps can be downloaded from Android market or any other third party software markets. Needs no approval from Google. The chances of having virus or security holes are more since it is an open source system. Android has less applications compared to iPhone and most of them are available for free download.We have around 450,000 Android applications as of now.

Security

Since it is a closed system the risk of virus is minimal. Apples app store has more applications compared to Android and can be downloaded from a single place.However the number of free applications available are less compared to Android .We have around 500,000 applications available in App store as of now. Easy to use and has a more standardized UI feel.

Not as intuitive as iPhones. Android phones have bigger screens . Bigger screens are just easier on the eyes, and they don't force you to zoom in as much to read text and is more suited for watching HD videos

Screen Size and Quality

All the iphone versions have the same 3.5 inches screen and is not the best Gadget for viewing HD videos

Widgets

Limited support for widget applications.

Wide variety of widget applications available.This widgets can be placed in the notification area.
