ARCHMERE ACADEMY PRESENTS THE 6TH ANNUAL FINE ARTS FESTIVAL (Claymont, DE) March 13, 2013 On Saturday, March 23, 2013, Archmere Academy will celebrate its sixth annual Fine Arts Festival. The event will feature artwork from the schools variously talented students enrolled in its award-winning Fine Arts Program, taking place from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Patio, a building on the National Historic Register. The festival will feature two Archmere alumni artists and siblings, Ben Phelan 01 and Amanda Phelan 06. Ben Phelan is a New York Independent Artist who earned his BFA at the Rhode Island School of Design. His work has been included in a variety of group exhibits in Philadelphia and Brooklyn, NY. He recently presented a solo exhibit titled Vitalistic Aliasing, at the Primetime in Brooklyn. Amanda Phelan is a textile designer in New York City who graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design. Currently the Assistant Knitwear Designer for American fashion designer Alexander Wang, Amanda has also designed for Nicole Miller and VPL for Victoria Bartlett. Her work has appeared on the runway in numerous fashion shows. The formal program, including performances by the Stage Band and the Mastersingers, will begin at 6:00 p.m. Prints of Archmere faculty member Terry Newitts 2012 Patio painting, Yellow Brick Home will be available for purchase. Proceeds benefit the Manor Restoration Fund for the Arts, to repair and renovate the schools art building.

The Fine Arts Festival is open to the public & free of charge. Light refreshments will be served.
