HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS: ARCHMERE ALUMNI RETURN TO THE PATIO TO PERFORM IN CHRISTMAS OPERA (Claymont DE) On December 16, 2012 talented Archmere alumni will return home to perform a renowned family opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors in historical Patio at Archmere Academy. This is the first concert of the 2012-2013 Concert Green Series, a fundraising initiative hosted by The Friends of The Patio organization, which raises funds for the restoration and preservation of The Patio building. Talented actors and singers form the Archmere family along with a guest choir from Saint Joseph will present the opera Amahl and the Night Visitors, written by Gian Carlo Menotti. Come and witness the miracle of the Christ child as experienced in the life of a crippled boy, played by Anthony Penna (son of Rob 85 and Melanie Penna) and his Mother, played by Megan Wozniak Ede 90 of Wilmington. Mother and son are visited by the three kings, who guided by the Eastern Star, are on their way to see the New Born King. Returning to sing the role of the kings and their page are Christian Ryan 87 of New York, class of 87, Antonio Sacre 86 of Los Angeles, Brian Gilmore 88 of Philadelphia, and Sean Filliben 86 of Wilmington. The fifty-minute opera with orchestral accompaniment features oboist Susan Nowaczyk Ritter 89, is sung in English, and will truly delight opera lovers and novices with the message of Christmas. The holiday enchantment of the Patio is not to be missed! The production at Archmere Academy, directed by former Archmere faculty member Mary Ellen Schauber, will feature a guest choir from Saint Josephs on the Brandywine. Come and witness this remarkable performance on December 16 at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are thirtyfiver dollars per adult and twenty dollars per student which may be purchased online at www.archmereacademy.com/friendsofthepatio.
