members of the class of 2013 are certainly ready to move forward, and, this year, they are also ready to give back. As one of their post-prom activities, the seniors will band together at 1:15 on Friday, May 31st to participate in a community service project with 'Stop Hunger Now, an international hunger relief organization that coordinates the distribution of food and other life-saving aid around the world. The mission for the day is to package 20,000 meals for the needy with student assembly lines in the Student Life Center (SLC). Spearheaded by senior class parents, this project represents a coming together of the entire Archmere community. The meal bags containing rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a flavoring mix with 21 essential vitamins and minerals, were purchased through the generous donations of the post prom committee, the Archmere administration, the Father's Club and Mother's Guild of Archmere, private donors, and the Archmere student body. One student fundraiser for the project was a dress down day, on which each Archmere student could give $2 toward the effort and in return have one uniform-free school day. As our seniors graduate it is appropriate that they pause, before leaving our local community, to give back to an international community, says Archmere Principal John Jordan 80. Service, as you know, is a core value or component in an Archmere education.
