Im driven by producing products that people can hold and appreciate for the smell of ink, quality of print or stock choice. I am going to complete research driven briefs for the educational sector aimed at varied audiences including: Northern skateboarders, Musicians, Museums, Book shops, Students and Children. I am a graphic designer, who focuses on image making, producing work that pays attention to both geometry and symmetry with a strong interest in the response of the viewer. Research driven content & concepts executed through a range of practical process including print finishing, screen-printing and laser cutting. Concentrating on informing and educating my audience through publication design and handcrafted printed matter.

Project File Evaluation Title and Brief Summary include a short rationale for each brief identifying why you chose it, what was the focus of the brief and how long you spent on it. Design Context My design context is a 20 page publication exposing Artists, Graphic artists designers and Illustrators that have inspired me throughout FMP. The book is split into 4 sections Looking at print, publication, fashion and music and Illustration, these broad subjects allowed me to research into a variety of different creatives rather than just solely focusing on graphic design. My design context has been an ongoing research tool but the production and making of my book came together over the period of a week. Brief One focused on producing a skateboard range and event to promote Northern skateboarding and the clothing brand The Universes pupils. I chose it so I could research into current skateboarding culture and brands associated with the scene, whilst also giving me a chance to work with an unusual format of deliverables. I spent around 6 weeks on this brief, mainly experimenting with print processes and the application of printing vinyl onto wood. Brief two involved me completing the branding and Identity for the Musician Sigmafly along with a complete CD and Vinyl pack with promotional material. I chose this brief so I could work alongside a client involved in the music Industry and have a range of deliverables that would be taken to professional print. This brief allowed me to start working to more formats Ive never experimented with before, like Vinyl covers and CD sleeves, my portfolio includes mainly print, this brief allowed me to experiment with both print and product. Brief 3 was incomplete down to over estimating my time schedule on other briefs and poor time management.

BRIEF 3

BRIEF 4

Brief 4 was a collaboration between me and Oliver Cassell, researching the Pyramids of Giza finding strange facts surrounding their construction and relationship with the star constellation Orion. This brief has been going on for the whole duration of FMP as the content took along time to collate. The focus of the brief is to produce a publication with corresponding promotional material advertising an event running alongside the publications launch. I chose this brief as Im really interested in Egyptology and I work much better within a collaboration with the pressure of a partner, This brief allowed me to do a lot of drawings, working on both my hand rendered and digital illustration skills. Brief 5 was dropped as the client I was working with changed his focus of what I had been hired to complete.

BRIEF 5

BRIEF 6

Brief 6 was a brief for a fellow student of the Art college, photographer Beth owen and included designing and creating an Identity she could use as a creative to represent the field she works within. I chose this brief as I enjoy working with branding and Identity and in previous modules I found my work lacked in depth concept building, I thought that a branding and Identity brief would resolve this, giving me the opportunity to built a concept for the way Beth is perceived.
