Full Time Programs The UP ITTCs full-time Certificate Programs offer concentrated and in-depth lessons on both technical

and soft skills needed in the IT industry today. The IT Fundamentals Track prepares students for the Philippine National I.T. Standards (PhilNITS) Fundamental Engineer (FE) examinations held bi-annually (April and October). In this track, students with little or no IT background will be equipped with the skills necessary in the other programming-intensive tracks. Students will be taught introductory computer science courses including algorithm design and programming in a first language. The Applications Development Track trains students to become the IT industrys leading software engineers, web developers, system analysts, and database developers. The main objective of this track is to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills in designing and developing software systems and applications. Students will learn how to develop software projects that highly conform to the IT industrys software engineering best practices. The Network and Systems Administration Track covers the design, implementation, and maintenance of computer networks and includes courses such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA Exploration 1-4), Linux Professional Institute (LPI 101, 102, 201, 202), and Microsoft Windows Server Administration. In this track, students use and configure network equipment such as routers, switches, wireless access points, firewalls, VPN concentrators, voice gateways, and IP phones, to name a few. Graduates of this track are employed as IT support engineers, network administrators, system administrators, and IT managers. The Mobile and Embedded Software Development Track trains students to develop software for mobile and embedded computers. In this track, students are also trained to program and handle projects for Android phones and devices, iOS devices such as iPhones and iPads, devices running Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango), and other embedded systems. Considering that 99% of the worlds computers nowadays are softwar ized embedded systems, mobile and embedded software developers are highly in demand locally and internationally. The Game Design and Development Track focuses on the foundational knowledge of creating 2D and 3D Video Games. In this track, students will understand fundamental key components and programming paradigms to create their own games from the ground up using C++, OpenGL, and OpenAL. The track will also give students a glimpse of rapid video game development using Unity3D. Aside from Business and Communication Skills courses, UP ITTC full-time students may also take the Japanese Language course as an elective. The course will serve as a preparation for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) Levels N5 and N4. The full-time Certificate Programs run for four quarters (10 weeks/quarter). Classes are held from Monday to Friday, 8 am- 5 pm. Short Courses The UP ITDC also offers short course programs for IT professionals and students who wish to augment or upgrade their skill set. Please visit UP ITDC Short Courses for more details.

The University of the Philippines Information Technology Center (UP ITTC) was established on February 26, 2004. Upon the recommendation of then UP President Francisco Nemenzo, the UP Board of Regents (BOR) approved the creation of the ITTC Program under the Office of the Vice President for Development. The Center was created as a key component of the project funded by the Japan International Coop eration Agency (JICA). This project was dubbed as the Japan-Philippines Technical Cooperation Project on Philippine IT Human Resources Development (ITHRD). The primary goal of the project was to conduct high-level and practical IT training

in cooperation with universities and companies and consequently fill in the gap in the local IT industry. The UP ITTC started its operation on July 20, 2004, and throughout the four-year duration of the project, the Center has relentlessly implemented a host of programs and activities that are geared toward the achievement of the programs goals and objectives. Due to the successful implementation of its mandate, the UP ITTCs ties with JICA lasted for close to seven years.
