Two Day Thought Leadership Conference June 25th and 26th, Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa, San Diego, CA

Optimize e ciency, reduce operational costs and predict energy demands.

Developing an analytics strategy Breaking down internal silos aligning technical expertise with business management to create internal integration for analytics processes. Establishing management buy-in and company policies for internal access and culling data. Understand how to use analytics for real-time decision making vs. just historical info/ reporting. Investigating data monetization The worst case scenario for any utility is having an amazing idea of how they want to utilize analytics to streamline processes, but not having an ROI case. Evaluate how to identify the true costs and how to use data to drive value through new products, services and business models. Overcome distribution management challenges Understand how to resolve outage problems using the latest analytics tools. How Operational Intelligence (OI) tools and SCADA can provide immediate benets that include: reduction in outage durations, reduction in outage frequencies and improved customer satisfaction. Optimizing asset performance Facilitate the most e cient asset health management and ensure you have the software necessary to prevent theft, fraud and recognize tamper detection. Achieving an enterprise-wide IT architecture GTM Research projects that U.S. utilities will spend $8.2 billion on enterprise IT through 2015 as they struggle to manage the ood of data from smart grid deployments and integrate it into legacy IT systems. Hear how one leading utility is creating a centralized system to manage this challenge.

I thought the conference was very good well-organized and managed, great content and a great venue. Please have more events!
If knowledge is power, then todays utilities have more power at their disposal than ever before. The vast amounts of data being collected through smart meters and other system sensors have increased by an exorbitant amount, but not all of that information is being converted into meaningful intelligence. Having invested in the means to gather masses of data from their grids and networks, utilities are now grappling with the looming issue: What should be done with this data to meet the objective of their smart grid deployments and, presumably, generate a return on their investments? There is no clear-cut answer to this question, but this conference will help bring about a better understanding of what data management can do, why you should be using it and how much it really costs (both upfront and in time to implement) with real life-examples. As we saw by the number of sessions that addressed data management at DistribuTECH this year, its the hottest topic in the industry right now. This conference aims to show why utilities are increasingly relying on data analytics and how you can optimize e ciency, reduce operational costs and predict energy demands through it. I gained a lot of knowledge in a short amount of time and was able to make some connections with industry/ vendor reps. This is only my third conference that I have ever attended and I can tell you that without a doubt that it was the best! The sequencing, the speakers, the topical themes.
Edward David, Learning Svcs. Instructor/ Process Improvement, Pacic Gas & Electric Company
