Student Books & Music Student books and music will be chosen by the teacher, with student input. These materials are provided by the teacher, and billed to the parentunless the parent opts to purchase these materials personallyat local music stores, or online. The basic curriculum used for the first several years is Faber's Piano Adventures. Other materials are provided with the registration fee (See Registration Fee). Registration Fee An annual registration fee is due August 1st for each school year. This cost: confirms student registration, reserves a spot with Love Family Piano, covers two festival registration fees, and provides studio and student materials. These materials may include, (but are not limited to): Music Tech Time equipment, iPad and computer station apps and games, recital programs, supplemental exercises, and handouts. This cost may also cover: student recording CDs, and studio activity refreshments. Students are also allowed to borrow music from the lending library. We invest it buying new music, and replacing old music for student use. We also invest in new and updated technology for students to use. This fee does not include student books. Tuition & Payment Tuition includes private lessons, Music Tech Time, group lessons known as master class, studio recitals, festivals, and field trips. Students are encouraged to attend all studio activities. Tuition is not pro-rated for students who chose to not participate in any of the above-mentioned events. Tuition is to be paid on time in one of three methods: o In full at the beginning of the school year (Due September 1, 2013) o At the beginning of each semester (Due September 1, 2013 and January 1, 2014) or o The first day of each month (September 1, 2013 May 1, 2014). The teacher reserves the right to terminate lessons if payment is not made by the due date. Tuition may be paid in cash, or check made out to Love Family Piano (Also See Online Payment). Online Payment Payments may be paid online (logged-in to your personal account via Paypal). Paypal charges an additional 3.5% transaction fee, so you can calculate this and include it in your payment ahead of time, or you can simply wait for the fee to be charged to your account on the following invoice. Some families find the $3.50 on every $100 spent worth the convenience of saved time. You may also set up your account to make automatic monthly recurring payments.

Calendar & Schedule Lesson times and events can be found by logging on to the studio website, www.RexburgMusic.com, and entering your personal account. It is the parents responsibility to stay up-to-date on the studio calendar by visiting the website. In addition, events are posted on our Facebook page. The weekly lesson schedule is determined after the registration window closes. All students are scheduled at once according to availability calendars submitted with registration forms. Availability calendars should be completely filled in, and periodically updated with Denae if your availability changes. Lesson days and times may need to be rearranged in rare cases, and we would like an idea of possibilities before contacting you for a change. A pre-piano class is formed as soon as three students register. When the number reaches 7 students, the class will be divided, and a new class is formed. Because of this, your scheduled class day or time may change with advanced notice and parental consent. Missed Lessons & Rescheduling Students who notify the teacher 24 hours in advance of a foreseen absence may receive a make-up lesson; it is not guaranteed. Students who need to miss due to a family emergency or illness, and notify the teacher as soon as possible, will be considered for a make-up at the teachers convenience. Due to the teachers limited availability, students who fail to notify their teacher of an absence, for any reason, will not receive a make-up lesson. Please be courteous and respectful to the time of the teacher and other students. Most make-up lessons use twice as much time as a scheduled lessona sacrifice the teacher is willing to make for the students progress, on occasion. When a student anticipates a future absence, Denae will notify all students by email of the available time. To schedule a make-up lesson, simply respond to the email with the time that fits your schedule. Due to scheduling restraints, make-up lesson availability is limited to lesson cancellations. Scheduling priority will be given to students who notify Denae of absences with 24 hours notice to enable rescheduling for other students. The teacher may need to miss a lesson for illness, family emergencies, or other unforeseen situations. The 2013-2014 studio calendar consists of 35 weeks (34 for Monday students). The teacher reserves the right to cancel, up to two lessons, without the obligation to schedule make-ups or issue lesson credit of any kind. Therefore, students are guaranteed 33 lessons during the school year, but may receive up to 2 bonus lessons. Any missed lesson at the fault of the teacher thereafter will gladly be rescheduled at no cost to the student or parent. Pre-piano classes may not be made-up or refunded for any reason. If a student must miss a class, and provides a 24 hour notice, it may be possible to attend another groups class that week. Because of the progressive nature of these classes, consistent weekly attendance is necessary for understanding and success. Discontinuation From time to time, some students choose to discontinue lessons. It is hoped that this decision is made thoughtfully after discussion with the teacher to have a sense of closure between parent, student, and teacher. By signing the 2013-2014 registration form, you are under contract to pay tuition through the entire school year. With this said, we understand that extenuating circumstances may arise. If a

student decides to discontinue lessons during the 2013-2014 school year, a written one-month notification must be given (email notification is acceptable) to the teacher. If the student or parent fails to provide this notification, the parent/adult student will be held responsible to pay through the following month. The teacher reserves the right to dismiss a student from lessons due to lack of practice, respect, or interest. Student Safety & Security Student safety is a priority. For the parents peace of mind and to protect ourselves from false accusations, we always ensure that there are at least three people present including: parents, teachers, and/or students. David and Denae are generally present when either is giving a lesson. In rare instances, David or Denae may not be able to be present. If this is the case, and there is not a second student present, a parent will be invited to observe the lesson, or the lesson will be rescheduled. Please be aware of this policy when dropping your student off for lessons. If a pair of siblings enrolls in lessons, we will invite them to be present while the other is taking his/her lesson. Communication There are multiple ways to stay connected to the studio. General information regarding lessons, master class, MTT, and other events can be found online at www.RexburgMusic.com. If you have questions regarding general studio information including calendar events and lesson schedules, please make an effort to find it online first. Afterward, feel free to contact Denae through email (lovefamilypiano@gmail.com), text, or phone call (503-910-7307). Another way to stay connected is accepting the invitation to our private Facebook page for students and families. News, photos, and events are posted here frequently.
