Small description of the match (extra-ordinary incidents etc.): In this match two teams met, who both could not win in the first two matches against Spain and France. So, they both needed a win to have a chance to reach the next round over the third place. This led to a fast and open match with many goal scoring opportunities. Ghana had far more and better chance and so their in the end clear win was deserved. Although the match was quite intense, both teams mostly behaved well and it offered not many challenges for the referee Shukralla. So the difficulty was challenging.

Referee
Crucial Decisions (refer to penalty kicks, sending-off situations etc.) Minute and Description of the Scene / Assessment of the referees decision At Ghanas first goal, the refereeing team made a wrong onside decision. The ball came to the scorer from a defenders leg, but it should nevertheless have been an offside call, because he was already offside, when his teammate touched the ball. It is not clear, whether it was the assistants fault, who maybe missed the offside 38 position at all or the referees fault, who maybe did not recognize the attackers touch of the ball or was not able to evaluate the situation correctly together with his assistant. Therefore I decided to consider this crucial mistake in the mark of both officials, but only with a small deduction. Yellow card for Lartey given for a situation in the box, when the match was stopped. His opponent fell down next to him and the reason seemed to be a 85 violent conduct, but we cannot be totally sure. Shukralla must have seen this situation, as he booked Lartey, but probably was also not sure enough to issue a red card.

Basic Observations (refer to the general application of the LotG, highlight the referees tactical approach, personality, match control, management of the teams and players, teamwork etc.). Please deploy short but precise and detailed sentences! Positive Points Good communication, used verbal warnings before cards and sometimes 1. explained his decisions to the players. Good control, in spite of an intense match one did not see him struggle. The 2. players always respected his decisions. 3. Good positioning, according to the instructions. Good decision to caution Ashia (84) after first letting play on due to the 4. advantage clause. Points for Improvement Consistency: One could not detect a clear line in his foul detection, because he 1. sometimes was quite strict and whistling for soft fouls, while he allowed heavier tacklings in other situations. The same counts for his card management, the first YC to Yedlin was too harsh, 2. later on, there were situations, where a card would have been adequate. 3. The strict part of his line was too strict for this match 4. 5. The crucial decisions (see above) Williamson could play 74 minutes with a bracelet until Shukralla recognized it and then correctly send him out to remove it.

Further observations (peculiarities of the referee revealing his character) He seemed to be rather stressed than relaxed, however managed to sell his decisions in a convincing manner. His performance was shaped by two question marks about the crucial decisions (see above). Apart from these, he showed a still decent performance, but has to work on his consistency and to find clear lines in his matches.
