1. Principal Responsibilities Prospect for, promote and sell products that are currently in Nikon Instruments portfolio within the designated territory or as directed by management. Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets in value and/or in specified units. Develop new business and interact with the other members of the Instruments division to foster growth for the benefit of Nikon and its customers, meeting Nikons philosophy of trustworthiness and creativity.

2. Main tasks Planning & Organisation Use Nikons customer relationship management (CRM) software to plan ahead and make efficient use of time and company resources in order to achieve the principal responsibilities, while minimising impact on the environment. Produce a territory business plan that forms the basis of customer-facing activity and focussed targeting of new accounts in order to expand and develop the business. Customer Contact Provide consultation and guidance regarding customers applications, ensuring correct products are provided to meet needs and exceed expectations in line with Nikon's corporate aspirations. Produce accurate quotations as requested, ensuring that the specification meets the customers needs. Where the quoted value exceeds 50k (for a single instrument), the quotation should be sent in a presentation folder via the office. All quotations should be saved to the CRM system for easy retrieval by Nikon personnel as and when required. Use the CRM system to maintain a professional, courteous and efficient relationship with customers such that all interactions are followed up within 24-48 hours. Manage the sales cycle and buying processes to conclusion and use the CRM system to assist this and maintain records. Provide product demonstrations when and where necessary to assist the customers decision-making process to purchase from Nikon. Adhere to in-house rules regarding demonstration protocols, personal demo stock and use of the group demo equipment.

Provide a detailed monthly report and prospect list to the current format on the first working day of each month or before. Keep all customer contact and address in the CRM system complete and up to date. Ensure email is read daily and correspondence is actioned on a timely basis. Keep expenses within the guidelines set out by company policy. Make all reasonable efforts to be available by phone and e-mail during office hours. Occasionally business activity may require phone and e-mail contact outside office hours. Respond to phone and e-mail requests from management within the same day, Mon.-Fri. Referring to your business plan and business development objectives, ensure detailed familiarity with key institutions and customer sites within designated territory, the key personnel there, as well as their structure and breakdown of the operating divisions and departments. Maintain good working relationships with all members of the UK Instruments company, across the different departments and in particular with the regional sales team, such that our shared goals and objectives are achieved.

Personal development Keep abreast of current issues and topics in science, scientific literature, scientific imaging, professional business skills and commercial matters to further professional development. This will be managed by your line manager through a personal development plan.

3. Profile Education Life Sciences degree or similar qualification, or minimum 1 A Level in a science. GCSEs to include English, maths and a science subject at grade C or above. Professional skills & Know-how Capital equipment selling experience Experience of using MS office, CRM systems &/or SAP software Personal skills Naturally outgoing, friendly and personable Able to work both on own initiative and also as part of a team High degree of personal organisation and competence
