Structural Steel Design Awards

The objective of the Structural Steel Design Awards is to celebrate the excellence of the United Kingdom in the field of steel construction, particularly demonstrating its potential in terms of efficiency, cost effectiveness, aesthetics, sustainability and innovation. Successful projects are expected to have a minimum threshold of excellence in architectural and engineering terms and to be cost effective.

SSDA 2013
The shortlist for the 45th Structural Steel Design Awards (SSDA) has been announced by the British Constructional Steelwork Association (BCSA) and Tata Steel.

SSDA 2012
In the month that the London Olympics get underway, it seems apt that the main Olympic Stadium along with the London 2012 Velodrome feature as two of the winners in the 2012 Structural Steel Design Awards. These two landmark structures are joined by four out-ofLondon projects, including three bridges and a world-class theatre.

SSDA 2011
A sculpture inspired by the artist's crouching body is one of four Award winning entries in this years Structural Steel Design Awards. The three other new structures that the judges felt were equally deserving of a coveted Award are the American Express Community Stadium in Brighton, Cannon Place above Cannon Street Station,London and the Marks & Spencer Distribution Facility at ProLogis Park in Bradford.

SSDA 2010
The Legacy Roof which spans the London 2012 Olympics Aquatics Centre is one of four Award winning entries in this years Structural Steel Design Awards. The three other new structures that the judges felt equally worthy to stand alongside the iconic Olympic structure are Audi West London, the Infinity Footbridge in Stockton-on-Tees, and Dublin Airport Terminal 2.

SSDA 2009
The 2009 Structural Steel Design Awards, Commendations and Merits, selected from a strong field of entries by the panel of judges, illustrate the high capability of steel to meet a wide range of industrial, commercial and transportation construction requirements under a variety of environmental circumstances.

SSDA 2008
The 2008 SSDA Awards recognise the high standards of structural and architectural design attainable in the use of steel and its potential in terms of efficiency, cost effectiveness, aesthetics and innovation - rewarding outstanding projects to stand as an example to others.

SSDA 2007
The winners of the 2007 Structural Steel Design Awards were presented with their Awards at a ceremony held at Old Billingsgate, London, yesterday (19 June). Judging was by an independent panel appointed by joint sponsors the British Constructional Steelwork Association and Corus.

SSDA 2006
Judges of the 2006 Structural Steel Design Awards were repeatedly impressed by the project vision, the structural concepts and the quality of execution of the entries.

SSDA 2005
The 37th annual structural steel design awards have been presented to an unusually wide range of structures, from a private house in London to the huge tonnages involved in a steel works extension.
