1. MakesurethatRhinoisclosedandbegintheinstallationprocess.ClickNext.

2. ClickIacceptthetermsofthelicenseagreement,thenclicknext.

3. Selectthecomponentsyouwanttoinstallandclearthecomponentsyoudon'twanttoinstall.Clicknextwhen ready. a. WIBUKeyRuntimeinstallsthedriversfortheWIBUKey(dongle)whichholdstheVRayLicenses b. TheC++dependenciesforourproductthisinstallsMicrosoftVisualC++2005RedistributablePackage c. VRayforRhinothiswillcopythefilesneededtorunVRayforRhino d. UtilitiesfordonglelicensingthisinstallstheVRaylicenseserverandutilities e. ThecommandlinerenderspawnertoolthiswillinstallthestandaloneversionofVRay f. ThedistributedrenderingspawnerthiswillinstallthefilesneedtorunVRayindistributedrenderingmode

 4. InthisstepyouneedtospecifytherootinstallationfolderforRhinoceros

5. Clicknexttobegintheinstallation

 6. Waitfortheinstallationtocomplete

7. Clickfinishtocompletetheinstallation

IfyouchosetoinstalltheWIBUKey(dongle)Driversyouwillgettheinitialscreenofthedriversinstaller NOTE:The32bitinstallationofVRayincludesonlythe32bitWIBUKEYdrivers.Ifyouareinstallingthe32bit versionofVRayona64bitoperatingsystem,youmustdownloadandinstallthedongledriversseparatelyfromthe WIBUKEYwebsiteathttp://wibu.com/download_user.php

9. Thenextscreenallowsyoutochooselanguagesupportforthedongledrivers;clickNexttogotothenextscreen:

10. Thenextscreenallowsyoutochoosesomecomponentsforthedrivers;leavethesettingsattheirdefaultandclick theNextbutton.

 11. Thenextscreenshowstheoptionswithwhichthedongledriverswillbeinstalled.Ifyouwishtomakeanychanges, clicktheBackbutton;ifyouwishtocancelthedongledriversinstallation,clicktheCancelbutton.Toproceed,click Next.

12. TheWIBUkeyinstallerproceedstocopythenecessaryfilestoyoursystem.Afterthefilesarecopied,clicktheNext buttontogotothefinalscreenofthedongledriversinstaller.

 13. Youshouldgetthefinalscreenofthedongledriversinstaller.ClickFinishtoexit.

14. Iftheinstallationissuccessful,youwillgetaconfirmationmessagebox;ClickOKtocloseit. 15. Nowthatthedongledriversareinstalled,plugtheVRaydongleintoafreeUSBportonyourmachine:

 Note:ifyouhavemorethanVRaydongle,youcanplugthemallintothesamemachine.Thenumberofavailable licenseswillbeaddedfromalldongles. 16. TheVRaylicenseserverwillautomaticallystartasaWindowsServiceuponrestartingthemachine.Youcanalso starttheservicemanuallyfromtheTaskManager.Findthe"VRLServer"service,rightclickandselectStartService.

17. TheVRaylicenseserviceallowsyoutocheckitsstatusfromanywhereinthenetworkusingaregularwebbrowser. Forexample,ifyouwanttocheckthecurrentstatusofthelicenseservicethatyoujuststarted,openyourweb browser,andintheaddressfieldtypehttp://localhost:30304andpressEnter.Youshouldgetapagelikebelow; choosetheGetstatusoftheserveroptiontoseemoreinformation.

 18. TheStatuspageshowsinformationaboutthetotalnumberoflicensesavailabletothelicenseserver;howmanyof themareengagedandbywhichmachineinthenetworketc.

19. WhenyouhaveseveralmachinesrunningVRayandonlyoneLicenseServeryouneedtopointallthemachinesto searchforthelicenseonthatmachine.TothatgotoStart>Allprograms>VRayforRhinocerosinstallationfolderand

runthe"Licensingselectlicenseserver".Inthe"Licenseserver"fieldspecifiedtheIPaddressofthemachine runningtheVRaylicenseserver.

Reprogramming a dongle
WhenyoupurchasetheVRayrenderer,yourdonglewillneedtobereprogrammedwiththecorrespondingnumber licenses.Reprogrammingthedongleisatwopartprocess: A.Inthefirstpart,youneedtosendusaspecialfile,createdthroughtheVRayLicenseServer,whichcontains informationidentifyingyourspecificdongle. B.ChaosSoftwarewillsendyouanotherfile,whichincludesthenewcontentsofyourdongle.Thisistransferredonto thedonglebytheWIBUKEYdrivers.Afterthedongleisreprogrammed,youcancheckifthenewlicenses/productshave beenaddedsuccessfully.Herearethesestepsinmoredetails.

Creating a dongle remote programming context file (.wbc)

Inordertoreprogramadongle,youfirstneedtocreateafilewhichidentifiesyourspecificdongle 1. Openawebbrowserandintheaddressbarenter"http://someserver:30304/upgrade"where"someserver"isthe nameorIPaddressofthemachinewheretheVRaylicensingserviceisrunning(orlocalhostifyouareonthat machine).Thiswillopenthefollowingwebpage:

4. Emailthisfiletovray@chaosgroup.com,alongwithanyotherrelevantinformation.

Updating the contents of the dongle with a remote programming file (.rtu)
Oncewereceivethe.wbcfile,wewillgenerateanotherfilewithextension.rtuthatcanbeusedbythedongledriversto updatethecontentsofthedongle. 1. Whenyoureceivethe.rtufile,saveitontheDesktopofthemachinewherethedongleisplugged. 2. ClosetheVRaylicensingservice,ifitisrunning.YoucandothiseitherbyrightclickingtheVRaylicenseservice iconintheTaskBarandselectingExit,orifitisrunningasaservicefromtheControlpanel>Administrativetools> Servicesapplet.

3. Doubleclickthesaved.rtufile.Thedonglesoftwarewillaskyouwhetheryoureallywanttotransferthefiletothe dongle.ClickYestoupdateyourdongle.

4. Ifthecontentsofthefileissuccessfullytransferred,youwillgetaconfirmationdialogsimilartotheonebelow;click OKtoclosethedialog.
