12.

Offline Module

12.1 Introduction
12.1.1 Offline Data Entry Application Version 2.0
Offline data synchronizer is an application developed to facilitate the district level users
having poor internet connectivity, to compile the data in offline mode and upload it on the
website.

12.1.2 Features of Offline Module:


• Offline Data Entry facility of new records with all validations.
• Generation of Single Encrypted file containing the offline data.
• Ease of carrying the generated file in a floppy .
• Ease of uploading the file from any location (Cyber Cafe, DIC, or State
Headquarter).
• Facility for regeneration of corrupted or lost file.
• Cross verification of data at the time of upload.
• Generation of log report : File Name, Date of Upload, Number of Rows
Uploaded etc.

12.1.3 Scope of Offline Application:


The offline application is available only for district level users. The offline module should
be used only on one machine per district. The data once uploaded on the website, cannot
be modified in offline application. Data Entry for Contractor is to be done online. The
latest contractor data is to be downloaded and used in the offline application.

12.2. Installation
12.2.1 Prerequisite for installation
Operating System :Windows 2000 / NT 4.0 / XP.
Windows Service Pack 4.0 or above.
To Install the Offline Module you must login by the Administrator of the machine.
How to Check Service pack 4.0 is installed or Not : Open Notepad and click on the
Help menu. Then click on “About Notepad”. The Dialog box will open which shows the
version of the Service Pack installed on the machine.
If Service pack 4.0 is not installed on the machine , it can be installed from the Offline
Module CD : Double click on the file named “W2KSP4_EN.EXE” to run the setup .

12.2.2 Installation of Application

Insert the Offline Module installation CD in the CD-ROM. There is a folder named
‘Offline_Data_Synchronizer_Version_2.0’ in the CD. Double Click on the folder and
double click on the Setup.exe to start the installation process as shown .

2. Wait for few minutes as the setup


checks the system configuration and
installs the data access components.

3.Once the data access components are installed, a welcome screen appears. Press the
next button.

4.Next screen is the option to locate the path


where the module is to be installed. By default
the application will be installed in the path
C:\Program Files\CDAC\DataSynchroniser
Version2.0\. Click on Next button if the default
path is to be retained. Otherwise click on
browse button to change the path of installation.

5.The next screen ask for the “Program


Folder “ where it is to be located and the
name by which it appears in the
Program Folder. Name can be changed
as desired and press Next button to

proceed .

6. As the installation process progress, it


shows the status bar showing the
progress of installation.

7. Once the installation of application is


complete it shows the message “ Set
up has finished installing Data
Synchronizer on your Computer”. This is
the last step in the installation process .
Click finish button to finish the process.

12.2.3 Installation of database

The CD consist of a file named ‘omms.mdb’


Copy the database file on to the desktop of
your computer and then run the installed
application. The offline module will ask to
locate the “omms.mdb” database file as
shown in the figure. Figure: 12.4 Installation of Database

Press yes button and locate the path of the database file (omms.mdb). The database file will be
copied in the same folder where offline module is installed. This completes the installation
process.

12.3. Data Entry Forms

12.4.0 Updating Contractor Master from Website.
The Contractor Master is to be entered online only. The Online entered data can be
downloaded in offline mode. The downloaded file is to be imported in offline module.
To import Contractor Master, select
Master menu and click on Contractor
master menu.
Select downloaded file, which is
stored at local machine. Click open
the file and the file will be imported. Figure: 12.5 Updating Contractor Master

12.5. Reports
The data entered in various data entry forms are available as reports. Select the Block
and Year and click on the report mentioned below to view the reports. The generated
reports can be printed. These report can be saved in a excel file.

Select the block to get the block wise Village list, Habitation list, Proposals, Tendering,
Physical and Financial Progress report, Contractor List, Road Master (DRRP) and Core
Network. The option of year selection is for only Proposals, and Physical and Financial
Progress.

12.6. Uploading of File.


The data entered in offline module can be uploaded to website in two steps.
• Generation of File For Uploading
• Uploading of Generated file

12.6.1 Generation of File for uploading


To generate a file, click on Application Menu and then on tools to get following options.

12.6.1.1 Upload Data

Upload Data will generate a file for data entered in Habitation Master (Form 1), Project
Proposals (Sanctioned Projects)/ Benefited Habitations (Form 4) ,Benefited Habitation,

CBR Value, Traffic Intensity, Tendering (Form 7).Physical Progress (Form 8),Financial
Progress (Form 8).

12.6.1.2 Upload Road Master

Upload Road Master will generate a file for data entered into Road Master (DRRP), CD
Works , Habitations Mapped to DRRP,CBR Value and Traffic Intensity.

12.6.1.3 Upload Core network

Upload Core network will generate a file for all the data entered in Rural Road Plan (Core
Network) , Habitation Mapping , Maintenance and PCI Index.

Clicking on anyone of the above option


will open a window which shows number
of records to be uploaded i.e where the
Upload status of the record is ‘N’ and will
be stored in this file. Point 2 on the screen
shows the path where the file will be
created.

Here you have two options.


1. Click on “Test File” to create the file for testing. The file created for testing cannot be
uploaded.
2. The other option is “SAVE” the file in an encrypted format for uploading.
Note : The file once generated must be uploaded on the website.

12.6.2 Uploading of generated file


1. Connect to the Internet. Go to the web site www.omms.nic.in
2. Login with your district login id and password.
3. Click on the Link ‘Upload Multiple Data Version 2 ’.

4. Browse the file from the Floppy or from


your Hard Disk.

5. Click the “Submit” button.. You can see the number of records to be uploaded in each
form.
6 .Press the “Submit “ button and the data will be uploaded.

12.7. Re- Generation of corrupt or lost file.

The File created in offline module must be uploaded. A file once created and then lost or
corrupted can be regenerated. To regenerate a file, click on the tools menu then click on Get
file menu, as shown in the figure.

Select the Module from the Drop Down. (i.e From Master Data, Road Master and Core
Network). Related files will be listed in the second drop down. Select the file no which you
would like to re-generate. Press
the generate button and the file
will be created at the path shown
in the figure.

12.8. Backup of local database


• The database file is important as all the data is stored in this file.
• Take the back up of the database file (omms.mdb) at regular intervals.
• The name of the database file is omms.mdb. Copy this file in any other part of the
hard disk or on a different computer so that you will always have the latest copy of
the database file.

12.9. Un Installation of Offline Module


• To un install an already installed copy of offline module, put the ‘Offline Module’ CD
in the CD ROM and run the setup by double clicking on the file Setup.exe. Click on
Remove option to uninstall the Offline module.
• Then go to the default path where Offline Module is installed and delete the folder
named ‘CDAC’.
Note : Take backup of file ‘omms.mdb’ before un installation otherwise the data already
entered in the offline module will be lost.
