ELECTRICAL TEST PROCEDURE

Insulation Testing
Equipment Needed. 1. Megger tester. Photo reference. Remarks. Calibrated equipment.

2. PPE& cut resistance gloves.

Correct PPE and gloves.

3. Barricade.

Barricade with signage, PTP, SIPP.

4. Walkie talkie

Check walkie talkie before perform work.

Preparation. 1. Barricade the area where the test will be performed.

Photo reference.

Remarks. Barricade with signage, PTP, SIPP.

Elec. Test Procedure 2. Ensure the person to test is wearing proper PPE. Correct PPE and gloves.

3. Ensure that the system is isolated with only the grounding intact. Never connect a megger tester to energized DB or equipment. This can potentially damage the meter.

Cables hang out side DB except for grounding cable connected.

Steps. 1. Make sure the ground wire of every individual circuit has been tied to DB before doing insulation testing. This will ensure the newly installed system is properly grounded.

Photo reference.

Time. 10 mins per cable.

2. Set the megger tester to 200 mega ohm range and 500V testing voltage. (Use the voltage selector switch on the megger to set the megger to the appropriate test voltage, usually the next highest voltage above the voltage rating of the piece of equipment being tested.)

5 mins per receptacle..

Elec. Test Procedure 3. Press (and lock) the test button and test between the terminals Phase-Phase (3 phases), Phase- Neutral, Phase to Ground and Neutral to ground. Test for 1 minute. If there is a reading, it should be higher than 0.5 mega ohm. Lower than 0.5 mega ohm and it failed the insulation test. 2 mins.

4. Record all values.

10 mins.

5. Be sure to release the test button and turn off the device after testing. Megger tester emits 500-1000VDC.

1 min.

Pull test Procedure

Equipment Needed.

Photo reference.

Remarks.

Elec. Test Procedure 1. Torque screw driver. Calibrated equipment.

2. PPE (HT Gloves).

Correct PPE.

3. Barricade.

Barricade with signage, PTP, SIPP.

4. LOTO locks and tags.

Refer to LOTO SWI.

5. Radio.

Check walkie talkie before perform work.

Preparation.

Photo reference.

Remarks.

Elec. Test Procedure 1. LOTO individual breaker before performing any pulltest. One key, One pad lock, One tag.

2. Ensure the person to test is wearing proper PPE.

Leather gloves .

3. Buddy next to him with the safety hook, rubber mats on place.

Safety hook and buudy.

Steps.

Photo reference.

Time.

1. Identify each of the newly installed circuit by refering to IFC.

1 min per cable.

Elec. Test Procedure 2. Pull by applying enough force to measure the termination of the circuit. 1 min per cable.

3. Visually inspect the position of the cable lug if it is tightened on the conductive part.

1 min per cable.

4. Check the torque applied by using a torqe screw driver.

1 min per cable.

5. Check the circuit labels on the cables as per IFC with the corresponding circuit breaker value.

15 mins per tool.

6. Check the final status of inside DB, grommet applications and 5S.

2 mins.

Elec. Test Procedure 7. Take off any LOTO, remove tape and close the dead front covers. 15 mins per tool.

Voltage Test Procedure.

Equipment Needed.

Photo reference.

Remarks.

1. Voltage tester.

Calibrated equipment.

2. PPE (HT Gloves).

Correct PPE.

3. Barricade.

Barricade with signage, PTP, SIPP.

4. Radio.

Check walkie talkie before perform work.

Elec. Test Procedure Preparation. 1. Ensure proper communication with mezzanine team and ATM team. Photo reference. Remarks. Correct and clear communication.

Steps.

Photo reference.

Time.

1. Set the voltage range to be tested. Normally for VN site, 600V setting is the value.

1 min.

2. Test between the terminals Phase -Phase (3 phase), PhaseNeutral, Phase to Ground and Neutral to ground. Determine the polarity of the terminals by voltage reading, refer on picture. A reading L-G determine if the system has proper ground(equal to L-N), NG should be 0V.

10 mins.

Elec. Test Procedure 3. Refer to IFC drawing on corresponding voltage requirement for each circuit. Normally machines can handle +10% tolerance. (Eg. 220 Rating: Min-198, Max 242). 2 mins. IFC

4. Record all values.

10 mins.

Rotation Test Procedure.

Equipment needed.

Photo reference.

Remarks.

1. Phase/ Rotation Tester.

Calibrated equipment.

2. PPE (HT Gloves).

Correct PPE.

Elec. Test Procedure 3. Barricade. Barricade with signage, PTP, SIPP.

4. Radio.

Check walkie talkie

Preparation. 1. Rotation testing can be applied only on three phase. This determine the correct polarity and rotation of the 3 phase systems.

Photo reference.

Remarks. Insert correct phase (red/yellow/blue).

2. Incorrect phase can cause MCCB to trip.

Incorrect phase due to installation.

Steps.

Photo reference.

Time.

1. While the power still on, insert each of the testing terminals of the phase tester to corresponding location on the receptacle. Refer on photo.

2 mins.

Elec. Test Procedure 2. Press the test button, the red dot should rotate clockwise. Counter clockwise rotation means wires are swapped and needs correction. 2 mins.

3. Record all values in QAQC checklist.

5 mins.
