Power of Ideas: Spirits high in Hyderabad

Hyderabad - July 12th, it was an awesome sight this evening at Hyderabad to see several people under the same roof with one goal in mind - to become an entrepreneur. I am happy for the platform provided and several of us could use more of these events. While organized approaches such as these are hugely welcomed, we ought to have an informal setting where we could meet and help foster ideas, share them, welcome critical thoughts and in general hone and prepare for the better. The excitement was palpable Hyderabadis are known for their entrepreneurial spirit. Much in keeping with that attitude, a huge number of aspiring entrepreneurs turned up at the venue, hours before the city wise Start-up Sessions of ETThe Power of Ideas got underway. A refreshing breeze of entrepreneurship funneled into the Satya Sai auditorium. The audience, most of them in the 20-35 age groups that included a huge contingent of young women, trooped into the auditorium, patiently waiting for the illustrious panel to get going. They knew, they had come in to get there. Their only purpose was: To empower their idea. The start-up session saw experts like Dr. K Anji Reddy, Founder of Reddys Lab, Sateesh Andra, Venture Partner with DFJ (Draper Fisher Jurvetson) India, Dr.Ramesh Babu, TiE and Prayan Gupta - Executive of Department of Science and Technology. And for a reality check, an entrepreneur who just made it big - Rohan Shravan, CEO & founder of Notion Ink Design Labs. To begin with, the panel agreed that this was indeed the right time, in India, to kick-start a venture. Many new sectors have opened doors in India and idea generators are increasing on a daily basis, said Dr.Anji Reddy. When it came to the ex-incubate of IIT, Rohan Shravan, the applause was grand. The technocrat-turned-entrepreneur at 23 owns a unique tablet development firm, NotionInk Design Labs, ADAM that is termed as iPad Killer from India. Ideas come from struggle, sacrifice or any event, we just have to sense it at the right time, he said, urging aspiring entrepreneurs to add value to their ideas continually to keep ahead of the crowd. The interesting part is 5 way out for a start-up: Have conviction. Trust that it will happen. Continue even if there is no help. Develop a proof of concept. Have patience. The audience took valuable guidance from the panelists on how to write a feasible business plan and how to market it in an efficient manner. The attendees raised many queries about different technologies and tried to overcome the difficulties of filing patents and raising investments.

The entire objective of the Garage was to showcase the facebook open graph api from a development perspective so that people can build custom applications and tools and leverage the humongous reach of facebook to reap benefits through the internet. The event was kickstarted by Siddharth of iridium who introduced the event and described his experiences with using the social internet we access everyday and how the whole concept of facebook makes the world a much more connected place. Jonathan spoke about the open source platforms used and contributed to by facebook. Facebook was developed based on open source softwares and offers developers the chance to use the platform with their knowledge of these same open source technologies It was then followed by the application presentation segments.
