Introduction To OptimizePress
Getting Started With OptimizePress
OptimizePress is a unique Wordpress Theme and framework which focuses on creating amazing looking and high converting pages for your Internet Marketing business. All of the main functionality of OptimizePress is built into the "Pages" section of the theme. As this is not a typical "blog" theme, we will not be using the Posts feature. We still have some interactive elements built into the theme, but it is not designed to create blog posts or content like that. There are 2 main areas within OptimizePress which control the functionality of your site and pages: OptimizePress Main Admin / Theme Settings - this is where you can change many of the features that will affect the design and settings of the site sitewide. You can add a header graphic or logo here, set your copyright information and setup your footer links. You will also find some of the launch page/navigation funtionality within the main settings panel - this will explained in a later tutorial. Page Content & Custom Settings Options - As already mentioned, the majority of the functionality within OptimizePress comes from the custom page options. When you create a new page, you will see below the main content box you have various customization options. This special customization interface is where you can modify many of the settings for the page you are creating, with 1000's of combinations there is an almost unlimited number of designs you can create with OptimizePress. Use this user guide as a reference anytime you want to create a new page or utilize some of the advanced functionality of OptimizePress

How To Create A Squeeze Page

OptimizePress makes it super easy to create squeeze pages in many different styles and layouts, all with the point and click interface. Follow this guide to create a squeeze page fast. If you need more information on the squeeze page customization options, see the specific section within this guide

Create A New Page

The first step in creating a squeeze page is to create a new page

Select a Template Layout

You need to select a template for your squeeze page. There are 10 designs to choose from. Refer to the template reference library to see the different designs.
OptimizePress User Manual - 17

Open The Squeeze Page Customization Options

The squeeze page customization options panel may be closed, so open it to access all the options for customizing your page

OptimizePress User Manual - 18

Complete The Fields For The Features You Want To Add

There are many options for your squeeze pages to customize the look and feel. Tick the box next to the relevant option and enter your desired text or make a selection from the dropdown. Note that if you decide to remove an option later, you may need to delete the text from within the box before you deactivate the option, or the content may still show on the page
OptimizePress User Manual - 19

*note: Some options are not available on all templates, please refer to the template reference library for more information

Add A Headline

For this example I'm going to add a headline. Click the show headline options and enter your headline text You can use HTML within the text box, so if you want to make the text start a new line, use the <BR> code. You can also use the color selectors to select the color for the headline. If you would like to add some of the text in an alternative color (perhaps to highlight a particular point), enter the text between two EM tags: <em> Your text here</em> Then select an alternative color from the color picker and it will appear like that on your final headline. You can also use the font dropdown to change the font style

OptimizePress User Manual - 20

Activate Video

Video is a great way to boost response on your squeeze pages. Use the video fields to enter in your own video URL, or embed a video from YouTube, or another video provider. You can set the height and width of your video manually, or leave these fields blank for the squeeze page to use the default sizes. iPad/iPhone Videos: If you would like your video to show on iPad and iPhones, ensure you are using a video encoded in the .MOV or .M4V format, otherwise your video may not show.

OptimizePress User Manual - 21

Add Some Sidebar Text

Sidebar text is the text that tells your prospect what to do next, in this case you want them to optin, so tell them what they will get

Add A Sidebar Headline

This is another great way to attract attention to your optin boxes and boost response rates. Enter a short title or prompt to help people know what to do next.

Add A Spam Notice

Using a spam notice on your page will almost always boost conversions. You can enter your own text here and it will appear under your optin button

OptimizePress User Manual - 22

Add Your Autoresponder Code (required)

If you want people to optin to your autoresponder list, you need to add your code from your autoresponder provider. OptimizePress integrates easily with all major autoresponder providers. Simply grab the output form code from your provider and paste it into the main field - and OptimizePress does the read - easy!

Select A Squeeze Page Button

Use the dropdown menu to select a button for your squeeez page. There are a wide range of button styles and text combinations

OptimizePress User Manual - 23

Publish Your Squeeze Page

You are now ready to publish your squeeze page. Click the Publish button to save and publish your squeeze page

Further Customization

Once you have published your Squeeze page, you can always go back into the menu and edit any of the text, add a subheadline or change the template completely to get a whole new design.

For more information on customizing your templates, see the Squeeze Page Customization section To see the range of squeeze page framework designs available, see the reference library

How To Create A Sales Letter

Introduction

In this tutorial i'm going to show you the steps to create a basic sales letter like the one above. This sales letter incorporates a sales video as well as sales copy, which is a popular and high converting combination here are the steps:

OptimizePress User Manual - 26

Create A New Page

Click Add New to create a new page within your Wordpress admin

Select A Template

Refer to templates and layouts for more information here. The layout in my example uses Sales Style 1 (Sales Letter Standard)

OptimizePress User Manual - 27

Give The Page A Title

Enter in a page title for your page - this will not actually appear on the page but will allow you to find the page within wordpress

Open The Launch Page & Sales Letter Options Panel

If the panel is not extended, click the top right corner to show all the Sales letter customization options (note some of these options refer to settings for the Launch pages, but we put them in one panel as they share the same main framework) - so just use the options you want for your sales letter

OptimizePress User Manual - 28

Setup The Initial Page Settings With The First Options Set

There are 4 important options from this section we need to choose: 1) We need to show the header on the page (this will show the header you uploaded to the main Optimizepress options page. if you are using a logo as well then this option will be come available once you tick "Show Header". You can also upload one of the blank headers from the Graphics pack and show it here. 2) If you want to show the footer links on your sales letter, tick this box 3) If you would like to set a background color for your page (we used the default color) you can use this color picker here or enter the color hex code. 4) Choose the font style for your main sales copy (the main copy text). I used arial for our example site.

OptimizePress User Manual - 29

Setup The Header & Headlines

1) If you are not using your own header design, you can upload a blank header from the graphics pack and then use the "activate header text" to add your own text to the header (I did not use this on our example site) 2) If you would like to show a headline above the video, tick this option and enter your headline. 3) In my example I used a headline below the video, so I activated this option and entered my headline. TIP: You can see inside my headline copy i have added some line break tags <br>. These push the copy onto a new line, so you can adjust the way your headline displays 4) I chose the impact font for my headline, and left the color as the default red. The color can be changed by using the font color option box.

OptimizePress User Manual - 30

Content Block Options

If you would like to add some copy above your video, or some copy to the sidebar on the page (if you are using a template with a sidebar), you can use the Content block and Sidebar Block options to add copy here. In my example site i did not use these options Note that at the moment the shortcode system does not work in these boxes. You can however use the other styling features like the bold and h1,h2 tags etc.

OptimizePress User Manual - 31

Setup Your Video

Now it's time to setup your video. You have a range of options here: 1) First you need to tick "Activate video" to show the video options 2) You need to enter the URL of your video if you're using your own hosting or a service like Amazon S3. If you have a video encoded in a format supported on iPads and iPhones, you can also enter the URL of your video here. You can also choose to use a different video for those platforms if you want to use a more highly compressed video, enter the URL here. Formats which usually work on iPad and iPhone are MP4, M4V and MOV files, but they must be encoded in the right way (tutorial on this coming soon) 3) If you want to use a video hosted on an external site like Youtube, Vimeo or Viddler, enter the embed code here starting with <embed> usually. Ensure you remove any url from the hosted video url fields

OptimizePress User Manual - 32

4) If you would like to set the height and width of your video, use these boxes. If you dont enter anything, the video will default to the recommended size (this is the option I used on my sample site). 5) If you'd like to have a subtle border around your video, use this option 6) If you would like your video to autoplay when the visitor reaches your page, use this option 7) You can choose to show or hide the video controlbar for your video here. Sometimes hiding the controls on a sales video can increase response 8) If you would also like to include a download link for your video for people who are having problems watching the streaming video you can do this here. tick the box and enter the URL to your video below.

Social Media Options

If you want to include any kind of social media sharing icons under your video, you can do this here. Generally this would not be used on sales letters or sales video pages. (i did not use this option on my page)

OptimizePress User Manual - 33

Comments Options

If you would like to enable comments on your page, you can use the comments options. Again, these features wouldn't normally be used on sales letters (they will be explained more in the launch page tutorial)

OptimizePress User Manual - 34

Optin Options

If you would like to show an optin box on your sales letter (usually shown below your main content) you can use this option. again this option would normally not be used on a sales letter. There are 5 simple steps for using the optin form: 1) Activate the optin options 2) Enter your optin box title (optional)
OptimizePress User Manual - 35

3) Enter your optin box text (optional) This shows under the optin box title but above the input boxes 4) Paste your autoresponder code into this field. The other fields are automatically filled for you 5) Choose your optin button style and text.

Add A Call To Action Button

If you'd like to show a call to action button on your page you can use this section: 1) Activate the call to action 2) Choose your button text and style 3) Choose any styling and what icons (payment icons) appear under it 4) You can choose to delay the appearance of your call to action buttons if you want. This can be very effective in increasing response to a sales video. Enter the delay you want in seconds 5) The Call to action URL is your order link or wherever you want to send someone when they click your button 6) Choose the placement of your CTA button. You can place it under your video, at the bottom of your page, or both (both buttons will be delayed if you choose the button delay).
OptimizePress User Manual - 36

Other Options

The thumbnail upload and links options are for launch pages and will not usually be used on sales letters unless you want to link to other pages which you can do by ticking the relevant pages (you will also need to activate the top navbar for this)

OptimizePress User Manual - 37

Page SEO And Settings

There are various additional options you can customize on each of your pages or sales letters. Use these options to add various tags which help with SEO and rankings.

OptimizePress User Manual - 38

Add Your Sales Copy & Styling

Now it's time to actually add your sales copy. OptimizePress makes it super easy to add copy and customize it until you're happy with the results. You will be using the main content box for your sales copy. 1) I recommend using the visual editor for adding your copy. This makes it easy to see the text you are modifying without getting distracted by HTML. 2) One of the unique features of OptmizePress is the shortcodes button (the button with the lightning bolt logo on it. Click this button and you will see a drop down menu appear with lots of options. These are all shortcodes for graphics which you can add to your sales letter. See the step below for more information 3) You can also use the content box features to modify the text in the box, including changing the styling of the font and using tags like headlines etc. Note: If you want to insert a line break into your code, use the shortcode linebreak. Wordpress 3.0 will not always insert a line break if you simply add one to the sales copy yourself, you need to use the shortcode for it.

OptimizePress User Manual - 39

Shortcodes Window

Use the shortcodes menu to insert many different styling features into your sales letter including testimonial boxes, order boxes, buttons and much more. Use the dropdown to select the item you want, then click insert to add it to your page where your cursor is. Note: i recommend always moving onto a new line in the visual editor before adding any shortcode as this can prevent any glitches or problems Please refer to the Shortcode reference Library for more information and to see the shortcodes currently avaialable

OptimizePress User Manual - 40

Finish Your Sales Letter

Once you have finished editing your sales letter, click publish or save to save your letter and view the results by clicking the "preview changes" or view page buttons

OptimizePress User Manual - 41

How To Create A Launch Page

In this tutorial im going to walk you through the process of creating a launch page like the one below.

Creating A Launch Page Intro

Creating a launch page is very similar to creating a sales letter page in OptimizePress. They both use many of the same functions and they use the same overall templates, just with different internal layouts.
OptimizePress User Manual - 42

Create A New Page

Click Add New to create a new page within your Wordpress admin

Select A Template

Refer to templates and layouts for more information here. The layout in my example uses Sales Style 1 (Video Sidebar Bottom). The different internal layouts basically change the placement of the thumbnails for your videos that are part of the launch process

OptimizePress User Manual - 43

Give The Page A Title

Enter in a page title for your page - this will not actually appear on the page but will allow you to find the page within wordpress

Open The Launch Page & Sales Letter Options Panel

If the panel is not extended, click the top right corner to show all the launch page customization options (note some of these options refer to settings for the sales letter pages, but we put them in one panel as they share the same main framework) - so just use the options you want for your launch page

OptimizePress User Manual - 44

Setup The Initial Page Settings With The First Options Set

In this section we will setup the initial settings for the page, these are mainly to do with the design and styling of the page. 1 & 2) we need to activate the header. If we have uploaded a blank image header we can also activate the logo option to show the logo. If you are using any of the Style 3 templates you will need to use a logo as the header does not show on these (but must be left activated) 3) If you want to show the navigation bar under the header (as in my example) you will need to activate this setting. See step 8 for customizing the look of your navigation items 4) If you want the thumbnail images to show you need to activate this option

OptimizePress User Manual - 45

5) The footer navbar can be activated with this option - this shows the links which you setup in the main admin panel 6) If you want to change the background color or the color of the links in your footer, you can do that here. If you set a darker background you may want to make the links in the footer a lighter color 7) If you would like to set a tiled background image, you can set the URL here. I recommend you upload the image you want to use to your server through the media upload system within your wordpress site. 8) The header navigation style option allows you to choose from 3 styles for your header links. If you have less links you can use the more spaced our option 1, or if you have more links you can use a smaller style to ensure they all fit on the page 9) The main body text font select allows you to change the styling of the main body copy 10) You can change the hyperlink color of any hyperlinks included on your page here 11) If you are using the cufon font headline shortcode, you can modify the font which is used here.

Additional Content Block And Headline Options

1) Activate Header Text - If you would like to use a blank header (there are lots included inside the graphics pack), first upload a header to the main options panel and then activate the header text to add your own header text and style accordingly
OptimizePress User Manual - 46

2) Show Headline Above Video Options - You can show a headline above your video with this option and style it to your liking 3) Show Headline Below Video Options - You can show a headline below your video with this option (before your main sales copy) and style it to your liking 4) Show Alert Bar Options - If you would like to use an alert bar on your site to alert people they have subscribed or pass on another message, you can do this here 5) Activate Content Block Options - If you would like to add some copy above the video, you can activate this content box. Note: the shortcode system does not currently function in this box 6) Activate Sidebar Block Options - If you would like to add some copy to your sidebar (if your layout includes one), you can activate this content box. Note: the shortcode system does not currently function in this box

Setup Your Video Options

This is an awesome way to really help your sites go viral fast.

OptimizePress User Manual - 50

Optin & Call To Action Options

You probably wont need this for most of your launch pages, but if you want to collect optins, you can activate the optin box and complete the details. You can also use a call to action button if you want to use one of your launch pages as a sales video, or have people click a button to go to a download.

Upload A Video Thumbnail Or Use Coming Soon Image

When you setup your launch, you will want people to see a thumbnail image which represents your video. If you want to use an image from your video, or a different image, upload it here. If you'd rather use a coming soon image, tick the box and choose from the options in the dropdown (5 choices)

OptimizePress User Manual - 51

Setup The Launch Page Links (IMPORTANT)

The final option on this page is one of the most important. This decides which pages your visitors will see linked to when they visit this page. So First you must setup the launch pages inside the main launch funnel/navigation window. If you don't know how to do this, see this tutorial Once you have setup the pages which will be used for the launch, you can tick which ones are avaialble on this particular page. For my example I activated page one (the current page) and left the others unavailable as this is the first page of the launch. If i was doing page 2, I would activate pages 1 and 2, and so on. At this time we do not have the facility for your system to remember which pages your visitor has seen, so if they navigate backwards in the launch process they will not see the more recent links, but if you are doing a one-off launch, once you activate page 2, you should also go back and activate page 1 so that everyone can see it. We are developing a perpetual launch system at the moment which will enable the system to remember and allow you to create rolling launches which appear to be "live" to your customers. We estimate this feature to be ready in around 2-3 weeks

Launh Page Complete

Your launch page is now complete, all you have to do now is add any copy you want on the page in the main content box, and put your page live

OptimizePress User Manual - 52

One little tip when creating your launches. If you want to use the same options on multiple launch pages, navigate back to the pages menu when you have created your first page and use the duplicate option to duplicate the page, then just change your video and any other details individually.

If you do not tick this box, only active links will be shown on your navbar and sidebar links.

The general settings window helps you control overall settings for the theme.

OptimizePress User Manual - 57

Using The OptimizePress General Settings

The General Settings page within the OptimizePress admin panel gives you a range of options which control some of the overall features of your theme. I have detailed what each feature does below: Favicon URL: If you'd like to specifiy a favicon for your site (the little icon next to the URL in your

You can use the media uploader in wordpress to upload your icon and then grab the url and enter it here Logo Upload - You can use a logo on most of the sales letter and launch page templates. If you would like to use a plain header image color, look in the graphics pack provided with the theme for various color schemes Header Full Width Background - If you are using the Style 2 range of templates you will need to specify an image which will be tiled across the top of your page to make your header appear full width. Use the media uploader in Wordpress to upload your image and then specify the location here. If you're using a header background from the graphics pack, ensure you also upload the background image which goes with the header for use on the full width header layouts. Copyright Footer Text - This is where you can enter any company name or text you want present in the footer of your site Display Powered By Text - Tick this box if you would like to Display "Powered by OptimizePress" in your footer.
