A social problem is a condition that at least some people in a community view as being undesirable. Everyone would agree about some social problems, such as murders and DWI traffic deaths. 1 Other social problems may be viewed as such by certain groups of people. Teenagers who play loud music in a public park obviously do not view it as a problem, but some other people may consider it an undesirable social condition. Some nonsmokers view smoking as an undesirable social condition that should be banned or restricted in public buildings.2 Nowadays, there are many social problems that teenagers are going through. For instance, drug addiction among teens has increase rapidly and it has become another cancerous phenomenon that does not seems to have an end. 3Most drug user begins in the preteen and teenage years, these years are the most crucial life period as they are undergoing the maturation process. During these years adolescents are faced with difficult tasks of discovering their self-identity, clarifying their sexual roles, assenting independence, learning to cope with authority and searching for goals that would give their lives meaning. Drugs are readily, adolescents are curious and venerable, and there is peer pressure to experiment, and there us a temptation to escape from conflicts. The use of drugs by teenagers is the result of a combination of factors such as peer pressure, curiosity, and availability. Drugs addiction among adolescents in turn leads to depression and suicide Problems that teenagers are faced with today can take so many forms. Even in stable, solid family units, teenagers will face confusion and uncertainty with themselves and life. But in todays world of divorce, broken homes, unsafe sex and alcohol abuse, teenagers face issues that show themselves in different ways to different individuals. Teenagers in the present are highly overpopulated. This is a serious problem, as scientists have reported, because they consume valuable resources at a dangerously fast rate. Biologists have made efforts to keep the population in check, by capturing them, and sending them to culling facilities called "High Schools". Parts of Asia and Europe are worried that the

teenagers may become contaminated with Avian Flu. Due to lower resources in the educational system in Eastern countries, farmers have resorted to putting the teenagers in sacks and burning them. Every newspaper is filled with stories about undesirable social conditions. Examples include crime, violence, drug abuse, and environmental problems. Such social problems can be found at the local, state, national and international levels.

1.1 Family problem and divorce When your parents fight It is normal for parents to fight with each other. These fights may be about money, the future, or chores around the house. When parents have a disagreement, that does not include yelling at each other or raising their voices they are having an argument. When the arguments get louder - they could be called fights. These fights can be loud and things can be said that aren't the nicest - and this can be scary for a kid or teen who is listening. Sometimes, as a member of the family, a teen or child may feel that they had some part in creating the fight between the parents. It is important for children to know that these fights and arguments are part of any healthy relationship. What does their fight mean? A teen or child may think that because their parents yell and scream at each other and have a fight that they do not love each other anymore or that they are going to get a divorce. Often this is not the case. Although parents may yell and say things that are mean to each other - they often regret this later on and apologize after they have worked it all out. How does it affect me? It is normal for a teen or child to feel upset when they hear their parents fighting. They may feel upset, sad, angry at one or both of the parents or fearful of what the fight may mean. This may end up interfering with the school work and social activities of the child.

1.3.1 Drugs Drugs are chemicals or substances that change the way our bodies work. When you put them into your body (often by swallowing, inhaling, or injecting them), drugs find their way into your bloodstream and are transported to parts of your body, such as your brain.6 In the brain, drugs may dull your senses, alter your sense of alertness, and sometimes decrease physical pain. A drug may be helpful or harmful. The effects of drugs can vary depending upon the kind of drug taken, how much is taken, how often it is used, how quickly it gets to the brain, and what other drugs, food, or substances are taken at the same time. Many substances can harm your body and your brain. Drinking alcohol, smoking tobacco, taking illegal drugs, and sniffing glue can all cause serious damage to the human body. Some drugs severely impair a person's ability to make healthy choices and decisions. Teens whose drink, for example are more likely to get involved in dangerous situations, such as driving under the influence or having unprotected sex. And just as there are many kinds of drugs available, there are as many reasons for trying drugs or starting to use drugs regularly. Some teens take drugs just for the pleasure they believe they can bring. Many times, someone tried to convince them that drugs would make them feel good or that they'd have a better time if they took them. Some teens believe drugs will help them think better, be more popular, stay more active, or become a better athlete. Others are simply curious and figure one try won't hurt. Others want to fit in. Many teens use drugs to gain attention from their parents or because they are depressed or think drugs will help them escape their problems. The truth is, drugs don't solve problems. Drugs simply hide feelings and problems. When a drug wears off, the feelings and problems remain - or become worse. Drugs can ruin every aspect of a person's life.

1.3.2 Alcohol So if alcohol is a natural product, why do we need to be concerned about drinking it? When people drink, alcohol is absorbed into their bloodstream. From there, it affects the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord), which controls virtually all body functions. Alcohol is a depressant, which means it slows the function of the central nervous system. That is why drinking small amount of alcohol reduces anxiety. Alcohol actually blocks some of the messages trying to get to the brain7. This alters your perceptions, your emotions, and even your movements, vision, and hearing. More alcohol causes greater changes in the brain, resulting in intoxication. People who have overused alcohol may stagger, lose their coordination, and slur their speech. They will probably be confused and disoriented. Intoxication can make people very friendly and talkative or very aggressive and angry. Reaction times are slowed dramatically. People who are intoxicated may think they're moving properly, when they're not. They may act totally out of character. As a teenager - your body is changing drastically - your body is changing from that of a child's into that of an adult. For many teens it is hard to adjust to these changes. Some teens may feel they are too big and don't like the weight that they are gaining. Some teens may feel they are underdeveloped - and may wish that they could be as tall or as muscular as their peers. Some may feel that they are developing too fast and this is bringing them unwanted attention and perhaps more responsibility than they are ready for and some teens may feel that they are not developing fast enough and being left behind their peers. Whatever the problems are that you may be facing - it is important to have a positive body image and to understand what your body is going through. The following is a discussion of teen body image, some of the problems that may arise out of negative body image such as eating disorders and how to have a healthy body image.

1.4 Internal problems within teenagers Eating disorder Anorexia nervosa is a dangerous condition in which people can literally starve themselves to death. People with this disorder eat very little even though they are already thin. They often engage in behaviors such as self-induced vomiting or the misuse of laxatives, diuretics, or enemas. People with anorexia believe that they are overweight even when they are extremely thin. Often, the beginning of illness will occur after a stressful life event such as initiation of puberty or moving out of the parents' home. Those with anorexia are often characterized as perfectionists and overachievers who appear to be in control. In reality, they suffer from low self-esteem and confidence and overly criticize themselves. They are also very concerned about pleasing others. Bulimia Nervosa follow a routine of secretive, uncontrolled or binge eating (ingesting an abnormally large amount of food within a set period of time) followed by behaviours to rid the body of food consumed. Individuals with bulimia are often characterized as having a hard time dealing with and controlling impulses, stress, and anxieties. Bulimia nervosa can and often does occur independently of anorexia nervosa, although half of all anorexics develop bulimia.

1.5 Smoking Smoking is a hard habit to break because tobacco contains nicotine, which is highly addictive. Like heroin or other addictive drugs, the body and mind quickly become so used to the nicotine in cigarettes that a person needs to have it just to feel normal.People start smoking for a variety of different reasons. Some think it looks cool. Others start because their family members or friends smoke. Statistics show that about 9 out of 10 tobacco users start before they're 18 years old. Most adults who started smoking in their teens never expected to become addicted. That's why people say it's just so much easier to not start smoking at all. Smoking leads people to develop health problems like heart disease, stroke, emphysema (breakdown of lung tissue), and many types of cancer including lung, throat, stomach, and bladder cancer8. People who smoke also have an increased risk of infections like bronchitis and pneumonia. Smoking can also cause fertility problems and can impact sexual health in both men and women. Girls who are on the pill or other hormone-based methods of birth control (like the patch or the ring) increase their risk of serious health problems, such as heart attacks, if they smoke.

How to Solve
1. Government or educational Institution initiatives The Government should emphasize on teenagers problem in Malaysia. There are method that Government should take such as activities that could attract teenagers during their free time. For instances,Rakan Muda programmes,National Service and sport activities.By all these the teenagers will spent time wisely and usefully. 2. Strong religious teaching As children find their place in the world of their peers, theyre faced with extreme expectations. Its like a tug-of-war. On one end of the rope are TV, movies, music, magazines, the Internet and peers, all pulling as hard as they can. On the other side of the rope is the religion. Powerful, yes, but it sometimes stands alone in its efforts to remind our kids what religion wants them to do. Some of the efforts that could be done: Weekly talks by Religious Department Reading of Yassin for Muslims every Friday night Special Religious Classes for female settlers Family Values Assimilation Programs Religious/Spiritual Education Pre-marriage Courses

3. Good family institution Everything starts from home as parents are essential elements in their children lives.Parents should be a good role model towards their children. There are some methods that might works to cope up with teenagers problem. There are: Parents and teachers should discuss childrens problems Parents provide be firm with children and not always give in to childrens Must have time for their children Teachers must have close relationship with their students Implementation of merit de merit system

Monitoring of prayers by teachers Motivation and self development programs Involvement of students in self development programs Inculcate affinity and closeness to religion through prayers by teachers and students Solat Hajat during examination times for Muslims Teachers visiting students at home Encourage children to involve themselves in fruitful activities. Close monitoring by Parent-Teachers Associations members outside of school Disciplinary action Childrens Education: Roles of Parents and Teachers To send problematic students to Character Rehabilitation Centres

4. Personal mentality All these will be wasted if teenagers himself do not have the initiatives to change to a betterment. 5. Enforcement of law. The government should increase the age limit for driving license taking. By these, the illegal racing activities can be reduced. Furthermore the government should rise up the price of cigarettes and alcohols, so that the teenagers cannot afford to buy and consume it. Thus, it will lead them to a healthy lifestyle.

For the conclusion, one of the most important goals is to prevent teenagers from violating any further so they can become responsible and successful adults. The second most important goal is to protect society from the criminal acts of children. Parents need to teach children self-control by monitoring the childs behaviour, recognizing the different behaviours when they occur, and punishing those which are unacceptable. Through education, treatment, and affection, prevention of criminal acts reaches juveniles and assists them into a healthier and better life. To be able to use these components at the earliest stage possible is to keep these teenagers away from ever entering the juvenile justice system in the first place. With the help of education, training, and support for the staff, probation officers can be better prepared to take on diverse cases of all types. The juvenile justice system needs improvement. Probation officers, judges, and family members need to make effective decisions about who should really be incarcerated and/or receive probation. If an offense made is not extremely serious and the client and officer can agree on a punishment, the child does not need to present himself upon a judge. If either the client or officer wants to make an appearance in court, an agreement cannot be reached, or threats have been made involving either parties or others, a court decision is most suggested. In addition, to making the correct choices, good community programs are also necessary to place delinquents in a better environment to be able to succeed. Though juveniles tend to steal, trespass, fight, drink, take drugs, use profanity, run away from home, and miss school, many solutions were being thought about to prevent these flaws. The first has already been mentioned and deals with toughening up and placing juveniles in adult courts. The removing offenders from society for longer periods of time will reduce crime. Those who have not committed a serious crime will come to the realization of the possible punishments such as life in prison, the death penalty, and others. Violent offenders would be less likely to repeat their crimes by learning from their first lesson.
