vivek srivastava @CHANDRA PRAKASH PANDEY Dear sir In our plant MEJ is installed in SA & PA Fan Discharge, And NMEJ are installed in All the duct connected with furnace(i.e. between furnace to cyclone, sealpot etc.) 9 days ago Unlike Like

Th biggest problem with these expansion joints is the correct dimensions that must be applied to each specific application. Generally speaking the larger the joint the less movement is tolerated; for example a 96" expansion joint has a total axial movement of only 3 mm. From experience gained in the field, larger axial movements can create severe damage to the pump casing castings and early joint failure. Also exposure to strong sunlight should be avoided with the application of sun shades. Trust that these comments will enlighten the discussion. Heramb Govilkar Vivek, As it is known the expansion joint is used to absorb the expansions of pipework and ductwork and reduce stresses and joint failures due thermal stress. In many other cases it also helps to reduce the vibrations in the duct system. Selection of an expansion joint depends on following criterias, 1) Service - i.e. type of fluid and its chemical nature like corrosiveness etc. 2) Fluid temperatures 3) Ambient temperature 4) Pressure / Vacuum conditions 5) Size of the duct, pipe 6) Movements ( Axial, Lateral etc.)- angles of entry or exit 7) End connections ( flanged, welded etc.) I hope this will give you little idea for selection. For detail criterias read some codes and standars e.g,ASME and for material selection ASTM regards, Heramb Govilkar 1 day ago
