Industry Interface

Continuous interaction and collaboration with industry are an integral component of the Management Programme. Students are encouraged to undertake research-based industry projects as summer Interns and to write applied term papers. Interaction with industry is also formalised via the IndustryInstitute Partnership Cell (IIPC). Sponsored by the AICTE, the IIPC provides a forum for promoting healthy and mutually beneficial interaction between industry and the Institute.

Highlights
Management programme recognized by UGC. Government funded. No capitation fee. Student intake on all-India basis through nationwide Management Aptitude Test (MAT), followed by group discussions and personal interviews. Nominal fees amounting to approximately Rs. 9,000/per session. Centralized library facility with Management Section containing latest books, journals, magazines and news bulletins. Strong alumni support fostered by regular alumni meetings on campus. Support of state-of-art Computer Centre with latest systems and a fiber-optic local area network spanning the entire campus. High staff-to-student ratio (1:10) to ensure greater interaction and personalized attention. Curriculum constantly reviewed and upgraded by faculty interacting with academic and industry experts. Courses and teaching aids are developed with emphasis on requirements of industry. All faculty members have doctoral degrees and have carried out postdoctoral research. Industrial consultancies offered by the Faculty in various fields. Regular industry interaction through Industry Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC). International collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh and Joseph M. Katz Business School in the area of International Finance.

FACULTY PROFILE

Introduction
Instituted in 1991, the Management Programme focuses on meeting industry requirements in a dynamic global environment. It provides a conceptual foundation followed by specialization in a chosen area, stressing quality as well as academic excellence. This, together with a highly dedicated faculty, including eminent guest faculty from renowned international business schools and key corporate organisations, has contributed towards its graduates establishing a niche in their areas of employment. This programme benefits from being part of DEIs value-based environment, that stresses attributes such as discipline, self-reliance, integrity, honesty, hard work, vital for success in todays corporate world.

The curriculum is constantly reviewed and upgraded by the faculty based on interactions with academic and industry experts. The faculty also continuously develop and revise case studies that are used to emphasize management concepts. To strike a balance between the foundation of general management studies and the need for specialization at the advanced level, both core and elective courses are offered.

The MBA Programme offers specializations in Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management and Information Technology through a wide spectrum of elective courses carefully designed to hone both conceptual and analytical skills. Faculty
The Management Programme owes its reputation to its distinguished and dedicated faculty the Institutes pillars of strength. Faculty members are actively involved in teaching, research, consultancy and in-house training programmes and have published widely in national and international journals. Projects funded by organisations such as the UGC, National Stock Exchange and BPCL have been successfully completed. As part of continuing contribution to industry, in-house training programmes have been conducted for both public and private sector organisations such as the Indian Railways, Bajaj Electricals, etc. Guest faculty from top business schools and key corporate organisations contribute significantly to enriching the Programme. Some examples of institutions where guest faculty come from are: Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh; Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, Illinois; Delhi School of Economics; SRF Ltd.; AMEX; Bharti Tele-Ventures; and Schlumberger.

Curriculum
The graduate and post-graduate programmes are offered on a full-time basis. Students are introduced to basic concepts through lectures and a deeper understanding is infused through case studies, group discussions, simulation games, role-playing, seminars and practical project work. Rigorous training in principles and practices of management and exposure to real world applications prepares students for the challenges of the corporate world and teaches them to think critically, analytically and constructively. The semester system facilitates continuous and rigorous evaluation of the students' progress. Assessment methods emphasize development of analytical and communication skills and encourage teamwork. These include case study presentations, group discussions, projects and term papers, providing a platform for the all-round development of the students.
