ThisTorahportion,KiTavo/WhenYouGoIn(Deuteronomy26:129:8),followsonthe heelsofalistingofcommandments(74arecoveredinthepreviousportion).Yetthisweek wehaveonlyonefinalcommandmentcovered(addressingacertainarea)thatfinishesup thelegalsectionofthisdiscourse.ImmediatelyafterthisYahwehthenremindsthe Israelitesoftheritualoftheblessingsandcursesthatareimmediatelyinfrontofthem, dependingonhowtheykeepallofthesecommandmentsthathavejustbeenredeclared. Theirabilitytostayintheland(tostayinthisfavorableCovenantposition)dependsupon theirobedience.Butwhatisthefinalcommandmentcoveredinthislist?Itsthe commandmentconcerningthetithes!Yetwhatssosignificantaboutthisarea,doesit reallyrelatetowhetherwereblessedorcursed,andwhatistheconnectionbetweenthem enteringthelandandobeyingthis? Twoshadowpicturesimmergefromthisportion,allhavetheopportunitytoexperience theJubilee,tohaveourstatuschanged,yetthisonlybecomesofficialwhenwestandunder thechuppah(thecoveringthatsbeingofferedintheformofthisCovenantrelationship). PartofthewayweratifyandsealthisallianceisbybringingourofferingstoHis storehouse! Ourotheroptionistoremainunredeemed,remaininbondage(wherewebringour offeringsplaysapart,aslongaswebuildthestorehousesofEgypt,weremainincovenant withEgypt)andwebecomelikeneduntoJezebel.
