MISSION to the

Greetings in the name of our wonderful Lord Jesus Christ. It is with a great deal of excitement that we share with you a unique opportunity.

TO THE U.S.A. UNLESS SOMEONE~COMES. Would you please give prayer ful consideration to this? May God guide you in all thoughts and consideration of this urgent matter."
A Committment Made
The members of our family have considered this opportunity and challenge with serious prayer and have decided it is God's will that we arrive on the field before the Nutt family leaves. Our going will enable seven more missionaries
to share our Christ in the school, the homes and the GOOD NEWS BOOKSHOP in Sinoia, Rhodesia.
After ten years experience in the located ministry and five years as manager of the bookstore at Ozark Bible College, I feel that it is God's will that I accept this challenge. My wife and I visited the field last summer and wit
nessed first-hand the work that Is being done. We are thrilled with the
possibilities, and we would be happy to share a slide program with you and ex plain the work that we will be doing.
A Unique Ministry
The GOOD NEWS BOOKSHOP, established and managed by the Ziden Nutt family, is located in the heart of town and is the hub of inter-personal contact. Dale Marshall, co-laborer with Ziden, says that the bookstore has been a "deciding factor" in the church getting to the people and in the increase in worship
and Sunday school attendance.

giving them the opportunity to return home for furlough; (2) ministering through the missionaries in the area by giving experienced guidance in the project already begun; (3) ministering to the local citizens, Christians and non-Christians; (4) ministering to the local church by sharing with them in a leadership ministry; (5) ministering to churches who will be blessed in giving to this unique mission need.
The Ziden Nutt family is excited about this development. We hope you are. Would you please respond to this opportunity by returning the enclosed card by March 15th. Perhaps, in addition, you might like to designate a special Easter offering for travel funds. We are surely thankful for being a part of God's family with you as our brothers and sisters in Christ. Our hearts are filled with mixed emotions as we begin the final week be fore the Taylor family leaves for Rhodesia. Their willingness to serve in Rhodesia has been an inspiration to many people these last few months. Please continue to pray for them as they will be making a lot of deci
sions and adjustments in the next few weeks.
Their plan is to leave Joplin airport on Ozark Airlines Flight 952 on Friday, June 21st at 11:19 a.m. Let's have a big delegation from the Joplin area to wish them God-speed! They will fly from New York to Salisbury, Rhodesia, with layovers in Brussels and Johannesburg. At Salisbury they will be met by the Bruce Ajnmerman family (Karolyn is Marje's sister) and Ziden Nutt at 9:35 a.m. on Sunday, June 23rd (2:35
a.m. Sunday, C.D.T.)
We, too, need your prayers as we serve as their forwarding agents. Be cause of the increased postal rates and because most of you will have a receipt from your church, we will not send monthly receipts but will send a receipt in early January of your total giving to the Taylors in

MISSION to the
MISSIONARY
Greetings in the Name of Jesus from Sinoia, Rhodesia. We arrived safely on June 23, right on schedule. The Nutts and Ammermans were there to meet us
along with Misses Ola Marion, Judy Pickett (school teacher and nurse from Chidamoyo Mission) and Janie Gee of Springfield, Mo. (summer intern from L.C.C.)
We had to file papers as temporary immigrants for mission work. This took a little while, and the kids were really excited as their cousins peeked around the corner into the "baggage room. After clearing through the red-tape, we were taken to the Ammerman's home for a visit, a short worship service, and our first home-cooked meal since leaving Joplin. We were all very tired, and after the
noon meal, we visited a while and I (Jim) came on out to Sinoia with the Nutts,
as MarJe and the children-remained in Salisbury to visit for a few days with the
Ammermans.
Sunday evening I experienced ray first worship service with the Hillside Chapel. Missionary Ivan Martin had a good message, but part way through the sermon, I went to sleep and dropped my New Testament in the floor. That woke me up good and I didn't have any more trouble with fatigue. It surely was good to lie down in a nice bed once again on Sunday night.
Sinoia is probably much larger than I had described it to most of you. I was
After sleeping in on Monday morning, Ziden started making the rounds with me,
showing me where the bank, post office, stores, etc. were all located. The Good
News Centre, (bookstore) and Studios will be taking a good part of my time but I still will have some time for work with the Hillside Chapel (European congre gation) and for some work with the African people.
This first week in Sinoia included the mid-week service on Wednesday night,
and then I was in charge of the evening service tonight. There will be an African Youth Meeting in Karoo on Friday night, July We hope to attend this and learn something of the youth work among the African people.
We will probably get the children in school by July 10. They will all have to wear uniforms. The boys will wear short pants, ties, hats, and knee sox. The girls will have to wear dresses, sox, (not hose) hats, and have their hair Just so. None of
them are looking forward to the uniforms but I think they will not mind it so much
after they have a few weeks behind them.
Please continue to pray for us that we may do our work well, that the children may
make a good adjustment, and that we may all be faithful witnesses for the Lord.
Your servants in Rhodesia,
Jim, Marje and family

I could write several pages of things we would like to tell you, but I'll try to summarize and relate the most important events only. The Nutt family left Sinoia on Saturday, June 29. Then for the first time we really felt the full responsibility for our family and for the work here. How heavy it seemed all at once! Julie celebrated her lii-th birthday here on July 1. She received several cards and letters from the U. S., still it was not the same as past
birthdays.
On Sunday, July 7> I went with Ivan Martin to the European (white) service at Mangula. (Ziden had been visiting this church once a month.) This was a holi-day weekend and the number was very small. Then we hurriedly went to Karoi to
attend the remainder of the African Youth Meeting mentioned in our last letter.
I was enjoying the programme until the preacher in charge sent me a note asking me to preach in the afternoon on the Lord's Supper. I didn't reply, but soon he announced that Ero. Taylor would be bringing a message just after- lunch. I
'enjoyed" some sadza and chicken, all the while trying to remember some of the
outlines I have used in the past. I made it thru the short sermon via translator,
and sat down very much relieved. I had been forwarned that this is a common occurrence, but I don't think I'll ever get used to it. Marje and the children came out to Karoi that afternoon and before dark we were
well on our way to the Chidamoyo Mission. We returned Monday evening after spending a relaxing day at the mission and renewing acquaintances with the Frasures and Harrisons. This was Rhodes Day, a national holiday here. The next day, Founders Day is also a holiday, and that afternoon the children begged to
On Sunday, July li+, the whole family enjoyed a fellowship dinner with the Church
here. Hillside Chapel. Several families shared together and there were several new dishes to try. The children confined their choices mostly to "Mom's cookin'".
After learning somewhat of the needs, I volunteered to take on the responsibility of the Mangula church (European). The African church there is strong, but the
European church really needs help.
I don't want to
alarm anyone, but facts are facts. One of the African evangelists whom I met soon after my arrival, was killed by terrorists on July 8, even as the family was having evening devotions. He was in a dangerous area and knew this could happen. But what a shock to all of us, and especially to his family. Please pray with us that his family, the Sitholes, may remain faithful to God in this trying time. May God bless each one of you as you continue to serve our Lord.
Your servants in Rhodesia,
On August 9, word was received that Gay Ammerman, 13 year old daughter of Bruce and Carolyn, had an emergency appendectomy. During the surgery, a malignant tumor was

"Madam, the bed seed is finished." These were the words of Smart, our African gar dener. I asked Jim if he thought he meant to tell me that he was out of seed for the garden or if the garden beds were finished. In three days, he came to me again and repeated the same thing. This time Tim was standing near by and told me that he was saying the bird seed was finished. We promptly bought some bird seed, but
only after a couple of birds had died, apparently from lack of "bed seed".

I have been helping Jim in the bookstore and even though the work is not hard, you are worn out by the end of the day from the strain of trying to imderstand what is being said and what they mean. For instance, one lady asked for plastic sleeves,
and another wanted stamp hinges and on and on it goes. At church, a man was carry

The children must cope with the same type of thing at school but they are learning quickly and making the adjustments very well. They all have to use fountain pens
to do all of their schoolwork and this is messy. The style of writing is different
but since we will just be here one year, I don't think the teachers are going to be
too strict with them. Their reports at the end of one month of school were very
encouraging. The teachers commented that they were off to a good start. We are very thankful for the way they are coming along and feel it is due to many prayers
offered by you folk and the folk here in Sinoia.

Again, we express our and prayer support.

Dear Christian Friends, Thank you, thank you, thank you! So many things have happened!
The past two months have really flown by.

I enjoyed another kind of fellowship in Salisbuiy on September 19. The Chris tian booksellers had a get together to discuss plans for Christian Book Year 1975' There are always errands to run each time I get to Salisbury-that after

September 21-22, we all enjoyed another trip to Chidamoyo Mission. This our last time to visit with Miss Ola Marion, the mission school teacher. and Marje have become close friends through the past few weeks.

Just about the time the October newsletter was due to be written, our routine was
drastically changed. Please forgive us for being so late. On Wednesday, Oct. 30 after we were all in bed, we received a phone call from Marje's dad. He called to report that Gay Ammerman, our 13 year old niece, was near death with cancer. The Dr. gave her only a few days to live. After much praying and heart-searching concerning the cost, MarJe left Rhodesia on November 1 to be with the Ammermans. (Mrs. Ammerman is Marje's sister) It was difficult for her to leave her family here, expecially for such a trip. We have been blessed as we have learned to appreciate her more for her planning and preparing meals, helping with homework,
washing clothes, etc., etc.
Let me tell you some of the things that have been happening here.

We were very much impressed by the size of the mission. The chil dren were most impressed by the new swimming pool. On our return, we made a
short visit to the famous Zimbabwe Ruins.
On November 23, we made our trip to Mangula, and were pleased to meet another family interested in the Lord's work. Please continue to pray for the work there.
Wednesday morning, November 6, we had our montlily "prayer and share" session with
