I apologize for the inconvenience you have suffered and I will investigate your issue as quickly as possible.

Please be advised that the standard upon which Georgia Power Company pays for claims is negligence. We do not pay claims for damages that occur because of unanticipated equipment failure, acts of nature, or any other damages due to circumstances beyond our control.

Also, should the Georgia Power Company accept liability; I can only reimburse you for the actual cash value or repair cost for any damaged property. We cannot pay replacement cost. Depreciation and other deductions may be applied to any item. Please keep all receipts and invoices for repairs.

If you have extensive damages; you may be better served to file with your Insurance if you have Replacement Coverage with them.

Also, please save all damaged items as Georgia Power Company reserves the right to inspect or dispose of any damaged property.

I apologize for any inconvenience and will get you an answer as quickly as possible. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

How does a private citizen prove negligence without ha~ng a clear understanding of the power industry or what went wrong? We were infonned by your employees to leave our home. We were not infonned that the corrections were made until we called almost a week later. However, we later learned that major problems continued to exist and to leave our home at once. This warning came from the repair man and the electrician. We were told by Georgia Power that the problem was corrected and we could return home, only to learn from the repair man and electrician that it appears nothing was done. Throughout the process of trying to correct the electrical problem, we were given different statement by several different people. Georgia Power never left one notice or documentation explaining what happened, whether the problem was fixed, or that we could retum home, etc. No one left a notice on the door or called. The one notice we received on our door was to cut a tree which was long after notifying Georgia Power of the power surge and other electrical problems. Should we attempt to say what the different employees said to us? Should we mention what the contractors said during their ~sit to cut the tree? Could you give more information Confused about the process? about negligence? Does this mean that we must locate an attorney?

We were told that a claim was filed and that someone would contact us within 24 to 48 hours. However, almost over a 4-5 days went by before we called back and was told that the process takes longer because Georgia Power has to do an investigation. Is this part of the investigation? I will file out the attachment. Sincerely, Viola Davs Confused Homeowner

Ms. Davis,

T his is a confusing issue and I'm trying to get to the bottom of it.

I spoke with our Techntian that repaired the line to your home and he said it looked like someone got into the wire with a Chainsaw.

Someone named Jeff caled in and said a Tree Company Cut the Une. I tried to ca. him and got no answer.

Our Meter Techncan went out and found the Meter removed, so he had to set a new one.

So you see; there are several things going on here. I have a caBinto our Tree Crew Coordinator to see if our Tree Contractor knO\IVS anything about it.

I apologize for the delay, but I am working on it.

I apologize for the delay in the resolution of your Claim, but I have completed my investigation and you do not qualify for reimbursement from Georgia Power Company.

Your issue was caused by an Act of Nature; specifically a tree grew into the Service that feeds your home and damaged the Neutral Une. As explained below; the standard upon which Georgia Power Company pays for claims is negligence. We do not pay claims for damages that occur because of unanticipated equipment failure, acts of nature, or any other damages due to circumstances beyond our control.

Again, I apologize for any trouble you may have experienced, but since there was no negligence on the part of Georgia Power that caused your damages; I must respectfully deny your claim.

You may want to discuss this with your Insurance Company to see if you might have a claim with them.

Should you have any questions, or have any further information you would like for me to consider; feel free to call or e-mail me.

Respectfully,

~p~~

You nor Georgia Power address the issue of power surges and the fact that it took three calls to repair our electrical problem. We have yet to receive any veriflcation on the fact that major power surges occurred after the storm which was stated by Georgia Power employees. I agree that this occurred after the big storm; however, I must question the fact that this crisis in\Ql\d multiple factors to include: 1. The storm that caused the 12 hour black out initially. 2. The lack of proper repair of the electrical line that allowed double electrical current into our home.

3. The power surges that also caused additional damage to our home.
We were informed that the power line was place in the wrong location by Georgia Power by a person that work for your company. You said that your technician stated that "the line looked like someone went to it with a chain saw'.

Ms. Davis,

I wiDbe happy to consder any information you can provde. The PowerPoint dd not come through, so please send it again. A TimeHne W11 help because I cannot find in our System where you called in three times.

The wire was in bad shape, but the damage occurred when the Neutral separated due to being pushed by the Tree. That's why he replaced twenty feet of wire and reattached it.

"However. the fact that Georgia Power refused to provide any documentation what so ever places the homeowner at the mercy of your corporation. " What kind of documentation do you need? Below, I

described what happened based on the information I have, but I W11 provide you with whatever you need.

Ms. Davis, Georgia Power is not one of those Corporations that tries to "short change" or "beat" our Customers out of what they are due. If we are at fault; we wiI make it right, but I must be able to prove it.

Sincerely,
