ANTRIEB ACTUATORS

ANTRIEB

Description
Specification and Application
The various problems associated with open and closed loop control technology have produced special solutions for particular discipline groups. Among these the Actuators, which are switched off at a fixed torque value greater than the operating torque, form a large sector. They are fitted to regulating devices which must be stopped by torque relating switching when they have reached the end of travel or if over loads occur- e.g. valves of all types, gates and locks. They are installed primarily in power stations, steel plants, the chemical and petro chemical industries as well as in the water supply. This device has been known worldwide for many years as the EMG DREHMO Actuators and in India as ANTRIEB ACTUATORS. These were being supplied as Weather proof with IP65 enclosure. The ANTRIEB ACTUATORS of the DC type have been improved upon to provide a Water Tight enclosure of IP68 and Maintenance Free operation. This has been achieved by providing ORing sealed enclosure for the switch / terminal compartment, sealed motors without fan, compact design for integral starter assembly with online checking facility etc. In addition to torque-related switch-off, ANTRIEB Actuators can fulfill the following specifications: Position-related switch off, signaling and interlocking, mechanical and electrical position indication, as well as manual operation. Bearing in mind the different closing and opening torque necessary for the conditions specified, positive positioning at both ends of travel- open and closed must be guaranteed. The torque- or position- related switch-off points must lie within narrow limits of tolerance. Position indication locally and at the control center is as important, as the ability to operate the device by hand when necessary . ANTRIEB TECHNIK PRIVATE LIMITED

Mechanical Design
The ANTRIEB Actuators described in this leaflet consist primarily of the worm gear (3/4) in the housing ( 15) with fitted motor (1) which is flange mounted to the worm gear and the electrical switch elements (8 /9 /10). The worm is a displacement type which is held centrally in position by two compressed springs. The displacement path of this worm, which causes operation of the torque switches(8/9) is proportional in either direction to the force of the appropriate spring (5/7). A torque scale displays the value of torque set. A limit switch unit (10) is fitted to give switch-off related to either position or number of revolutions. The output drives (19/20/22) can, in accordance with DIN 3210 or ISO 5210 be supplied in the following versions: Stem nut, large bore, claw coupling, shaft extension, small bore. The ANTRIEB Actuators also have a handwheel, which remains stationary during motor operation. It is engaged by means of a lever (13). Disengaging is automatic when motor operation recommences.

Method of Operation by Motor

The motor torque, in types DC0 and DC1,is transmitted directly via the worm gear (3/4), clutch sleeve (17) and hollow shaft (18) to the output drive (19/20). In types DC2 and DC3 a spur gear (21) is fitted. If a torque greater than that fixed by the compression of the spring is affecting the output drive (19/20/22) then due to the force on the worm wheel the worm (3) is axially displaced against spring (5), if rotation is to the left or against spring (7), if rotation is to the right. The axial displacement causes operation of the torque switch (8) or (9) by the spring disc (6). This de-energies the motor via a contactor. If necessary for example with actuator having a worm that is not self-locking the torque switches (8/9) return after operating to their original position. Where the continuous signal exists, a relay must be provided in the actuator control circuit to prevent repeated switch-on and switch-off (pumping).

Method Of operation by Hand

By engaging the lever (13) in the Hand position the clutch sleeve (17) is moved axially by means of the declutching mechanism (12) so that it is disengaged from the worm wheel (4) and engaged with the hand wheel (14). When the motor is re-started, the hand operation mechanism disengages automatically so that the requirement motor operation takes precedence over hand operation is fulfilled. If required, return to motor operation can be carried out manually. For this, lever (13) is pulled out and motor and actuator connections are re-engaged.
