What's New?
What's New?
SAP BusinessObjects Mobile for iPad 4.0.3 provides the following new features in the software: Extended platform support: The app now supports the industry's latest mobile operating system: iOS 5, iOS 5.0.1 and the latest on iOS 4.3.5 Support for Cloud (BI OnDemand Server): The app supports both the BI OnPremise and BI OnDemand deployments from SAP. The BI OnDemand server is SAP's cloud based BI deployment. By connecting to the BI OnDemand server, you gain remote access to the BI platform content (while being in your premises) and can take advantage of SAP's in-memory database for storing and analyzing your business data on the mobile. For information about how to configure a BI OnDemand connection on your iPad, refer to Configuring a BI OnDemand Connection on the iPad. Enhancements to the "Settings" screen: The "Settings" screen of the app has been revamped to provide all setting options in a better organized manner. For more information, refer to Configuring General App Settings. Capability to switch between connections: While working in online mode, you can directly switch between the available connections without needing to explicitly log out from your current connection. For more information about this feature, refer to Switching Between Available Connections. Capability to view the latest instance of a downloaded document : If a document downloaded on your iPad device, has been scheduled on the BI platform server, you can view the latest instance of the document. For complete information, refer to: Accessing the Latest Instance of a Downloaded Document. Enhancements to charts: Support for negative stack bars: When a dimension on the Y- axis of a line or bar graph has negative values, the lines or bars appear below the origin of the graph, that is on the negative Y-axis. On a negative line chart, there is a clear zero line indication. New improved legend visibility: All the legends of a graph are consistently indicated beneath the graph. If there is insufficient space to display all the legends, they do not appear in the view. In this case, all legends can be seen by double- tapping the graph. The width of lines and bars in graphs are standardized in both orientations (portrait and landscape) of the device. The upper limit of the number of data points in a bar-chart is standardized to ensure proper visibility in all scenarios. For examples of above enhancments and the various types of charts supported by the app, refer to the Working with Report Parts section of this document. Enhancements to Prompts: You can now search for values in a prompt window. Once you have selected prompt values, they are persisted on the iPad. Everytime you refresh the report (in the same or future session), your selections appear by default in the prompt. For more information refer to Using Prompts to Filter the Data of a Document

What's New?
Enhancements to Tables: Following are certain enhancements to tables: The app supports larger content (up to 500,000 table cells) for all table types. The app supports all table column actions (Hide, Freeze, Wrap) in page mode (default view) of the Web Intelligence report on the iPad. You dont need to zoom a table for performing these actions. New look and feel of the column re-order functionality. To re-position a column in the table, you can swipe the column header to the desired position. While you perform this action, the column header turns blue.
Activity indicator: When performing an action such as refreshing a report or opening an online Web Intelligence document, the app displays an indicator while waiting for a response from the server. The indicator appears as a "Please wait" message with a Cancel button. If you want to cancel the acitivity, tap Cancel. There is no limit to the size of Web Intelligence documents that can be accessed on the iPad. Several known bugs are fixed in the app.

If there is a new instance available for your document, the document continues to display the Update Available notification in the "Downloaded" section. Note: If there is no new instance available for the document, then no notification appears on the document. This means that the document has undergone a data update on the server that was retrieved from the server when you performed this step. 3. In the "Downloaded" section of "My Reports", double tap the same document again. The "Report Information" screen appears:
23
2011-12-22
4. Tap the Instance button that appears in the "Report Information" screen (as depicted in the above figure). The latest instance of the document appears on the screen. Note: 1. When viewing a document's content, whenever you tap the document in the "Downloaded" section of your "My Reports" screen of your iPad (or tap View on the "Report Information" screen), the mobile for iPad software compares instants in time when: The last server update to the document was retrieved by you. The latest document instance that you accessed was run on the server.
24
2011-12-22
Based on the greater of the above two time values, the software returns the corresponding version of the document to you. This means that when you view a document, you get access to the most updated version of the document available on the client side of the mobile for iPad application 2. The Remove and View buttons for removing and viewing the document respectively appear as always on the "Report Information" screen and do not depend on the update status of the document. The line-chart in the figure above displays multiple measures. Each linear curve represents the values of a measure corresponding to the values of dimension {'Store name'}. Measures are distinguised with the help of legends depicted at the bottom of the chart {'Margin', 'Revenues_negative', 'Sales revenue'}.
33
2011-12-22
You can work with the line charts as described below. To view the value at any particular point on the line chart, tap the required point. To view the chart for a specific range, select and drag the slider. Note: There is clear indication of the "zero line" in line graphs that have negative values of the measure.
34
2011-12-22
To view the value of a specific sector of a pie chart, perform one of the following: Move the pointer to the required sector. Tap the corresponding legend at the bottom of the chart. Use the arrows in the information bar.
6.2.5 Scorecards
35
2011-12-22
Scorecards represent the data of report tables through microcharts (sparklines and gradient fills), trend status icons, trend buttons and arrows. The purpose of scorecards is to simplify the visual interpretation of table data. Following is an example of a scorecard:
In the above example: The scorecard displays data of a cross-table on the iPad. The data of the fourth column appears as a button icon that is gradient filled to indicate percentage values. The scorecard displays the data from columns five to sixteen of the cross-table as microcharts within a single column titled as Sales. Each microchart consists of a sparkline that is gradient filled and depicts the revenue trend of respective cities across twelve months of the year.
36
2011-12-22
To view scorecards, it is essential that your administrator configures the vertical and cross tables of Web Intelligence reports to display them as scorecards on the iPad. This configuration is done while designing the report using Web intelligence client tools on the BI platform. For a complete understanding of scorecards and the related concepts, refer to the SAP BusinessObjects Mobile for iPad Administrator guide available at http://help.sap.com/businessobject/prod uct_guides/boexir4/en/403_mobiPad_admin_en.pdf
37
2011-12-22
If you want to continue with the same selection, you can proceed by tapping Done. Else, you can make the required selections and they will be persisted when you refresh the document in future. This is particularly useful when you want many values to be consistently selected in the prompt, everytime the document is refreshed. Note: When refreshing a document and accessing the enabled prompts, you must be connected to the BI platform server via an active Corporate connection. If you attempt to refresh a Web Intelligence document in your "Downloaded" list in offline mode, you get an error message.
38
2011-12-22
The values of the Country {'US', 'France'} appear as hyperlinks (in blue). When you click on either of these values, the Web Intelligence document with useful information corresponding to these countries opens on the iPad. In this particular example, when you click on 'France', a Web Intelligence document appears displaying the aggregate revenue of all resorts across all services in France. Note: You must be in online mode of the device and connected to the SAP BusinessObjects Mobile server for accessing the OpenDoc feature of the app. For the document linking property to work in a Web Intelligence document, the document needs to be configured using the Web Intelligence application of the BOE (BI platform) by the administrator or report-designer.
