10 - Point Agenda of DepEd 1.

A 12 year education cycle in which graduates will be equipped with the necessary competencies and skill enabling them to work right after graduation. Also this will allow the country to be at par with the other countries in terms of length of basic education required before entrance to university. 2. Universal Pre-schooling for all which aims to put all young children in the school at an early age so as to prepare them and educate them with the most basic education which will continue as they progress in the upper grade level. 3. Establish the Madaris education as a subsystem in the current education system, this is in line with the consideration that the government is giving to the Muslim Filipinos enabling them to learn Islamic values and Arabic translations. 4. Re-introduce technical and vocational education in public high school that will lead to more globally competitive and highly skilled graduates. This will enable students to engage in agriculture and fisheries that is the local type of job found in the country. 5. Every child a reader in grade 1 by enforcing the ECARP program. This will help determine pupils who are having a difficulty reading so as to give them a one-on-one assistance in learning how to read. Similar to the policy of No Read No Move in the Grade 1 Level. 6. Improve Science and Mathematics through the ESEP program being implemented in many public high schools wherein the major focus of learning is given to these subjects. Students are also tracked down on the kind of courses that they engaged in after graduation to view the impact of the science and mathematics curriculum in their chosen field, that is, these students are expected to take science and mathematics related courses. 7. Expand government assistance to private education since there are too many students that many public schools cannot accommodate anymore and are being provided with government assistance to enroll in a private school. 8. Use of Mother-Language instruction which is being exercised in the early grades so that learners can easily comprehend the lessons being taught in their native tongue. 9. Better textbooks that are error free and are up to date and are available to learners. 10. Build more schools in cooperation with LGUs since the fund of the DepEd are appropriated in many different aspects of learning thus LGUs are encouraged to facilitate and sponsor school buildings or classrooms that will allow more students to be accommodated in schools.
