Dorothy Uhlig's Report from Thailand

October 2010

POSSIBILITY CONFIRMED

A few days ago a former student, Kriengsak, came to visit. He was in the dorm for 2 years in 1978-79. He is
now a teacher at a district school. He has remained

friends with 2 girls also in the dorm at that time.

Tongdee is the head teacher of a kindergarten in the province south of us and Watsana also worked as a
teacher but married a man from Switzerland 2 or 3

years ago. Both of the girls became Christians and have remained true through the years. Kriengsak came from a Mien family and never accepted the Lord. He gave me the girls' postal and email addresses, and phone numbers. We have been praying about starting
an alumni association for CYDG and this confirms the

Thailan

possibility. Now we need to pray for a former student who has the ability and the desire to collect addresses and start an alumni association. It could become a ministry of encouragement, a means of helping the Christians remain firm In their faith and also continue to reach out to former students who did not come to the Lord. It will take time to compile the records since 1963 and then try by way of the grapevine (or facebook) to contact others. There are lots of possibilities for someone with the vision and the ability. School Is out for a couple of weeks and some of the students went to youth camp today. Perhaps some can help in this project.
EXCHANGE RATE CAUSES FINANCIAL DIFFICULTY FOR DORM

CYDC continues to have problems financially which is increased by the falling rate of the dollar. The last transfer with bank charges deducted gave 29.50 Baht to the Dollar. (Six years ago it was 40 Baht/Dollar.) Pray, for the Lord's hand is not shortened that He cannot help nor is His ear deaf that He cannot hear.
PARADE BRINGS VISIBILITY TO CHURCHES

On August 12^^ the Fellowship of

Churches organized a parade of the
area churches in honor of the

Queen's birthday and Thai Mother's Day. Our dormitories and the leadership training center took part In this. The comment I heard was, "We didn't know there were that many
Christians and churches in this area."

LEADERSHIP TRAINING CENTER

The Leadership training center

finished the first term with 6

students. During October they are helping In their home churches and youth camps. One of the teachers had an opportunity to teach a group of leaders in a closed country. He
found keen interest but little

knowledge. Pray they will study the Word and be taught by the Holy Spirit. May they grow in grace and knowledge.
YOUNG PEOPLE GOING OUT

Two young people from Development village are working in Korea and another will be going soon. Many of our young people have gone on to college in different schools throughout Thailand. They are making new friends, meeting new tests and trials and

experiencing both victory and defeat. They need safe housing, Christian friends and follows up so they will stand firm in their Christian lives. Open dorms (both sexes) and the world concept of morality has swept through the younger generation just as In America with the attending evils. Pray more Christian dorms will open to assist these young people in as
they seek to live for Christ.
FROM ONE SMALL LIGHT TO A FIRE

God is working In Huey Fuang, a Mien village about 50 kilo from Chiangkham. Over 40 years ago a Mien woman, Goi Lin, was reached by the Callaways. She was a lone flickering flame that refused to go out. She was joined by her daughter and the flame glowed brighter. Some children from the village began to attend high school in Chiangkham and live in the CYDC dorm. Many of them believed including a granddaughter and the flame became brighter. Two couples believed. Five children from one family all passed through the dorm
and just recently their parents accepted the Lord. Other families are interested.

Many of them are distantly related to Goi Lin, the first believer. The house father and another group visit to teach, encourage, and worship with them. Now the Mien churches in

that area have said they will help teach and encourage them. From one small light some 40 years ago to a fire that is growing and promising to burst forth for the glory of God. ^ Praise God! Pray that the new Christians will be firmly founded in the faith and for the continued working of the Holy Spirit in hearts and lives. May the fire grow ever brighter and
draw others into its light.
THANKYOU

You too have a vital part in the work of sharing the light of Jesus Christ in the hearts and

lives of these in this part of Thailand through your prayers, gifts and encouragement. It is a battle against the forces of darkness to bring these captives of Satan into the glorious
freedom of Christ. Join us in the battle. God bless you.
Yours In His service.
