RECEIVING INSPECTION AND STORING

CV-86

3-1 RECEIVING INSPECTION

Visually inspect the transducer for obvious shipping damage. If shippng damage is apparent, file a claim with the carrier and submit a copy to SHINKAWA Sensor Technology, LTD.

3-2 STORING CONSIDERATIONS

If storing is required temporarily, observe the following notes. (1) Store the transducers in the shipping box. (2) Do not store in the following places. a) with extreme temperature. b) with much moisture. c) with magnetic field. d) with shock or vibration. e) with corrosive materials. f) with water or dust.

-4-

4.

INSTALLATION
Model CV-86 can be mounted to the measured point by using attached mounting stud. ! CAUTION

CV-86

4-1 GENERAL

The mounting surface must be clean, smooth, flat, and large enough to accommodate the entire base of the transducer.

4.2 INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Mount the CV-86 transducer by performing the following steps. (1) Drill and tap the mounting hole (M6, 5mm deep min.) perpendicular (901) to the mounting surface. (2) Clean the mounting surface. Dirt, dust, paint and oils must be wiped out from the mounting surface. Ensure the mounting hole is free off foreign material and the threads are clean. (3) Install the mounting stud into the transducer base and finger tighten until snug. (4) Apply some silicon grease to the mounting surface. (5) Install the transducer into tapped mounting hole and tighten the transducer with a torque wrench until snug. The transducer is torqued to about 320Ncm(33kgcm REF.). ! CAUTION Do not over-torque. Excessive torque can result in degraded performance, internal damage and inaccurate readings.

4.

INSTALLATION
Connect connector by performing the following steps for Model CV-861 connector type version. (1) Securely connect the connector of the cable to the connector receptacle of the transducer.

CV-86

4-3 CONNECTOR CONNECTION PROCEDURE

(2) To prevent loosening of the connector due to vibration, secure the connector with stainless wire as shown below.

CAUTION 1. If used in the place with much moisture, encapsulate the connector with silicon compound that does not have an acetic base. 2. If used in outdoor environment, drip-proof type connector cable should be used. 3. Be ware not to apply the excessive force to the connector, which may cause the damage.

-6-

4.

INSTALLATION
Observe the following notes for cabling. (1) Use the CW-050 standard cable for connection with the CV-861 connector type version.

CV-86

4-4 CABLE

Use the twisted pair, shielded cable (AWG No.16 to 20) for connection between the junction terminal and monitoring device. Select suitable cable for operating environments. (2) The cable should not exceed 300 meters. Excessive length may limit the systems frequency response. (3) Keep cabling away from power and control lines, to prevent noise interference. (4) Cable should be securely fixed. Prevent the cable from bending sharply, twisting, kinking, knotting, and straining. The recommended minimum bend radius is 80mm. SHINKAWA recommends that the cable should be routed, through conduit to prevent physical damage and noise interference. ! CAUTION Be ware not to apply the excessive force to the connector cable, which may cause the damage.

WIRING DIAGRAM

CV-86

5-1 WIRING PROCEDURE

The CV-86 requires an external DC power source to operate. Proper operation can be obtained by applying a DC power to the appropriate lead of transducer through a current regulating (CR) diode, as shown below. ! CAUTION 1. Never omit the current regulating diode. 2. Do not reverse polarity. 3. If the transducer is connected to the monitoring device (e.g. vibration monitor) that can supply DC power output to the transducer, refer to the instruction of the monitoring device.
May be provided as part of monitoring device. Power +18 to +30VDC (Recommended+24VDC) * CR diode Power, signal 2 to 10mA Signal output 0V(return)

WARNING Beware of electric shock from high-voltage parts.

CAUTION 1. A blocking capacitor (10F) is required in series with the output signal if the readout instrument is DC coupled. 2. When the CW shielded cables connected to the shell, do not connect the shield cable to common terminal. (Refer to Fig.2)
