All Saints Catholic College is an 11-16 voluntary aided school. We are also a specialist Humanities college, which strengthens our inclusive Catholic ethos and engenders high standards of achievement. We strive to offer the very best educational and life opportunities to our students. At All Saints, we believe in providing the highest possible level of teaching, learning, care and support. We aim to be a truly Christian community, where our relationships are built on respect, forgiveness and reconciliation. We encourage leadership through service in all our young people. It is of great importance to us that we educate our students to value education not just for what it brings to them, but for how it can help them contribute more fully to the communities in which they live, enabling them to take their place as responsible, confident young adults in the 21st century; we aim to live out our mission To love and serve. Every child matters at All Saints and everyone works hard to develop the unique potential in all our students. This is achieved through high expectations and a supportive learning environment. Curriculum and Learning in the Classroom

Learning The most important part of any students experience at All Saints Catholic College is their learning. We aim to provide the best possible teaching to facilitate the learning of our students. We are constantly employing new strategies and training our staff to ensure they help our students learn to the best of their individual abilities. We regularly monitor the progress of all our students. This process starts during primary transition, and continues until they receive their GCSE results in Year 11. Regular assessments inform teaching and learning as well as providing opportunities for support and challenge where needed. We have a wide range of support strategies to help all our students achieve their potential, including mentoring, extra classes, one to one tuition, assessment advice, student conferences and meetings with parents on how best to help their children. Key Stage 3 (Years 7 & 8) Courses for all students include: Maths, English, Science, Religious Education, French, History, Geography, Physical Education, Art, Music, Drama, Technology, Information Technology and PSHCE (Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education) Through these programmes of study, students learn the skills and processes of particular disciplines, as well as making links to the wider curriculum. Key Stage 4 (Years 9, 10 & 11) Courses for all students include: Maths, English Language and Literature, Science, Information Technology, Physical Education and Religious Education. In Key Stage 4, students are also able to choose from a wide range of GCSE and BTEC option subjects.

I was scared at first because I had so many different teachers but they were all really nice and I settled in very quickly.

Care, guidance and support

Form Groups All our students are placed in form groups where they are assigned a form tutor. The form tutor is the primary link between the students and home. They act as a mentor and role model for the students in their form. This work is supported by an Achievement Coordinator and the Behaviour for Learning Team, and staff in our STAR Centre, who work closely with all students in the year group, to help them overcome any barriers to their learning, enjoyment and achievement. Transition In order to help our students make the step from primary to secondary education, we have a series of transitional events. These begin in Year 3 and continue through Years 4, 5 and 6. We have events at All Saints to which our future students are invited. Staff and current students also enjoy visiting the primary schools, to get to know the students and answer any questions they may have about All Saints. Transition does not end when the students arrive at All Saints. We also help them progress beyond Year 11. We have excellent links with the local 6th Form Colleges and a very supportive careers and advice service, which helps to ensure all our students move on to an appropriate next step for their personal development.

Spirituality
Faith Education As a Faith school we believe we have a duty to prepare our students for much more than simply the world of work. Our distinctive faith and values mean our care, guidance and support are very important to us. We believe it is our responsibility to help our students discover a sense of the world and their own place in it. We promote values such as serving others, family life and personal responsibility. We also help our students prepare for life changing decisions that involve relationships, vocation and careers. Faith in Action Each year, many of our Year 10 students go on pilgrimage to Lourdes where they help the sick people in our community. This is an integral part of college life and we involve all our students in the work that goes into preparing the group for their pilgrimage. We have a vast range of charitable activities taking place during the year through which we raise funds for the less fortunate in our local community and across the world. This raises awareness of the needs of others. Religious Services We provide many opportunities for our students to celebrate important feasts in the liturgical calendar. We have liturgies or mass at Christmas, Easter and on all holy days of obligation. We have form group Masses and provide our students with opportunities to develop their faith outside college through involvement with local parishes, charity groups and national events, such as the Papal Mass.

I signed up to go to Lourdes for the experience. I think it will be unique and spiritual but fun too. The promise auction was good fun; everyone supported us in our fundraising.
Ciara, Year 10

Sport We offer a wide range of sporting opportunities for boys and girls. These include football, rugby league, athletics, cricket, basketball, netball, tennis and cross country. The Arts Students can become involved in musical productions such as Aladdin, We Will Rock You and Bugsy Malone. We have various musical opportunities including a choir and dance groups for students in all year groups. Clubs and Councils There is a thriving St Vincent De Paul group at All Saints, who are very active in the community. Many students are also involved in their Year Council and are also part of the College Council. They are very active in many aspects of College life, such as organising events, developing social areas and even the appointment of new staff.

The best thing about All Saints is all the different teams you can join, depending on which sport you like.

I am on the council and we get to have our say in lots of decisions, including rewards.

Learning outside of the Classroom

Out of class learning We believe that much valuable learning also takes place outside of the classroom environment. Out of class activities offer students the chance to learn in different ways which are often more practical and experimental. We encourage educational trips off site and organise a variety of activities in college; all students are involved as we believe this will help them become more effective learners as well as giving them an enjoyable experience at All Saints. Enrichment Days For a few days each year we suspend our regular classroom timetable and all students participate in out of class learning activities. They are involved in various educational trips, year group activities and themed lessons. Recently this has included visits by published authors and poets, interform sports competitions, Crime Scene Investigation days, trips to theatres, art galleries, the Space Museum, Liverpool Cathedrals, Quarry Bank Mill, the Imperial War Museum in London, the 2012 Olympic site and the Royal Armouries.

Lindisfarne was really good. The views and the walks were brilliant. It was a memorable trip; a reward I will never forget.
Rebecca, Year 9

Teaching is good. Teachers plan a variety of interesting activities

which engage students and help them make good progress.
