ST- 08: Laboratory- Concrete Technology Teaching Scheme Practicals: 2 hrs/week Examination Scheme Term Work: 25 Marks Pract/ Viva-Voce: 25 Marks

The term work shall consist of a record of laboratory experiments performed during the semester. The list of the experiments is mentioned below (perform any five). 1. Study of the effect of w/c ratio on workability and strength of concrete 2. Study of the effect of aggregate cement ratio on workability and strength of concrete 3. Study of the effect of fine to coarse aggregate ratio on workability, cohesiveness and permeability of concrete 4. Comparative study of ACI 211.1.91, DOE (1988) and IS 10262-1982 methods of concrete mix proportioning 5. Determination of Modulus of elasticity of concrete 6. A study of correlation between cube strength, cylindrical strength, split strength and modulus of rupture of concrete of a particular grade. 7. Demonstration Experiments on Non- Destructive testing of concrete

Viva-voce Examination based on the record of experiments submitted by the candidate shall be conducted by the two internal examiners appointed by the Head of the department.

ST -09: Seminar - I Examination Scheme Term work: 50 Marks

Seminar at the end of Ist semester shall consist of submission of a technical report in a prescribed format based on the reviewed literature from various sources on current topic. The candidate will deliver a talk on the topic and the assessment will be made on the basis of the term work and the talk thereon, by two internal examiners one of whom will be the guide and other appointed by the Head of the department.

SEMESTER-II ST-10: Theory of Plates and Shells

Unit 1: Introduction to thin plates under small deflection, Kirchoffs small deflection theory, Strain displacement , stress-displacement and force-displacement relationships Unit 2: Rectangular plates, differential equation, solution of simply supported plates under in plane and lateral loading, Navier and Lavys Solution. Use of Finite difference and finite element method Unit 3: Symmetrical bending of circular plates, differential equation, uniformly loaded and concentrically loaded plates with various boundary conditions Unit 4: Classification of shells, Type of surfaces, structural characteristics, geometr ical criteria for different shells. Unit 5: Basic equations of membrane analysis of shells of revolution, circular cylindrical shell, elliptical, hyperbolic and paraboloidal shells. ST-11: Design of Advanced R.C.C. Structures

ST-19: Dissertation Part I Examination Scheme Term work-50 marks Pract/ Viva-Voce: 50 Marks It shall consist of submission of report in a prescribed format based on a comprehensive and critical review of literature related to the topic selected for dissertation. Report should cover Introduction, Literature Review, Objective and Scope of Investigation and Pilot studies carried out during the semester. The candidate will deliver a talk thereon which will be assessed by two internal examiners one of whom will be the guide and other appointed by the head of the department

ST-20: Dissertation Part II Examination Scheme Term work-50 marks Pract/ Viva-Voce: 200 Marks

The dissertation shall consist of research work done by the candidate or a comprehensive and critical review of any recent development in the subject or a detailed report of project work consisting of a design and / or development work that the candidate has executed in continuation with report submitted by the candidate in Dissertation Part-I. The examinee shall submit five copies of the dissertation to the Head of the institution duly certified that the work has been satisfactorily completed. TERM WORK: The dissertation will be assessed by two examiners appointed by the Controller of Examination, one of whom will be the guide and the second examiner shall be from other university area.

Practical Examination: Shall consist of a defense presented by the examinee on


his/her work in the presence of teachers and students and two examiners appointed by the university. One of whom will be the guide and the second examiner shall be from other university area.
