PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The proposed Al-Faisaliah Site Jeddah Strategic Reservoir Project is intended for storage of desalinated water purposes. The proposed project is located at the property ofAl-Faisaliah site in Al-Faisaliah district, Jeddah - KSA. (See Figures No 1). This proposed Al-Faisaliah Site Jeddah Strategic Reservoir Project will consist of four ground water tanks structures. Each proposed water tank is cylindrical in shape (Diameter 130.0m x high 18.0m). The storage capacity of the proposed reservoirs is about 1,000,000 cubic meters of desalinated water. No other structure information is available at the time of writing this report No other structure information is available at the time of writing this report. The proposed structures will be constructed of cast-in-place reinforced concrete and will have all the required facilities of first class and modern complementary medical structures.

SITE DESCRIPTION
This proposed Al-Faisaliah Site Jeddah Strategic Reservoir Project to be constructed at the property of Al-Faisaliah site in Al-Faisaliah district, Jeddah KSA. Based on the site reconnaissance, the proposed site is flat area. The surficial ground consists of Sandy materials. No electrical or telephone cables, sewer or water pipes were observed within the project area. However, electricity and water services are provided to the site. A sketch of site plan showing the location of the borings is presented in Figure No. B3. App. B.

GEOLOGICAL STUDY
Based on the information obtained from the available geological maps (Prepared by U.S Geological Survey and Arabian American Oil Company), the project area is covered by (Qu) ALLUVIUM Sand & Gravel in Wadis material with unconsolidated surficial deposits. No faults or other special geological features were observed at site. Geological site map is presented in Figure B2. App. B.
5.0 SEISMICITY AND EARTHQUAKES JEDDAH quadrangle is located on the east side of the Red Sea escarpment and forms part of large monoclinal structure that dip 1o on average to the north north east. The monotony of this structure is interrupted by system of fractures oriented parallel to the axis of Red Sea and by secondary fractures that strike north-south. For recommendations for the design requirements for this zone, the design engineer shall consult the International Codes for Seismic Loads and Forces (such as UBC). However, according to Seismic Zonation Map, Jeddah lies in zone 2A where the seismic zone factor is 0.15. Figure B3. App. B. shows the Seismic Zonation Map of the proposed project site area. A copy of the relevant page from the 1997 UNIFORM BUIDING CODE (Table 16-I Seismic Zone Factor Z & Table 16-J Soil Profile Types) is attached in Appendix D.
6.1.1 Drilling During the period from May 9th to 12th, 2013 One (1) borehole were drilled at site. Borehole was drilled to depths -30.0m below the existing ground surface. The number, depth and coordinate of borehole is given in the Figure No.1 as instructed by the notes given on the approved borehole layout and the engineer present at site. The locations of all boreholes were provided by the Client (CDM Arabia). The locations of the boreholes are also shown in Figure No. B4. The drilling was executed with Agbo(RJ-08) type drill rig, mounted on Truck, using the rotary air flush drilling method. The logs of the boreholes are presented in Appendix A. 6.1.2 Sampling from Boreholes Disturbed and representative samples were obtained using the split spoon sampler during the Standard Penetration Tests (SPT) that was performed at various depths of the boreholes. Split spoon samples were recovered from various depths below ground surface. The samples were obtained from the boreholes; the recovered samples were examined, described and classified by our geotechnical engineer, placed in proper sequence in wooden boxes and

taken to our laboratories for testing. The moist samples were placed in waterproof plastic bags before they were placed in the wooden boxes. 6.2 Field Testing in Borehole Samples
Standard Penetration Tests (SPT) was performed at various depths in all boreholes to obtain approximate relative densities of the ground materials. The tests were performed in accordance with the following specification: ASTM D 1586-99, Standard Test Method For, "Penetration Test and Split Barrel Sampling of Soils",with the use of 140 lb.hammer to recover samples in split-spoon sampler, and Cone attachment was used where necessary.
The SPT blow counts provide useful index to obtain approximate relative densities, consistencies and strength of the ground materials. The tests were performed in accordance with the ASTM D 1586-84 (1992), "Penetration Test and Split Barrel Sampling of Soils". The SPT blow counts at different depths are presented on logs of borings (Appendix A). The definition of Standard Penetration Test (SPT) and useful SPT correction are presented in the legend to borings logs, attached in App. A. Interpretation of the test results are also given in the legend. Downhole hammer was also used to advance the borings between sampling intervals. Samples retrieved inside the split spoon samplers were preserved in watertight bags properly marked with boreholes location and depth. The test results are shown on the boring logs at depths of the tests. The Standard Penetration Test (S.P.T) isdefined in the legend to boring logs, attached at the end of this report. Interpretation of the test results are also given in the legend.
6.3 Laboratory Testing In order to determine the physical and mechanical properties of the ground materials, laboratory tests were performed on selected samples from the boreholes. The following tests were performed according to American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standard and British Standard (BS) Standards, whichever is relevant: 1. ASTM D 2216-98, Standard Test Method for "Laboratory Determination of Water (Moisture) Content of Soil and Rock by Mass". 2. ASTM D 4318-00, Standard Test Method for "Liquid Limit, Plastic Limit and Plasticity Index of Soils". 3. ASTM D 422-63 (1998), Standard Test Method for "Particle-Size Analysis of Soils". 4. B.S. 1377: Part 3: 1990, clause 5 "Determination of the Sulphate Content of Soil and Ground Water". Gravimetric method for acid extracts in which Hydrochloric acid was used. 5. B.S. 1377: Part 3: 1990, clause 7.3 "Determination of Acid-Soluble Chloride Content". Nitric acid was used. 6. B.S. 1377: Part 3: 1990, clause 9 "Determination Of The pH Value". The results of all laboratory tests are summarized in all laboratory tests results are presented in Appendix C. The results of tests 1, 2 and 3 carried out on samples obtained from the boreholes are summarized in Table No. C1. Tables No. C2a and C2b contain the chemical test results of the soil samples (Tests 4, 5 and 6).

The description of the subsurface materials at the site and the approximate average depths (at which they were encountered in the borehole) and any further information about the encountered materials can be obtained from the logs of boring, Appendix A. The description of the subsurface materials at the site and their corresponding approximate average depths and any further information about the encountered materials can be obtained from the logs of boring, Appendix A.
7.2
The field and laboratory tests results as well as the corresponding material classification for the ground materials were presented in Table No. C1, Appendix C. The results obtained from the grain size analysis were presented in Appendix C and plotted on Appendix C for the Borehole, and used for material classification according to Unified Classification System and AASHTO Classification System. The tables given in the legend to boring logs, Appendix A& Appendix C were used to describe the relative densities of the soils.
7.3 Ground Water Cavities During the drilling ground water was encountered in the borehole at a depth of -2.8m below the ground level. The ground water levels are shown in Borehole logs. It should be mentioned that the ground water level may be unstable and vary with time. Based on our experience, the ground water table could be fluctuating. No cavities were encountered in any of the boreholes to the drilled depths.
Note: It should be noted that the borings show subsurface conditions at the locations, dates, and depths indicated and it is not warranted that they are strictly representative of the materials and conditions at other locations, times, and greater depths than indicated.
If ground condition substantially differs with that given in this report during construction, reevaluation of recommendations would be necessary. Foundation dynamic study was not included in the scope of our contract.
