A VILLAGE councilman and a woman believed to be his mistress were found dead in a boarding house in Barangay 21-C, Piapi along Quezon Boulevard, Davao City on Monday evening, after what sounded like an argument between the two. Chief Inspector Caezar Cabuhat, chief of Sta. Ana Police Station, identified the victims as Ryann Crisostomo Kokam, 37, councilman of Barangay 20-B, and Katherine Yu Baguio, 24, student, who was from Tagum City but was a transient resident of Block 50 in Barangay 21-C in Davao City. According to Renan Boston, 22, a stay-in employee of the Everlife Store owned by Kokam, they discovered the bodies around 11:20 p.m.

MANILA, Philippines - The Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 takes effect today, October 3, after the Supreme Court (SC) did not issue a temporary restraining order (TRO) or writ of preliminary injunction on the implementation of assailed provisions of the controversial legislation. According to well-placed ABS-CBN sources, discussions on the petitions filed against Republic Act No. 10175 and applications for the issuance of a TRO or injunctive writ were instead reset to next Tuesday's en banc session. Atty. Maria Victoria Gleoresty Sp. Guerra, acting chief of the SC Public Information Office, confirmed this later in the day. She said in a statement that the petitions "are up for further study."

AT LEAST 64 residents of Barangay Aguinaldo, Laak, Compostela Valley, were brought to the hospital for diarrhea on Friday. Laak Mayor Rey Navarro confirmed the news report in a text message Friday.

OFFICIALS of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm) are squarely behind the efforts of the Aquino administration to forge a "framework peace agreement" with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) before the end of the year, Armm Governor Mujiv Hataman assured Monday. Speaking before a general assembly at the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (Opapp) in Pasig City, Hataman said Armm officials who were appointed by President Aquino were prepared to fully support the establishment of the proposed new autonomous political entity (NPE) that was being envisioned in the peace negotiations with the MILF.
