Presumptive Drug Analysis

These reagents are commonly accepted within the scientific community as the reagents of choice for the preliminary identification of the specific substance(s), and are generally utilized as the initial part of the unknown substance analytical scheme to reduce possibilities and ultimately yield the substances true identity. Since the color tests are adaptable to field use, they are part of the accepted investigative process employed by police officers to presumptively identify controlled substances. Along with other circumstantial facts, physical appearance, odor, texture, etc., they help the police officer form the probable cause to support his suspicion that the unknown substance is controlled.

The 12-Pak Narcotic Notebook Kit was designed specifically for those departments in need of a convenient way to incorporate presumptive test kits in the field. Rather than carry these tests loose and chance accidentally breaking them, this kit is made of hard black plastic with foam cutouts for 12 individual tests. A color chart showing the proper reactions is attached to the inside cover of the case. This kit contains most common tests used for presumptively identifying drugs of abuse. The 24-Pak Narcotic Notebook Kit is an expanded version of the 12-Pak. This kit utilizes the same hard black plastic case with foam inserts and color instruction chart but includes more tests. NARK Drug Testing

The NARK is a field test kit that offers screening of the most frequently abused drugs and narcotics. Reagents are packaged in disposable tubettesa unique, easy-to-handle system. Each individual reagent is sealed in a thin, glass ampoule ensuring freshness and eliminating cross contamination with other reagents. The glass ampoules are secured in each end of the plastic tubette. The kit contains enough reagents to conduct 80 individual tests on a variety of drugs.

1. Remove the cap from the appropriate tubette and add a small quantity of suspect substance.

2. Recap tubette and crush ampoule(s) with a slight pressure between thumb and forefinger.

NARK and NARK II Narcotic Field Test Training Courses

NARK and NARKII Narcotic Field Test Training courses will acquaint students and instructors with the history of presumptive field testing, correct interpretation of colors, proper safety precautions, proper disposal techniques, and recommended evidence handling. Courses will utilize lectures, PowerPoint presentations, practical exercises, handout materials, and real-life examples for instructor/student learning and participation.

Certification Training

This 4-hour course is designed for the uniformed patrol officer or narcotic investigator with ANY level of narcotic identification experience. The goal is to develop an understanding of narcotic presumptive tests, the most commonly used tests and their correct usage in order to facilitate the identification of controlled substances and prepare the officer for court presentation.

Master Instructor Training

This 6-hour course is designed for the Department Instructor with a strong working knowledge of narcotics and preferably with the previous experience of the Certification Training Course. The goal is to train department instructors on the proper usage and handling of presumptive field tests for the purpose of instructing their own uniformed patrol officers and investigators.
