A liberal arts education (University) is necessary for entrepreneurial success.

The interest of universities to promote the "entrepreneurial spirit (Dether, 2012) of students is addressed to confront the problems of unemployment, deprivation and impoverishment of the global economy; offering practical solutions and alternatives to became productive and generate money under the context of being your own boss. As is generally known; an entrepreneur is a person who organizes and manages any enterprise; especially a business, usually with considerable initiative and risk" (Dicitionary.com). As well as characterized by combining multiple skills such as leadership, creativity, risk, security, among others, that give the necessary capacity to see an opportunity where others ones see an obstacle. But what is the key to success within the entrepreneurship field; the college or the talent? Therefore; this essay looks to determine if a liberal arts education is necessary for entrepreneurial success. Worldwide, there is an explosion of business plan competitions, marathons of entrepreneurial creativity, entrepreneur training courses and other activities to encourage entrepreneurship. When analyzing societies today, one might conclude that its development was produced because of implementing the entrepreneurial phenomenon with different characteristics of motivation, achievement and power as guidelines for effective performances within their business and contribute to its growth. In addition; the analytical projection of the phenomenon of entrepreneurship; through the various contributions that researchers have done in order to contribute to understanding and interpreting of this topic as a holistically and cultural phenomenon

(Rodrguez Ramrez, 2009) which can cause the development of any business or company which considers the society as a part of this framework. However, within the enterprise there is known risk to fail at the time of implementing our ideas. And is because of this situation that important questions are generated within the mind of the entrepreneurs like: How to avoid failure? What do I need to be a successful entrepreneur? What is the key to ensuring the success within this scope? Many answers were given about these questions; in which can be pointed out two clear trends. On the one hand there is a tendency which holds that a good college basis is needed to success. It means the conjugation of minds who have obtained degrees in the subjects from where the entrepreneurship is fed ensure the success of it. In contrast, there is another trend that ensures that not just the college studies ensure the success within the entrepreneurship; but rather an innate talent to do some activity related to this is needed to be successful. In order to support this theory; the names of successful business man and billionaires in history that have in common this feature are used as references. This is not having obtained a college degree. If we refer to the first side of the coin where are framed the successful people that have obtained a college degree. Within this circle it can be mentioned the billionaire Carlos Slim who is a graduate of National Autonomous University of Mexico obtaining a civil engineering degree. His business career began at a young age, when he began to invest in buying business, which was successfully prospered, and in the sale of real estate in downtown Mexico City.

The key, as always, is the cunning and smell to detect opportunities (emprendedoresexitosos.com). It means knowing how to exploit the crises rather than those crises take advantage of one. In the early eighties, in the middle of the famous crisis that paralyzed Mexico and historical capital flight, Slim and his group performed heavy investments in the country, acquiring several companies that were sold at very good prices. Carlos Slim and his group Carso invested intense and actively. Thus, in this period there were several investments and acquisitions, among which Cigatam which is the maker of Marlboro cigarettes. This acquisition proved to be the first and most important because of it cash flow and allowed the group to have sufficient liquidity to take advantage of opportunities that were occurring, thus expanding the purchase of major companies. During the 90s decade his group acquired the company called TELMEX (carlosslim.com) addressing its businesses to the telecommunications field. Since then he became habitual in the lists of the great fortunes of Forbes magazine

(biografiasyvidas.com), the same publication it over the top as the richest man in the world in the years 2010, 2011 and 2012; possessing a fortune of 53 billions of dollars which makes him a successful entrepreneur. Another example of successful entrepreneurship related to the liberal arts education can be found within the creation of one of the most important webpage in the internet. The founders of the biggest search engine Google (Vanessa) Sergey Brin and Larry Page; both of them with college degrees have became two of the most millionaire people around the world with a fortune of 23 billions of dollars approximately. They combined the degree

in Electrical Engineering and the Bachelor Computing and Mathematical Sciences in order to have the necessary knowledge and skills within the computing and technological science setting a clear precedent on the advantage that could represent university education within the field of entrepreneurship. In contrast to the belief mentioned before; many people have come forward without having a high school education or third level, including many not even a first-class education, which implies that the ability to read and write they were learning as time passed and depending on the needs that will they be presenting. That's why Christopher Gardner will be taken as an example of the greatest entrepreneurs worldwide. The life of this billionaire entrepreneur began when he was the second son of his family having three brothers (all from different marriages). His biological father abandoned him when he had just been born and he was an alcoholic stepfather insisted on physically abuse him throughout his childhood, which made Chris grew up in fear and frustration in their home environment. Who was his mother, Betty Jean was also a victim of such abuse by her current husband, the same that had his wife go to jail for committing Social Security fraud for working while he was getting help from the state. Chris and his siblings had to go to foster care while her mother was paying his sentence. But when Chris was eight years old his mother was sentenced again as he was charged with attempted murder for trying to burn the house are her husband inside her. Chris did not have a primary education, but while he was a teenager just attended a party school and was part of the medical corps of the U.S. Navy. It was here where he met

people with enough experience that helped him in his knowledge which later gave him work. He decided not to study medicine because I thought having to devote 10 years of his life to studying it would not be enough, since it would have to keep updated whenever the rapid progress that this has. It is for this reason that in his life he had plans to pursue other more lucrative activities. It is in this place, in the navy, where Chris met the mother of a son. As he was very excited about the idea of bringing a child into the world, but at the same time I was concerned that the economic difficulties appeared to have to keep an entire family. For this reason he had to give up being a medical assistant and went on to sell medical equipment until one day he saw a young off a Ferrari, as well as asked him what he did to have that life, this answered it was rough broker and that Chris has in mind to be devoted then. It was from that moment since when Chris was presented many times in some places as an assistant broker in order to learn a little later to cope alone. But before this, he had to go to jail because he had fulfilled the task of paying some traffic tickets. After having spent 10 days locked up in jail went home the same that was empty, his wife had left him taking their son and leaving all their belongings on the street. Sometime later it came back to let your child on the pretext that the place where she lived not accept children. Chris was not going to leave his son as his father had done to him. He decided to take charge and fight for him as best he could. At first Chris was just a bag assistant, but eventually got the experience and the knowledge to then enter contests

and get the best position of all already earning a salary with which he could spend on diapers, food and school for your child. Before all this happened where they both fell asleep at night, or even often would wake up in the offices where his son slept hiding under tables to avoid being seen. Both had to spend many needs such as hunger and cold. But after Chris got the job and won the contest was saving up to start his own brokerage at the same time I can later sell many millions of dollars, like I became a millionaire. After that Chris has been dedicated to give talks to people discouraged and helps poor people by providing education schools so they can have a future. Having had a very clear example of entrepreneurship can come to the conclusion it is not necessary to have a degree or postgraduate level in order to be a successful entrepreneur, as it rejects the hypothesis at first. This example has demonstrated very clearly that life can give the best knowledge that someone may acquire as evidenced experience as the best teacher. Carlos slims refers to the success in life defining that: Success is not economically. A person is not successful because they do well in business or professionally or obtaining 10 at the school. I think that is the least of it. What really matters is having your feet on the ground, the family - the concept of family, friends, appreciate the things that have a real value, not only material or physical.. It is not about passing something, but about of how many people believes in you; if you're happy or pretends to be. It is the balance of justice that leads to nice to have and well being. The key is about your conscience, your dignity

and your desire of becoming a person that looks not precisely having more but becoming a better person (exitoso.com.mx, 2008). However; this does not mean that someone professional can become one too, considering that everything is in the desire and the effort that a person may have to get by putting their skills and knowledge. The real key to success is how a person exploits its talents and skills which could be using the liberal arts education as an organizer of the knowledge or focusing on the most suitable way to manifest the innate talent.
