About Metroparks
Metroparks of the Toledo Area is a regional system of premier natural, historical and cultural parklands. A public agency serving Lucas County, Metroparks maintains parks and conservation areas totaling 11,000 acres. The park districts mission is to enhance our quality of life and inspire preservation efforts in this and future generations.
Hours of Operation
All Metroparks open daily, 7 a.m. until dark. Admission: Free. Other hours and fees apply to specific attractions.
Programs
Metroparks programs and activities encompass a wide variety of interests related to the park districts purpose. Programs are open to everyone. Children must be accompanied by adults unless noted as a drop-off program. If you have a disabling condition and would like information and support for accessibility to programs, services, facilities or applying for a job at Metroparks, call 419-407-9701.

Metroparks Trails
Trails in each of the Metroparks offer a variety of distances and experiences, from winding dirt paths through the woods and prairies, to hardsurface all-purpose trails suitable for bicycling and skating. Oak Openings Preserve also has horse trails.
Holiday Events
Holiday Decorations Find some inspiration for this years holiday season. Demonstrators will be on hand to demonstrate holiday table decoration ideas, center pieces, runners, holiday themes and more. All proceeds from this event support the Metroparks Volunteer Trail Patrol program. Wildwood Preserve, Ward Pavilion Wednesday, October 30, 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Free Admission Holidays in the Manor House: Runs December 7 through December 15 Ring in the holidays with one of northwest Ohios most festive traditions. For more than 30 years, volunteers have decorated the Manor House at Wildwood for all to enjoy. Stroll through the home and see why nearly 20,000 people last year made the Manor House part of their holiday celebration. Saturday, December 7- Sunday, December 15, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wildwood Preserve, Manor House Free Holiday Tea At Stranleigh Enjoy a delightful Tea at Stranleigh among the holiday splendor of the decorated Manor House. Guests will enjoy a delicious morning tea and musical entertainment, followed by a leisurely stroll through the fabulously decorated Manor House before it is opened to the public. The program is a charming way to kick off the holiday season while celebrating the 75th anniversary of the house. Side Cut Explorer Travel along the banks of the Maumee River and down the canal towpath. A naturalist highlights the scenery as passengers relax in Metroparks openair trolley. Autumn Adventure: New Oregon Parks Trail See page 16 for details. Pearson, Parking Lot #9 Sunday, October 13, 2 to 3 p.m. Free | Reservations Autumn Adventure: Coexisting With Coyotes The coyotes range has expanded to all 48 lower states, including all of northwest Ohio. Learning the behaviors of the regions top predator help us coexist with these fascinating animals. This special presentation by volunteer naturalist Randy Haar explores the coyotes many contributions to the local ecology. Birders of a Feather Become part of a bird watching flock. The group meets at different parks each month to share the enjoyment of birding. Firsttimers and experienced birders love these monthly avian explorations. Bring binoculars and field guides. Metroparks Seniors This program is accessible to anyone who loves nature, history and local parks. Canoe Programs
Maumee River Canoe Paddle Explore the Maumee River on this threemile canoe paddle. See one of northwest Ohios natural gems and get some exercise on this naturalist led excursion. For ages 11 and up. Wee Workshop (Ages 3 to 5) Wee Workshop is a handson nature experience designed to cultivate childrens love for the outdoors and includes a craft, story time and a nature walk. Register child only. Exhibits The Annual Photography Contest All Entry Exhibit continues through Saturday, October 26. Contest prints may be picked up beginning Sunday, October 27. The Owl & The Woodpecker, photo graphed by Paul Bannick Award-winning photographer, environmental conservationist and author Paul Bannick examines the intertwined life histories of owls and woodpeckersand the unique role they have played in defining and enriching their often-threatened habitats. Based on Bannicks critically acclaimed bookof the same title,The Owl & the Woodpecker: Encounters with North Americas Most Iconic Birds, the exhibitintroduces visitors to specialized species of owls and woodpeckers, illustrating why the presence of owls attests to the health of the ecosystem they inhabit, and how woodpeckers improve these same habitats for all wildlife, especially owls. Visitors also learn how they can make a difference in conserving the habitats that serve the needs of owls, woodpeckers, and the ecosystems these birds depend upon. The Owl & the Woodpecker: Photographs by Paul Bannick was organized by the Burke Museum, University of Washington, created with Paul Bannick and Braided River, a partner of the Mountaineers Books. Trees: A Photographic Celebration by Ian Adams Ohio photographer, writer and teacher Ian Adams returns to the National Center for Nature Photography with an exhibit of color prints from his latest book, Trees: A Photographic Celebration. This book, Ians 19th and the first to be self-published, includes 83 color photographs taken through the seasons in Ohio and 13 other states. The stunning photographs are paired with many of Ians favorite poems and quotations about trees.

A View From The Light: Nature Photography by Maggi Dandar Maggi Dandar lives in Curtice, Ohio and has photographed the beauty of light for more than 20 years. Through her award winning, evocative photos, Maggi captures the memory of sights that cannot be duplicated by human hands. A favorite participant in the NCNPs annual Celebrating Nature through Photography Contests, Maggi was invited to exhibit a selection of her (and our) favorite images. Fall Photo Shoots Get outdoors with your camera and enjoy the best time of year in your Metroparks. These shoots are sponsored by the National Center for Nature Photography. Join Metroparks and the Toledo Roadrunners Club for a special event under the light of the moon.Run against the clock or enjoy a walk on the 3.1 mile all purpose trail course.Some special lighting will help guide the way but flashlights and headlamps are suggested.As this is a fun event for all, there will be no official timing or scoring so go at your own pace. Behind The Scenes Canoe Adventure Metroparks members explore the tranquil waters of a beautiful lake on Metroparks property not yet open to the public.
