CASE STUDY INSTRUCTIONS

OBJECTIVE
The purpose of the exercise is to understand how building methods and materials articulate the architectural intentions of a project. In addition, the exercise will demonstrate your ability to graphically organize a set of images and technical drawings.

INSTRUCTIONS
In examining your case study, pay close attention to understanding the conceptual ideas influencing decisions related to selecting building systems, materials, and construction methods. Each of these case studies have been designed and detailed to support the architectural ideas of the project. Organize yourselves in teams and create a detailed description of your investigation and use it to select images and data that will assist you in constructing the final drawings. The drawings you choose to include in your final presentation should be carefully evaluated and selected to illustrate the architectural intentions. If drawings are not available, you may have to utilize images to extract technical information or directly contact the architect.

REQUIREMENTS
- Create a detailed description of this building exploring the building systems, elements, technology, and methods. - Describe the construction and how it relates to the architectural intent of the building. - Compile photographs of the building, create a minimum of (2) axonometric drawings of the building systems including, but not limited to primary elements, secondary elements, skin, etc. - Draw a minimum of (2) wall sections at key points in the building. - Identify a minimum of (4) key details and show how they relate to the buildings intent. - Assemble these documents on a minimum of (2) 24x36 boards. * Teams of (3) three will have to complete proportionately more work (i.e. if two axonometric drawings are required, you will have to do three, etc.).
