31-35) SIN

36-40) CONVERSION

31-35.) In my own words I define sin as a disobedience or an error in following a certain understanding of moral teaching or dogma. The extent of sin may vary from culture to culture, one religion to another, depending on their system of logical understanding. A morally unjust act may or may not be regarded as a sin depending on the people who define it. 36-40.)In my own words, conversion means a change of ways so that an individual may resemble similarities to a certain standard, just as those who they call "converted". Conversion could also mean an individual's will to be worthy of forgiveness through atonement or sacrifice.

In light of the ongoing issue about the pork barrel funds being purposely misused and thoroughly planned out on a grand scale at an immoral nature, I would just like to say that I personally believe the pork barrel fund is not a bad system of resources distribution. Handled correctly and properly the distributed money can help thousands of non-government offices as well as government offices in the implementation and maintenance of projects and facilities for the people in need. Total elimination of the pork barrel today would only balm the intensity of the pork barrel fund case as filed to Janet-Lim Napoles. It would not be enough to fully root out the corrupt system, and those who pull the strings from within will always find a way to pervert the money of the people.

As I have said it is not a bad way of cost allocation, however it is bad based on our kind of government. Our good nation has had a long history of insurgency and insurrection, used for both the good and the bad welfare of the people. It is repeatedly said that the corruption here in our country is not only deep rooted but also institutionalized. It is already a norm, a conformity that most of us are willfully ignorant of. As I have read many politicians have killed and will continue to kill for the sake of re-election and getting a share of the pork barrel. Such severity in corruption logically should not be tolerated. If this is how our politicians are driven mad by the temptations of the pork barrel, then our country would be better off not having it. Or rather, there are many ways around this that we could come up with. For one, we could extremely lessen the pork barrel being allocated every distribution. That would probably lessen the stimulus of the officials to run away with the money. It would be a good place to start, but as I have also said it would not be fully enough to root out the evil in the heart of the government. Maybe we could have a more transparent liabilities statement for all officials of the government, no excuses. By this method everyone would see exactly how the distributed money is being spent. It would be exceptional if the people would also have their say, or perhaps, their contribution in the betterment of the government, having assigned a task of watching the movement system of political assets especially with the pork barrel. All of these ideas seem to provide a good temporary remedy to the current issue of corruption we have today, but surely all of this is not enough to totally eliminate the corruption in the government. Also, even if we do get to eliminate the pork barrel distribution, it would only give us the illusion that the money is not shared away when actually the money is already on its way to the banks as we speak. We only would be played like the con artists they are. It seems that this way of living is really embedded in our lives after all.

With the issue that we have right now regarding the billions of hard earned money being heartlessly misspent, and names of accomplices and whistle blowers popping in and out every now and then, all of this is just very confusing. As a simple college student making my own way into eventual adulthood, being confronted by a social malpractice such as this is just sickening and confusing at the same time. I am at the point in my life wherein I have to make logical decisions about the norms of society and how I should react based on it, and it makes me see it as doing the wrong thing sometimes, is good. This is where institutionalized moral teaching comes in. We are taught how to decide and react intellectually and morally, with the intention of not disrespecting any person, margin of society, culture, or any god for that matter. As I conclude it the real remedy to this issue is within the politicians themselves. It is up to their individual understanding, on their intellectual and moral upbringing, on their religious and spiritual conviction, and on the deepest levels of their conscience, how they would respond to the temptations of greed and malice. Still, we too have a social responsibility, no matter how small and unimportant we are, to influence the decisions of our leaders. We could start small and set an example that all of this is not impossible. Either we help the government in being vigilant, or we conform to the norms that they believe is right. We could start a riot, or we could put our hands down and smile for the camera. We are the deciding factor, they are the respondents. What could be our next move, I wonder?
