SY 2013 2014 FIGUEROA STRATEGY


Drop-outs and failures are part of how we can measure the effectiveness of the School Improvement Plan. Zero failure and drop-out means the school realized what has been planned for the entire school year while the increasing number of it uncovers the unproductive plan for the school. The strong need to initiate strategies for zero drop-out and failures will guide the teachers. Certain strategy might help them solve the issue. Following these strategies will also lead them to establish their own technique. Strategies; F Family Engagement. In this strategy, the teacher will meet the parent/guardian. After assessing the quizzes and assignment made before the examination, the teacher will right away call for a conference or plan for a home-visit if any family member fails to come to school to discuss about the problem. I Individualized Instruction One-on-one instruction of the activities will be a friendly strategy to those who cant cope up or understand the general instruction for the entire class. Free tutorial aside from the remediation made inside the classroom will greatly lessen dropout and failure rates. G Grading Flexible The teacher will accept late assignment or project after hearing a favorable reason or cause. The teacher will then put it into writing to evaluate the number of times a child committed it. The teacher also knows the capacity of the child on a certain subject matter, if a pupil knows the lesson but failed the test, evaluate again in a more convenient way, like giving him a clear copy of the test, reading again of the instruction, etc.

U Unifying Member/Umbrella The following persons will help and find ways on how to solve the cause of drop-outs and failures.

E Early Interventions The early interventions will help the pupils recognize that they will need to focus on certain skills like writing and reading so that they will be guided all the way. This includes setting of rules and providing reinforcements like wards and prizes for every achievements made. R Regular feedback and Reinforcements Phrases that will uplift the childs morale especially in a job well done or giving reinforcement will motivate the child to achieve more. O Offer opportunities The school always sees that no one will be left behind. FOSES pupils can now experience things wherein only first section pupils before could enjoy. A Alternative School settings Speak with the parent, school counselor and/or school psychologist to see if the student's goals can be reached in the current school environment. If not, discuss options for alternative settings. Include the student in all discussions with school personnel. If parents decide to investigate alternative education settings, encourage the student to make the contacts, visits, complete forms and ask questions. He/she must see that personal responsibility is a must when being asked to be treated as an adult.
