ARE YOU READY TO FOLLOW US?

Of course, it is not easy to change your way. Try to build on what has been left behind, and move forward, in another direction, bringing with us the baggage of our own history. But you can not even think of staying on hold, parked in the second row. And then do what? For what? For how long? Choose a new road is like when the lights go down and for a moment you find yourself in the dark. You put a little but then you find a new dimension. And see again. See that there is a world out there, B O U N D L E S S, made up of millions of people, all incredibly different from each other in search of a shared language. Design is not the object, but about how people interact with that object inside the dailylife, inside of their living space. So I think if we really want to learn an international language, we have to move, change direction, go to interact, and share our baggage of history. Or at least try. CASATREND launches the project design on board+, the first editorial staff nomadic in the world, under the patronage of ADI, traveling through Europe on a mobile home designed by architects Ludovica + Roberto Palomba to go in search of international design, bringing with it the Italian design.

WIEKI SOMERS
STUDIO WIEKI SOMERS comprises designers Wieki Somers and Dylan van de Berg. Since 2003 the studio has earned an international reputation for the way its work introduces extraordinary fantasy in the most common things. Developing a deep sensitivity for materials, technological detailing and a highly demanding finish, it aims to provide an enlightened reading of our everyday environment. Through this restless experimentation with useful objects their shapes, material and meanings, the way they are made and the way they are used the studios work questions our aesthetic impulse in a subtle and often contradictory manner.

MATHIAS HAHN
Through his background in industrial design, working according to production and manufacturing processes, Mathias Hahn has a natural desire for designing towards use and functionality. Describing his process, he further referes to an intuitive approach that introduces experimental curiosity to his way of working. He pictures his work as having two sides. One is based on the idea to create objects that have a place in everyday life and solve a particular problem, the other one is more playful and related to the narrative side of the design process which often functions as a starting point. Depending on the project, these two aspects come together and form useful commodities that show a slight layer of humor, social context or even naivity. In this sense, Hahns work is a combination of playfulness as well as functional reduction towards utility.

Having gained professional experience through several projects, Pierluigi Molteni expresses his attitude towards architecture primary in residential buildings, proposing solutions that combine innovative technology, environmental sustainability and new ways of living. With the collaboration of the interior designer Fabrizio Cocchi the brand-new project of a penthaouse with amazing view has been just accomplished in his birth place. Set on the top three floors of a traditional Bologna (Italy) corner building, the property has a highly distinctive urban location with a close visual contact with the main historical and architectural features of the city.

The buildings close proximity to the baroque Church of Santa Maria della Vita lent itself to a design featuring large windows, allowing the best possible views onto the churchs imposing structure. The interior design focused on dark colours and natural materials, from the wooden floors and stone cladding to the burnished iron built-in furniture, creating a warm and welcoming refuge lightened naturally. The horizontal distribution of the various living spaces is in relation with the vertical connecting element which was redesigned to make the joins between the dwellings different levels as fluid as possible.

THE BEAUTIFUL ATMOSPHERE OF

JULES&JIM HOTEL

TEXT BY IVAN GRANOLLA

Have a look at Google Maps and youll see that Im not mistaken: rue des Gravilliers , really close to the Louvre, is a way caressed by the veil of calm that always belongs to the romantic City of Lights, but unless that someone would call flat and without relevances. At number 11, a gray building stands indifferent, and never ever would say that inside lies a secret from a lyrical, an area of calm in the heart of the cit , completely out of his plots.

In the concrete desert of Paris, the Hotel Jules&Jim is a small oasis of design in which it is worth stopping for refreshment. Three small buildings spanning two inner courtyards featuring neutral colors of the stones and stucco, as they are found in the Ardche or in our Tuscany. Next to them, two vertical gardens explode in a triumph of life overlooking a mlange of vessels arranged in order, in a marriage of man-made and wild that leaves you breathless.

The warm tones unusually Mediterranean and the presence of only twenty-three bedrooms allow guests to be followed in toto and to feel welcomed and satisfied. The bar is open to the public and furnished with minimalism, it is often the scene of artistic events, accompanied by the rhythm of a musical design conceived by Beatrice Ardisson specifically for the hotel, reflecting the fact that nothing has been left to chance. And if youre just passing through, do not despair and give yourself a break. Maybe ask for Ricardo , the bartender famous for his secret recipes and deliciously fruity. Bon sjour Paris !
