EchoLife HG520 Home Gateway
Quick Guide
Welcome to purchase the EchoLife HG520 Home Gateway device(the
HG520 for short). With your HG520, you can access the Internet using
your high-speed ADSL AP router.
This manual shows how to install your HG520.

Getting to Know
The HG520 is a kind of Internal ADSL AP router for high speed
internet access.It has a 10/100Base-T Ethernet router to provide
Internet connectivity to all computers on your LAN. It also support
IEEE 802.11g 54Mbit/s Access Point.
Rear Panel
The rear panel provides ports for the HG520 to receive/send data and
get power supply..

Label Function

SW Power Button. Switches the device on and off

DC-IN Connects to the power adapter cable

RST Press the reset button for 2 seconds the HG520


will be restarted (rebooted). To reset to default
settings, turn off the device first. Hold the Reset
button and then turn on the device; wait for 5~8
seconds and then release the button. Resets
device’s configuration to factory default

LAN1-4 RJ-45 connector: connects the device to your


computer's Ethernet port, or to the uplink port on
your LAN's hub, using the cable provided.

DSL RJ-11 connector: connects the device to a


telephone jack using the supplied cable

Front Panel
The front panel provides LED indicators to indicate the device status.

Before Installation
The HG520 is used indoors only. Pay attention to the following when
installing and using the HG520.

Cleaning
Before cleaning the HG520, cut off the power supply.
Clean it using a piece of soft cloth. Do not use liquid or gas solution.

Power supply
• Use the power adapter delivered with the HG520.
• The voltage of the power supply shall meet the requirement of the
input voltage of the power adapter.
• In the case of thundering, unplug the power adapter;If the HG520
is not in use for a long time, unplug the power adapter.
• Do not open the cover of the HG520.

Connecting the HG520


You need to connect the device to the phone jack, the power outlet,
and your computer or network.

Before cable connection, turn off power of your


computer(s),LAN/hub/switch (if applicable),and the HG520.

Step1 Connect the ADSL line


Method one: Plug one end of the twisted-pair ADSL cable into the
ADSL port on the rear panel of HG520 and insert the other end into the
wall socket.
Method two: You can use a separate splitter. External splitter can
divide the data and voice, then you can access the Internet and make
calls at the same time.The external splitter has three ports:
• LINE: connect to the wall jack
• PHONE: connect to the phone sets
• MODEM: connect the ADSL port of HG520
Plug one end of the twisted-pair ADSL cable into the ADSL port on the
rear panel of HG520. Connect the other end to the MODEM port of the
external splitter.

Note: Although you use the same type of cable, ADSL and
PHONE ports are not interchangeable. Do not route
the ADSL connection through the PHONE port.
Setp2 Connect the Ethernet cable
Attach one end of a provided network cable to a regular hub port and
the other to the Ethernet port on the HG520.
Step3 Attach the power adapter
Connect the AC power adapter to the PWR connector on the rear of
the device and plug in the adapter to a wall outlet or power extension.
Step4 Turn on the HG520 and power up computers and LAN
devices
Press the power switch on the rear panel of the device to the ON
position.
Turn on and boot up your computer(s) and any LAN devices such as
hubs or switches.
