ARCHITECTURE: VIRTUAL FIELDTRIP

TROY L. FOSTER MUSKEGON AREA CAREER TECH CENTER PURPOSE: These questions and activities require students to look closely at specific designs as a starting point for developing an understanding of architecture as it is often considered to be an art form and an important expression of human culture. As you can identify who painted a picture by recognizing the style of the artist, you can often recognize the work of a particular architect. The work of Richard Meier has been called neo-Modernist. Meier has said that some of his influences include Frank Lloyd Wright and the work of Los Angeles architects Rudolf Schindler, Richard Neutra, and Irving Gill. Using the following interactive link, analyze several buildings designed by Meier and the architects who work with him: http://www.richardmeier.com/www/#/projects/architecture/type/residential/1/ http://www.richardmeier.com/

Frank Lloyd Wright

this activity continues the understanding of architecture as it relates architecture to nature so that buildings, walls, and structures are extensions of the exterior world by blending them into the natural landscape. Using the following interactive link, take a virtual tour of Fallingwater designed in 1936 by architect Frank Lloyd Wright:
