Obey the Messenger is not unique in the Quran as well as its not unique as being attributed to the Prophet

Muhammad.

Muslims who follows the alleged Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad assumes that when Allah says Obey the Messenger this translates to mean Obey Muhammad or Obey Hadith. This is not what Obey the Messenger means at all in fact we have a similar expression in the Tawrah when Allah says to Obey my voice to the Children of Israel throughout the Tawrah. See, the Quran tells us to also refer back to the Tawrah. The Quran is a confirmation of what is in the hands of Ahlul Kitab. In order for us to better understand Obey the Messenger the best way for us to get the understanding is to refer back to the Tawrah that was here before the Quran.
So

if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you todayto love Yahuah your Elohim and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul. Deuteronomy 11:13

Now what is the definition of obeying the Messenger according to the Tawrah?
Be

sure to keep the commands of Yahuah your Elohim and the stipulations and decrees he has given you. Deuteronomy 6:17

Abraham obeyed the Most High by doing everything he was commanded and by keeping the decrees and instructions of the Most High:
because Abraham obeyed me and did everything I required of him, keeping my commands, my decrees and my instructions. Genesis 26:5 Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They responded, We will do everything Yahuah has said; we will obey. Exodus 24:7

When Moses brought the Tawrah the Children of Israel had to obey the Messenger who was Moses who brought the Tawrah:
"Now therefore, if ye will obey me fully indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine...." Exodus 19:5

Obeying the Messenger is to pay attention to the Messenger and to listen to what the Messenger has to say, not rebelling against him:
"Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him.." Exodus 23:21 " It is Yahuah your Elohim you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him. Deuteronomy 13:4 " Obey Yahuah your Elohim and follow his commands and decrees that I give you today." Deuteronomy 27:10 " and when you and your children return to Yahuah your Elohim and obey him with all your heart and with all your soul according to everything I command you today. Deuteronomy 30:2

Moses was a Messenger of the Most High was to be obeyed and Joshua:
Just as we fully obeyed Moses, so we will obey you. Only may Yahuah your Elohim be with you as he was with Moses. Joshua 1:17

The Most High looked at the Children of Israel as His sheep:

For thus saith Yahuah Elohim; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out. Ezekiel 34:11 Then he took the covenant scroll and read it out loud for the people to hear. They responded, Everything that the Lord has said we will do, and we will obey. Exodus 24:7 If by accident you dont obey all these commands that Yahweh spoke to Moses Numbers 15:22 Obey Yahuah your Elohim = following what He commanded that day (at Mount Sinai).

Obeying the Messenger means to walk in obedience to the commandments, the decrees and instructions of the Most High:
" but I gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your Elohim and you will be my people. Walk in obedience to all I command you, that it may go well with you.." Jeremiah 7:23 " the terms I commanded your ancestors when I brought them out of Egypt, out of the iron-smelting furnace. I said, Obey me and do everything I command you, and you will be my people, and I will be your Elohim." Jeremiah 11:4 " From the time I brought your ancestors up from Egypt until today, I warned them again and again, saying, Obey me." Jeremiah 11:7 YAHUAH PLEADED = OBEY ME = FOLLOW TAWRAH NOT OBEYING ME = NOT FOLLOWING TAWRAH

Obeying the Messenger means to obey the laws and being careful to follow the Most Highs decrees:
You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am Yahuah your Elohim. Keep my decrees and laws, for the person who obeys them will live by them. I am Yahuah. Leviticus 18:4-5

3|Page

Follow my decrees and be careful to obey my laws, and you will live safely in the land. Leviticus 25:18 If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands Leviticus 26:3 At the Yahuahs command they encamped, and at Yahuahs command they set out. They obeyed Yahuahs order, in accordance with his command through Moses. Numbers 9:23

Obeying the Messenger means to obey him with all your heat and with all your soul according to everything the Messenger commands:
and when you and your children return to Yahuah your Elohim and obey him with all your heart and with all your soul according to everything I command you today Deuteronomy 30:2 Tell them that this is what Yahuah, the Elohim of Israel, says: Cursed is the one who does not obey the terms of this covenant Jeremiah 11:3 Also in the Hebrew Scriptures we have the same exact expression about obeying the Messenger, and the words of the Messenger are the 'Words of the Most High' so obeying the Messenger means to keep the commandments, his regulations and his case laws along with doing what is right. Ezekiel 34:31 And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men, and I am your Elohim, saith Yahuah your Elohim. For thus saith Yahuah Elohim; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out. Ezekiel 34:11 Then he took the covenant scroll and read it out loud for the people to hear. They responded, Everything that the Lord has said we will do, and we will obey. Exodus 24:7 If by accident you dont obey all these commands that Yahweh spoke to Moses Numbers 15:22 You must follow Yahuah your Elohim alone! Revere him! Follow his commandments! Obey his voice! Worship him! Cling to himno other! Deuteronomy 13:4

How do we obey the Messenger, by keeping all His Commandments?

You must definitely obey Yahuah your Elohims voice, keeping all his commandments that I am giving you right now, by doing what is right in Yahuah your Elohims eyes! Deuteronomy 13:18 The Children of Israel were told to obey Yahuah by keeping all his commandments that were given to them by Yahuahs Messenger, Moses. One of the reasons the Children of Israel were cursed is because they didnt obey the Messenger by keeping His commanmdents and His regulations the messenger gave: Thats how all these curses will come over you, pursuing you, reaching you until you are completely wiped out, because you didnt obey Yahuah your Elohims voice by keeping his commandments and his regulations that he gave you. Deuteronomy 28:45 and because you will be obeying Yahuah your Elohims voice, keeping his commandments and his regulations that are written in this Instruction scroll, and because you will have returned to Yahuah your Elohim with all your heart and all your being. Deuteronomy 30:10 If you obey Yahuah your Elohims commandments that Im commanding you right now by loving Yahuah your Elohim, by walking in his ways, and by keeping his commandments, his regulations, and his case laws, then you will live and thrive, and Yahuah your Elohim will bless you in the land you are entering to possess. Deuteronomy 30:16 Be very brave and strong as you carefully obey all of the Instruction that Moses my servant commanded you. Dont deviate even a bit from it, either to the right or left. Then you will have success wherever you go. Joshua 1:7 Never stop speaking about this Instruction scroll. Recite it day and night so you can carefully obey everything written in it. Then you will accomplish your objectives and you will succeed. Joshua 1:8

In the Qur'an Allah says about Obeying the Messenger

And when Isa brought bil-bayinti (clear proofs), he said, "I have come to you bilik'mati (with wisdom) wali-ubayyina (and to make clear) to you some of that over which you differ, so fear Allah wa-ani (and obey me). Sura 43/63 "O Isa! I will take thee and raise thee to Myself and clear thee (of the falsehoods) of those who blaspheme; I will make those who ittabaka (FOLLOWED YOU) superior to those who reject Faith, to the Day of Resurrection; then shall ye all return unto Me, and I will judge between you of the matters wherein ye dispute. Sura 3/55 The question that needs to be asked is how did the followers of Isa ibn Maryam follow Isa? Was it through what was revealed to him as well, Al Kitab, Al Hikmata (the Wisdom), the Injil? Was it also through some outside books not mentioned called Hadith and Sunnah of Isa ibn Maryam? Now this is the same exact thing the Prophet Muhammad brought and he himself had to obey Allah's WORDS and FOLLOW that which was revealed to him which was the Qur'an: O you nabiyu (prophet), you shall ittaqi (reverence) Allah and do not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites. Allah is Omniscient, Most Wise. wa-ittabi (AND FOLLOW) what is y (REVEALED) to you from your Lord. Allah is fully Cognizant of everything you all do. And put your trust in Allah. Sura 33/1-3 Allah is instructing the Prophet Muhammad to " wa-ittabi (And FOLLOW) what is y (revealed) to you from your Lord." As the Tawrah instructs us to obey Yahuah voice, which is the Most Highs Words spoken by the Messenger and keeping His commandments, regulations that are written in the Instruction scroll. Also, our hearts and our being have to be in unison. and because you will be obeying Yahuah your Elohims voice, keeping his commandments and his regulations that are written in this Instruction scroll, and because you will have returned to Yahuah your Elohim with all your heart and all your being. Deuteronomy 30:10

Hence, as the book of Allah is being recited, the messenger is present among us, and whoever holds fast to Allah and His book, Allah has guided him to the Straight Path. This remains valid at any time, and in any place so long as the Quran is preserved; and it will remain preserved and will serve as a proof for the creation till the rising of the Hour. The word messenger in some Quranic verses signifies the Quran itself with the utmost clarity: Anyone who gives up his home, emigrating to Allah and His messenger, then death catches up with him, his recompense is reserved with Allah. Sura 4/100 This verse sets out a general and continually-applicable law, which remains applicable even after the death of the Prophet. If we truly study this ayat we will see emigration for the sake of Allah and His messenger i.e. the Quran continues to be possible even after the death of the Prophet, so long as the Quran / the Reminder / the Message remains. Sometimes, the word messenger can only signify the Quran specifically without any other meaning: That you people may believe in Allah waraslihi (and His messenger), watuazzirhu (and reverence Him), watuwaqqirhu (and respect Him), watusabbihu (and glorify Him), day and night. Sura 48/9 The word messenger here signifies the word of Allah only, and does not signify the Prophet Muhammad as the messenger at all. The proof for this is that the pronoun which is suffixed to the word messenger occurs in singular form, thus Allah says watuazzirhu (and reverence Him), watuwaqqirhu (and respect Him), watusabbihu (and glorify Him). The use of the singular pronoun means that Allah and His messenger (the Reminder / His words) are not two separate entities rather; they are one and the same thing, for He did not say and reverence them both, and observe them both, and glorify them both, day and night.

Similar to the Tawrah when the Children of Israel were told to Revere the Most High and by following His commandments: You shall walk after Yahuah your Elohim, tira'u (and Him you must revere), and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and you shall serve him, and cling to him.! Deuteronomy 13:4 Glorification is due only to Allah, alone. And there is no difference between Allah and His words, for Allah is one in His essence and in His attributes, Proclaim, He is the One and only Allah Sura 112/1 They swear by Allah to you, to please you, when Allah and His messenger are more worthy of pleasing Sura 9/62 If the messenger in this verse signifies the prophet Muhammad, He would have said are both more worthy of pleasing. However, the messenger here signifies the word of Allah only, which is why Allah and His messenger are referred to in the singular, which means Allah and His words. So, the prophet is Muhammad, the man, in his private and public life. As for the messenger, he is the prophet when he utters wahyun Revelation hence the Quran and delivers the message: O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. And Allah will protect you from the people. Indeed, Allah does not guide the disbelieving people. Sura 5/67 Whenever Allah orders the prophet to follow the revelation, Allah orders us all to obey Allah and the messenger, i.e. the message never the prophet. There isnt a single instance in the Quran where Allah says: the sole duty of the prophet is to deliver the message, rather, Allah says The sole duty of the messenger is to deliver the message Sura 5/99 And obey Allah and obey the Messenger and beware. Then, truly, if you turned away,
8|Page

then, know that only on Our Messenger is the delivering of Our clear message. Sura 5/92 but if they turn away, your sole mission is to deliver this message Sura 3/20 Therefore, delivering the message is associated with the message, just as the prophet is associated with the human side of the messenger in his life, his conditions, and his relations. The Quranic rule regarding this subject is always to limit the role and importance of the messenger to merely delivering the message. This is to emphasize that it is the "message" of Allah that is to be obeyed and not the personal words or views of the messenger. Again, the word Messenger is derived from the word Message and if there was no message there would be no messenger. Hence, to Obey the Messenger means to obey the message he delivered. In the Quran we are told clearly that the purpose of the Messenger is to deliver the message and for them to be obeyed. They say 'Obey the Messenger' means to 'Obey Muhammad's Speech/Hadith' also contained in the Hadith books of Sahih Bukhari/Muslim and company. Now what does the Qur'an say about this matter is the question we should be asking. A messenger perhaps any messenger must have a message to be a messenger, hence, when you call someone a "messenger" you are directly linking them to the message, no ifs or buts about it. Allah says : He who yutii (obeys) the Messenger, aa (obeyed)Allah. But if any turn away, We have not sent thee to watch over their (evil deeds). Surah 4/80 Now lets examine the usage of the Arabic word yuii (obeys) in the Quran for further clarity of the matter and how its used. Allah says, The Messenger believeth in what hath been revealed to him from his Lord, as do the men of faith. Each one (of them) believeth in Allah, His angels, His books, and His apostles. "We make no distinction (they say) between one and another of His apostles."

And they say: "We hear,wa-aan (and we obeyed): (We seek) Thy forgiveness, our Lord, and to Thee is the end of all journeys." Surah 2:285 Remember also the expression Obey the Messenger isnt unique and exclusive again just for the Prophet Muhammad. As I have demonstrated with other expressions such as Uswatun Hasana/Excellent Example is used for Prophet Ibrahim He who yutii (obeys) the Messenger, aa (obeyed) Allah This is not a unique expression for the Prophet Muhammad, thus it is for all of the Prophets of Allah: In Surah 26:108, Allah tells us to OBEY Prophet Noah, "So fear Allah, wa-ani (and obey me)" Also in Surah 71:3, Noah said, That ye should worship Allah, fear Him wa-ani (and obey me) Allah tells us to OBEY Prophet Hud in Surah 26:126 So fear Allah, wa-ani (and obey me) Allah tells us to OBEY Prophet Saaleh in Surah 26:144 fear Allah, wa-ani (and obey me) and in Surah 26:150 fear Allah, wa-ani (and obey me) Allah tells us to OBEY Prophet LOT in Surah 26:163 You shall fear Allah waani(and obey me). Allah tells us to OBEY Prophet Shuaib in Surah 26:179 fear Allah wa-ani (and obey me) Allah tells us to OBEY Prophet Isa in Surah 43:63 When Isa came with Clear Signs, he said: "Now have I come to you with Wisdom, and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) on which ye dispute: therefore fear Allah wa-ani (and obey me). Now we have to ask ourselves does Allah say that it was only the Prophet Muhammad as a Messenger of Allah was supposed to be followed. Of course not, all of the messengers were sent to be obeyed as the Quran tells us. Now compare what the Prophet Muhammad was instructed to say: "And wa-a (obey) Allah and wa-a (obey) the messenger and be cautious; but if you turn back, then know that the sole duty of the messenger is the deliverance (of the message)" Surah 5:92
10 | P a g e

"And wa-a (obey) Allah wa-a (and obey) the messenger, but if you turn back, then upon Our messenger is the sole duty of the clear delivery (of the message)" 64:12 Whoever yuii (obeys) Allah and his Messenger will be admitted to gardens beneath which rivers flow to live there (forever), and that will be the great achievement (Surah An-Nisa 4:13) In Surah 3:132 wa-a (and obey) Allah and the Messenger; that ye may obtain mercy. In Surah 47:33 Allah says, O ye who believe! wa-a (obey) Allah and wa-a (obey) the Messenger, and make not vain your deeds! Now if you research the word Messenger, is derived from the word Message. The duty of a Messenger is to deliver a Message. Now if there was no message there would be no messenger. Hence, to Obey the Messenger would thus mean to obey the message he is delivering. Further research will make it clear in the Quran that in the Book of Allah we never read anywhere in the Quran words like "Obey Allah and obey Muhammad" or obey Isa, or obey Moses as I have shown earlier. "Obey the messenger" and never does Allah say to obey the Prophet This is to emphasize that it is the "message" of Allah that is to be obeyed and not the personal words or views of the messenger. Again, the word Messenger is derived from the word Message and if there was no message there would be no messenger. Hence, to Obey the Messenger means to obey the message he delivered. In the Quran we are told clearly that the purpose of the Messenger is to deliver the message and for them to be obeyed. Allah says: "And warn nsa of a day when the doom will come upon them, and those who did wrong will say: Our Lord! Reprieve us for a little while. nujib (We will answer) dawataka (Your call) wanattabii (AND WE WILL FOLLOW) rusula (the messengers). (It will be answered): Did ye not swear before that there would be no end for you?" Surah 14/44

These ayats above says it clearly that all of Allahs Messengers were to be obeyed by Allahs Permission even Prophet Muhammad. Did all of Allahs Messengers come with their own Hadith and Sunnah books outside of having Al Kitab. Again, referring back to the Hebrew Scriptures when we see Obey the Messenger this means to obey the Messenger in what he commands from the Book of Allah and this will lead to success. If they obey and serve him, they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity and their years in contentment. Job 36:11 For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in Elohims sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. Romans 2:13 In the Gospel, Yahshua / Isa ibn Maryam gave a test of Knowing Him Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, I know Him, and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of Elohim is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. 1 John 2:3-6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as you have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. 2 John 1:6 Yahshua replied, If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. John 14:23-24 With my whole heart have I sought you: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Psalm 119:10 One of the key factors is being submissive to the commandments of Allah conveyed to us by Allahs Messengers. Allah says in the Quran to obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority. However, the authority has to be righteous and just authority. Allah says, O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger, and those of you who are in authority. (And) if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allah and His
12 | P a g e

Messenger , if you believe in Allah and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination. Sura 4/59

The Bible says something similar:

Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, They are not to insult anyone or be argumentative. Instead, they are to be gentle and perfectly courteous to everyone. Indeed, we, too, were once stupid, disobedient, and misled. We were slaves to many kinds of lusts and pleasures. We were mean and jealous. We were hated, and we hated each other. Titus 3:1-3

Another part of keeping His commandments, following what was revealed to the Messenger is to keep His way:
Wait for Yahuah and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land; you will look on when the wicked are cut off. Psalm 37:34 My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Proverbs 3:1-2 In Proverbs, we are told to trust in the Most High with our hearts and not to depend on our own understanding. Regardless, we are told to acknowledge the Most High and if these conditions are met, the Most High will guide us to a straight path. Trust in Yahuah with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 The Quran confirms: So, as for those who believed in Allah and held fast to Him, He will admit them to His Mercy and Grace, and guide them to Himself by the Straight Path. Sura 4/175 In most of the above evidence from the Tawrah and the Hebrew Scriptures down to the Quran we are told to Obey the Messenger and this is only obeying the message delivered by the Messenger. The only way to experience all that Allah has for us is to walk in complete obedience to His commandments, laws, ways, decrees, ordinances, instructions Then we can be sure not to miss any good thing He desires for our lives. Obedience always brings blessing. Allah is not telling us to look outside of the Book of Allah such as the Tawrah or the Quran in order to obey the Messenger.

13 | P a g e

Allah is not telling us to look to Mishnah Talmudic Hadith that came later after the Tawrah was given to Moses to be conveyed to the Children of Israel. Allah is not telling us to look to Hadith and Sunnah books that came later by Sahih Bukhari and company. When we dont obey the Messenger which is obeying the message conveyed afflictions will come. "It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes Psalm 119:71 Some of the main reasons why Allah chastises us is because we refuse to be obedient to the Book of Allah as did the Children of Israel before, a group of them were cursed because of their disobedience. The Muslim Ummah is being afflicted because of the abandonment of the Quran. And the Messenger has said, "O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Qur'an as [a thing] abandoned." Sura 25/50 Now all throughout the Tawrah and in the Quran, when Allah decrees a law or prohibition, Allah precedes the commandment by calling to the believers, or to the the Children of Israel, Ahlul Kitab (the People of the book), or sometimes in general to humanity in general. He starts the injunction with either "Ya aayahul 'alaytheena amanu" (Oh you who believe), or "Ya ahl il-kitab", or "Ya Nas" and nowhere, in the Quran does Allah ever issue a decree to the believers, or to the followers of the scripture, or to man in general to follow Hadith or follow the Sunnh of Muhammad. If it is so important, if it is absolutely necessary for our salvation and guidance, if we are in need of it for our guidance, and Allah is Just and All Knowing, had Allah decreed that the believers follow hadith and sunnah, Allah would have decreed for us to do so in the CLEAR and LAW-GIVING verses which address the believers and followers of the scripture / Children of Israel. However, none of Allah's decrees, commandments, laws, instructions, ordinances and prohibitions are ambiguous, in the form of riddles and left to us to guess and figure it out. Moreover, NOWHERE in the Tawrah is the word hadith or sunnah attached to the word prophet attributing it to Musa or prophet Muhammad. Also, the same came be said about the word messenger. And ALL of these words are mentioned in the Quran numerous times, but NEVER together or in connection to each other. And nowhere in the Tawrah or in the Quran does Allah ever say "Oh you who believe, you must
14 | P a g e

establish the sunna and follow the hadith", or "Oh followers of the scripture, you must establish the sunna and follow hadith" and neither does Allah say follow the hadith and sunnah of Moses or Muhammad, or of the prophets, or of the messengers. Unless the commandment can be pointed out in the Quran for believers to follow hadith and sunnah, the believers of the Mishnah Talmdic Hadith and the believers of the books of Bukhari and company HAVE NO ARGUMENT!! Anything that they try come up with concerning the super-human memories of the narrators, their honesty, isnaad, science of hadith, etc. are 100% moot. This completely makes NULL and VOID the entire hadith and sunnah doctrine. Unless, of course, someone can point out the "LAW" or "COMMANDMENT" of establishing hadith and sunnah in the mukhamat (Law-Giving) verses of the Tawrah and the Quran.
