Home renovation project. I joined Julian Arendt and associates midway through the project, to help develop the design drawings for tendering purposes as well as construction draw ings. Through the decision making process we developed presentation materials like models and renderings to explain to the client, the ideas we were implementing on the project. One of the main features of the project was a modern glazing canopy that would bring light down to the kitchen and the new basement extension.

Working alongside the clients interior designer, drawings were made for the bathroom, kitchen and dressing room. During this teamwork effort, decisions had to be shown to the client in a clear and concise manner. Bathroom and kitchen schedules were specified to be ap proved by the client. Understanding the compromises and needs of the client was a must. Technical drawings for the different contractors were made in order to arrive to the second stage of the tender. Clear renders of the project were also de veloped to gain client final approval on design as well as chosen materials.

Developed with Julian Arendt Associates and MDR Associ ates, we were invited to pitch in a Mews renovation project in London. A brief with the requirements was provided and images of their current home, where they showed particular interest in a steel staircase that connected the floors and acted as a sculptural element at the same time. So the main design concept came from making the staircase the main element in our design, whilst not giving it all away, giving a sense of discovery through out the house. As well as lowering the basement floor to include a home cin ema and a large family room with high ceiling and large book shelves. Seeing they had a large art collection we provided the spaces with spaces to showcase this as well. After developing a 3D model to verify the staircase proposed worked, allowing sufficient headroom and as a formal analy sis, We proceeded to add textures and elements to sell our project to the client.

Lighting design project with Thierry Jeannot, for an event planning company, leader in Latin American. Asked to develop an installation and Illumination Project for one of the biggest music festivals in Mexico City. Up to 80,000 visitors during a two day period, would visit from 9:00am - close to 1:00am. Hence the need for illumination. We were asked to cover the lighting aspects in the entrances and exits. Giving the company a green and socially responsible image through the use of recycled bottles and art.

Master Plan Originally we were going to cover over 5km of lighting and up to 5 sculptures. At the end we covered 3Km with two different light designs.

Centre piece drawing for laser cut Using Thierrys design, a 12cm icosahedron. Drawings were developed for 22 Calibre steel sheet cut out using CNC laser cutter, leaving space for electrical cable and energy saving light bulb. Then I proceeded to find a manufacturer for the centre piece. Where they would be cut, folded and welded by hand. Finished in a white powder coat.

In an effort to stay up to date with the trends and as recycling is starting to pick up in Mex ico, the client asked us to introduce this to the festival. Working together with one of their biggest sponsors, Coca Cola who wanted to promote the use of their product after its been used. Rapid 3d prototyping was developed for presentations to gain Coca Colas funding and re ctu recollection campaigns u r St f o r used bottles.

Marion Friedmann Gallery

After working with Thierry Jeannot in Mexico, I was asked to work on the recollections exhibition that would take place during the London design festival. My responsibilities were to restore and create a transport method for a big chandelier (made entirely of recycled plastic bottles). As well as to assist in the exhibition with the lighting design as well as the layout of the pieces. On site problem solving was a key skill developed whilst working with Marion Friedman.

Projects Caen | Planning application renderings

The local council of Caen asked for a canopy to be installed on the access courtyard to protect the users. This was for a residential building reaching the final stages of Tender and nearly starting construction. In an attempt to show that enough cover was already provided, I was asked to develop some realistic renders that would show the finished building. This helped the planners come with a positive decision to leave the project as it was, to maintain the open character of the building.

Most of the work was developed on sketchup for quick design decisionmaking. As well as liaising with planners and the head architect of the project. The different areas were coming together to be able to send the project to tender. The project was made up of five different building types to suit a large variety of needs, from economical to accessibility. This proved challenging, especially on such a short time frame.

A quick 3D prototyping method was used to settle on a design. From form to colour scheme, the renders were allowing an easier communication between the different studios, also helping to explain the ideas in a more clear and concise way to all the stakeholders. From 2D drawings developed alongside Phillipe Ma dec studio, we would procede to develop the sketchup models used in the meetings to arrive to a final design solution. Once this was decided, different materials and colour schemes were developed to present to plan ners and stakeholders.

| Academic Work

The site was to be treated as the Aztecs had treated it before, as a sacred place. A noninvasive strategy was adopted to develop a building that could blend into the context, at the same time being an example of modern fluid architecture. Open space was an important aspect to be introduced to the space, an important prehispanic architectural element. biodiversit Pathways around the aquarium building itself would act as catwalks floating off the ground y in an effort to protect the biodiversity and soil, whilst immersing the user into the landscape. Rainfall was to be collected and treated for use in the aquarium. As well as re flooding the site to create man made lakes surrounding Imm the building, making it appear as ersed in Na ture a floating element.

The yearly Capdevielle competition for students of the Jorge Gozales Reyna studio parto of the architecture faculty, Gets students from the different learning stages to work together for two weeks on a project. On this occasion compe tition of analysing a poem and designing a shelter. We came up with an ephemeral personal shelter to isolate people from the chaos of Mexico city, using a folding architecture approach.

Infrastructure design for small town in Mexico
Whilst analysing the site to understand the needs of a market, a new requirement came up. Being in a very dry area, the canopy had to harvest rainwater. This could be used to improve the hygiene aspects of the food preparation. Umbrella structures were very common in Mexico around the 70s, These not only provide the necessary shade and protection from the elements, they also allow for the important cross ventilation. These were chosen as they worked almost naturally with the concept of the tianguis. Not only for the space quality on the inside, but the formal quality and colour it could add to the town of Zacatelco. This project was selected to be presented to the local council and planners.

Ground floor plan

Mexico is a large country with enormous social and geographical differences. Its cities are a clear expression of those differences. This formal, spatial and social diversity, is difficult to represent in a pavilion building. For this reason we sought a common element in almost all Mexican cities, a presence that had remained throughout history and is likely to remain in the years to come, something that represents an essence of the Mexican city. This finding appears in the TIANGUIS (Street Markets)., a way to trade that was already present in ancient Mexico and whose components remain the same today. A street is temporarily invaded by the TIANGUIS, transforming the space and urban life. The TIANGUIS is in turn a structure for retail spaces and chaos in the improvisation of each seller. This appropriation of space in the streets is protected by the same architecture of the place.

From this we propose the presence of the TIANGUIS becomes apparent in the pavilion: In the outer (street) lobby and free entry spaces, such as shop, business centre, staff offices and consultation & information area. Buildings of great dynamic formality are confined by the volumes of the exhibition buildings and the restaurant. Just as the houses of a neighbourhood surround a TIANGUIS, that for years has been setting up in the same location.

Mezzanine plan

The exhibition areas constructed of steel parts assembled to form a lightweight structure. Linking The envelope of these buildings will comprised of double layer structure; the inside built with drywall panels and the outside skin cladded with prefabricated wood structures treated with fire retardants . This outer skin has a particular interest linking the presence of a TIANGUIS , because of the use of the HUACALES (wooden crates used in the transport of goods). Creating prefabricated 2.50 x 3.00m panels of huacales, for ease of installation. The presence of these crates will be accentuated at night with the use of LED light sources from behind them. Between the Tianguis space and exhibition buildings, a restaurant showing off Mexican cuisine, will be housed in a lightweight structure whose glass faade will be fixed on the metal structure. Finished with a printed film coating, with patterns from the traditional papel picado (Traditional Mexican craft ornament used in Mexican festivities). Next to the pre-Hispanic room, the VIP lounge is located on top of a body of water connected by bridges to the main exhibition area, built in steel and glass in a very modern style. The general principle the exhibition design, is a gradual process of densification of the material presented, ranging from a minimalistic pre-Hispanic exhibit in the to a cluttered twentieth century exhibition, referring to the information saturation nowadays.

They describe the actions that lead to radically reducing the use of private transport, to replace it with a collective, safe, comfortable , efficient and affordable transport for everyone. It will also emphasise the biodiversity our country has to offer and its necessary preservation.
