Conducted project work involving PLC & HMI programming, product development, quality improvements, and cost savings. Provided product management functions and technical support. Developed technical manuals and instructions. Performed engineering inspection of pump stations. Developed custom control system designs for customers such as Caltrans (California DOT), San Diego Unified School District, and various golf courses, municipalities and commercial sites. Developed product platform that facilitated standardization of designs and features allowing prefabrication of parts as well as streamlining of drawing, quotation and engineering processes.

Operations Manager for industrial electronics repair company. Responsible for managing staff of 11 technicians and support personnel to achieve over $150,000 / month in repairs. Products repaired include PLCs, industrial monitors, AC, DC, and servo drives, and various hydraulic components. Facility was closed due to corporate consolidation.

ALBANY INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION, LAWRENCEVILLE, GEORGIA

1994-2007

Electrical Engineer for high performance industrial door system manufacturer. Responsible for control / drive system design including controller programming (PLC, HMI, VFD), panel layout, component evaluation, system testing, and automation of engineering tasks. Managed UL-508A certification requirements. Also provided technical interface with all departments, and handled unsolved field service issues. Developed custom controls to meet plant electrical specifications for clients including Boeing, GM, Ford, BMW, U.S. Navy, Lockheed Martin, and Fuji. Some applications included explosionproof, and intrinsically safe circuits. Translated designs and programmed MRP systems to produce controls for 3 other companies spanning 8 different products. Translation took less than 3 months for each company. Designs included contactor, inverter, and hydraulic powered drives. Performed mechanical design basis reviews of motor/drive sizing including load calculations.

SEMTRONICS CORPORATION, PEACHTREE CITY, GEORGIA

1992-1994

Senior Engineer for company producing electronic static control equipment. Main duties involved electronic and mechanical design of new products, management of design team, and technical support to production operations. Conducted research into environmental effects on ionization system performance. Provided customer interface and troubleshooting support. Developed two new successful ionization systems. Product design included electronic controller design, mechanical housing design, testing & validation, manufacturing process development and manuals / documentation.

Resolved what had been a recurring problem with room ionization systems installed in cleanrooms at IBM -- Havant, England. Produced a failure analysis report for IBM. They were pleased with our response and proceeded with another six-figure order.

ITI - MOVATS, INCORPORATED, ATLANTA, GEORGIA

1990-1992

Field Engineer in Diagnostic Services Department for subsidiary of Westinghouse Nuclear Division. Supervised personnel and provided field testing of motor operated valves at nuclear installations utilizing custom computer data acquisition systems. Development team member for new data acquisition system. Discovered and documented new type of motor operated valve mechanical degradation. Produced a report that allowed our customer to understand and eliminate the problem. Solved electrical design problems that improved capabilities of data acquisition system. Resulted in 200% system expansion and significant savings in redevelopment and consulting costs.

U.S. ARMY/NATIONAL GUARD, CLINTON/CEDAR RAPIDS, IA

1984-1990

Signal Officer managed and trained personnel in the employment of tactical communications systems. Responsible for 33 personnel and over $2 million worth of communications equipment. Managed over 33 personnel in use of microwave communications systems. Discovered topographical flaw in signal plan during field operations and initiated corrective action that salvaged operation.
