Earthquakes and volcanoes have been brought attention to our public eye and want some answers. Everyone has that one very specific question, Are past earthquakes affecting us now? Yes they are. From recent events like the Haiti earthquake in 2010 left devastation to these people and their surroundings. This earthquake hit a 7.0 on the Richter scale. We have found a seismologist to come and tell you a little about P & S waves. This here are the recordings of the Haiti when the earthquake hit. We have our Pwaves which is our primary wave or first wave which is expanding and compressing its way through the earths surface. The Swave our secondary (shear) wave is when the earthquake travels in a bumper to bumper motion through the earth.

the money being funded to have new buildings in place. It has also brought many charitys to help them get to a better place economically, socially, and better living space with safer building. Another affect earthquakes can have are tsunamis. For instance the tsunami in the Indian ocean on Dec 26, 2004. This devastation was even bigger. It hit a 9.3 on the Richter scale and was recorded as the second largest earthquake. The fault line for this was an impressive 1200km of fault line. The Indian plate is below the Burma plate which falls into a subduction zone where one plate is forced to go under another. The focus up to the epicenter must have been enormous like rising up in a roller coaster. The physical damage this tsunami made was tragic. Details of how many causalities are still unknown the last recording was 266,000 and still over 100,000 missing. This tsunami destroyed entire villages and anything else in its path. The economy for these people was in dire need of help. Many nations joined in to help the people of these nations. Helping them build houses, starting crops, businesses, and other local help. Another interesting question we received are volcanoes and issue now to us or are they all inactive? The answer to this is no, there are still recent events that show very much that volcanoes are still active and have erupted. There are many different types of volcanoes we will list you a general idea of types of volcanoes.

This earthquake caused more harm than it did well. It harmed their crops, economy, living space, and politics. These all factor in on problems for Haiti they are still not 100% back on their feet after 2 years of this devastation. The only good from this was

the Alaska Peninsula which happens to be part of the ring of fire with other hundreds of volcanoes. This eruption was so explosive that this volcano had to borrow some magma from another volcano nearby. Which caused the other volcano to fall almost instantly due to the fast commotion of Novarupta and created a caldera. Lets not forget to mention the smoke that these volcanoes let out when erupting, so for this particular eruption was so catastrophic that even that earth had sudden cooling due to this eruption. Luckily no one got hurt and did not affect Alaska in any way other than smoke but most people were evacuated for safety. If you live in any of these zones and is scared from this information we can only suggest you move to another place nowhere near volcanoes or be in a place like with tendency of earthquakes. Thanks for reading.

The clouds that come out of these volcanoes are toxic. So when Mont Pelee erupted it let out the super-heated gas killing more than 30,000 people. The devastation here was quicker to rise from. There would be new plants growing rapidly, economy was strong enough to replace what had been damaged and politically no issues not even the U.N. helped with this. This was no comparison to Novarupta, Alaska in 1912. By this time the eruption of Novarupta was the biggest in the 20th century ten times more explosive then Moun St. Helens. Novarupta is located on
